I graduated with a Bachelor of Human Resource degree in 2013. The course is modular in nature and students can plan their own modules and time tables every semester. As i was working full time, I took fewer modules per semester and it took me 4 years to complete my degree.
I had a great experience here overall and would recommend the school especially to working adults. There is also opportunity to network with our classmates. It is also attractive as the Government provides tuition fee subsidies to Singaporeans and PR, making the fees more affordable as it is a local University.
If there is 0.5 grading, I would give this school a 0.5. I was looking forward to learn in this school, given that it is now an autonomous University. Unfortunately, facing my first semester as well as the English Language Proficiency test, I noticed the marking method is too strict. If it's trying to catch up standards to other Universities in Singapore, I don't see the point to it. In addition, I don't see the point to have a group work project for part time students. Those who doesn't do work at all depends on other members to do work for them. I rather have myself doing the project on my own (independently), without having a group member, having my own results to reflect on my own hard work. I tried to work together as a team, unfortunately it's not technically a team. I'm sick and tired of carrying the burden. Selecting group members are based on luck (fortunate if that person pull your marks up, and unfortunate if that person drag your marks down--consider the percentage of GBA is 38%). Teaching method is absolutely horrible. The lecturers can bore me to sleep except for philosophy lecturers. 3 seminars to squeeze all 12 chapters is suicidal and crazy. How am I to expect high quality results if the quality of education sucks? Should I waste thousands of dollars for this kind of education quality?
I'm considering to switch to University of Birmingham at SIM GE, where the lecturers are all from Birmingham, UK, and modules are interestingly diverse. And yes, I was from SIM GE, and from MOE to know the difference. I went to different lectures in different universities (NUS, SMU, UOL and UOB) to understand their delivery of education. I am an independent student/ learner.. But this... Worst quality I've come across. I have high expectations of this school. I find it rather disappointing and regret investing my own money for such quality of education.
SIM University (UniSIM) has been renamed the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), as part of its restructuring into Singapore s sixth Autonomous University (AU).
Was supposed to graduate and throw the mortar board off my head, but sadly, fate has different plans for us this year.
Our batch were denied the graduation ceremony after studying so hard for so long (i did 5 years), investing so much time, energy and money.
While I agree that it is not the university's fault that covid had to happen, I do believe we have a way of celebrating our achievement. I don't mind it being postponed but please do not cancel it totally. After long years of hard work, in between work and other commitments, i strongly believe us graduates deserve a Convocation ceremony. A ceremony to celebrate our achievement and for some, a milestone in our many years of living.
We just received the letter which says 'In January 2021, SUSS will make a decision on whether to proceed with the convocation....'.
My heart sank reading the letter cos after receiving the first email notification, we were all hoping that at the very least, it will be postponed to next year. But from the tone of the recent letter we received, it sounds like there might be a possibility that it may never going to happen. And that thought crashed all of our hopes and dream. Dream to graduate in a graduation gown, mortar board, going up the stage to receive the certificate and giving us the perfect end to our university life. Some of us worked doubly hard and some of us don't even get a chance to put on any graduation robe as they came from A Levels. We were all looking forward to a graduation ceremony as a celebration of our hardwork, witnessed by our loved ones. Something our families can be proud of. I urge the university to not cancel the ceremony and spare a thought for us.
Please don't fail us. :(
Thank you.

Sub-par teachers and modules with screwed up timetable schedule. Their e - mods are extremely boring too and a waste of money. Marking criteria is also dubious. Just google and see how many of the students are complaining on Reddit or SUSS confessions Facebook or their official Facebook account.
Great applied education university. Modern with modular skilled based courses.
I hope to strengthen cooperation with SIM. Don't stop cooperating because of independence. I also hope that SIM will make the faculty team stronger, and a 7th public institution will appear as soon as possible
SUSS supports long life learning. It have part time courses that are suitable for adults.
Do not stop at the bus stop bay for any reason. There are enforcement cameras here. Direct your passengers/drivers to Blk A pick-up/drop-off point.
After attending today s Parents Information Session 2018,
My husband and I truly believed that our son is in the right university.
May God s blessings & love be upon all new students and all management staffs of SUSS!
The positioning of lifelong learning and adult education continue to be the strength of SUSS and Singapore.
I am a SIM GE student from UB and it's been great so far. Other than the administration side taking a long time and the program being expensive, everything else has been wonderful. Teachers are mostly respectful, kind and open to questions and other students have been fairly participative in group work. Work load is moderately high but manageable. AA was bad previously but the new one has been very helpful and understanding. Overall great experience studying here.
Singapore university social sciences is great qualities... thanks for this education.
It's quite a place to hang out with plenty of food including Starbucks and a good mix of international staff and students. They have full them classes and part time classes for professionals, Managers, Executives and Techs (PMET). Good library, complete with nice lecture Theatres. ATM cash machine include DBS, UOB and OCBC. Need an instant photo, there is a photo booth with the ATM. Stamps and bills to pay? Buy from the SAM machine and use the AXS machine. Wow.
Nice mall styled campus similar to SMU. With the popularity of online learning and discussions platform, we don't see the need for large campus for adult learning.
