I loved the architecture and the story behind the different rooms! It was definitely worth all the security clearances. Yeah, there are security checks that each person must go to and also get a ticket across the street on the west side of 1st Ave. Inside you can just look around at the different gifts donated by countries and if you are lucky see ongoing meetings through a window. There are also tours in different languages that I think cost $15?? Check. The tour is around 1 hour and shows you around the un and into the different rooms used for assemblies.

Its great place to visit. I am happy I was able to show it to my family. We went by Air train and subway from JFK using a google directions. People were very helpful and assisted in finding the directions. It was not that difficult on the day we visited to buy tickets, not much crowd. However the security guards at the visitor's office were not good, then asked us to stop at the entrance door though there was no such sign to stop. But the tour guide did a good job by explaining. Its not only sight seen but can gain a lot of interesting information about UN by visiting.

Visit to do. Tour guide in French. Quick passage through the large meeting room during a meeting. Please note you must check in on the opposite street before queuing to enter. At level minus 1 possibility to buy and post postvcards directly.

Not bad but more of the accolade that I had visited the UN centre. Tours cost but I believe they should be free. Exhibitions were good and informative. Security organisation was poor. I would have liked to have had coffee in the conference room but no indication where it was. It was too busy to eat or buy anything.

Visit to do! Tour of conference rooms and works of art offered by member states. Very nice view of Long Island City, across the East River.
Fun fact: the head office is not on American territory but on international territory - hence the obligatory passage through a security gantry such as one sees in airports.
Good visit!

Very nice and informative guide, wonderful building with a wonderful purpose. Lovely gift shop too, a good few things worth getting for a decent price in there, such as mugs and glasses with good designs.

Huge building. If you want to get a tour plan ahead. Don't forget your passport or you won't be able to get in. There is a visitor office that you need to register before entering the building and it is located in the corner of 1st Ave. and 45th St. in front of the main building.

The horrible exteriors, the closest thing to a fortress and not to the house of all the united peoples. They should change the concept and headquarters. Objectively, it is consistent with the real "union" of nations ... Diametrically opposed to what it is supposed to be

As a young boy, I dreamed of working in the United Nations. Perhaps this is no longer my dream ... But visiting the United Nations headquarters was indeed a unique experience ... The building shows the traces of time clearly ... and this is not necessarily a negative thing.

Awesome. I was in a group so we had the chance to go down to the assembly stage. I don't know if they do it for everyone but definitely worth a visit. Airport-style entrance checks. The shop inside has a lot of merchandise with the UN emblem and popular non-national prices. 20% discount if military ID is shown. The works of art contained inside are very interesting. Good guides from all over the world.

Very organized and well maintained. It's like being in the world's capital city. You come across people from almost every part of the world. A great place to visit for a tour and you have a feeling that you have traveled the world!

Always a place to visit: from the famous meetings rooms, like the Security Council or the General Assembly, to the gardens, now decorated with Unicef backpack to remember all children who die in conflict...

Until the United Nations Organization continues to be a puppet of the United States, there will be no way to give them my appreciation and respect. How many times has Puerto Rico gone in search of help to end once and for all the damn slavery suffered by this people by the United States, a country that has invaded us for more than 120 years. Even when the nations of the world are going to feel shame for the colonial way that the monster of the north treats this small island in the middle of the Caribbean?

Great experience inside! Total security here- theres a small office infront United Nations that you need to pass through first in which they take a copy of Your Identification card inorder to enter and a picture! You then pass to metal detectors and finally in the building in which you see the history of the different technology that was used back then in order to communicate with other countries! A cafe/food place is here and even a bookshop, clothing shop . Great experience to visit if you want to discover more of the jobs and meetings being held here !

Unmissable stop for those who go to New York, for the architecture, for the location, for the history. The writer was not born far from here ... Photos, super 8 films, and many memories ... One above all, the swings of the park in front of the East River riverside, in the background the passing Ferry Boats and the smoking chimneys of the Piers, those of detective films and rock concerts, of a bygone era.

Great option for tour in NY, we know the auditoriums of the Security Council, the General Assembly and other dependencies with a Portuguese language group and an excellent Brazilian guide, who gave a true lesson on the history and performance of the United Nations.

Superb visit. See and understand the functioning and missions of the United Nations. It is essential to take the guided tour to see the most interesting places but for non-English speakers, it is better to book a few days before to be sure to have a visit in another language.
