Slightly underwhelming.huge queues and packed (ok,it wasAugust) it was hard to get a feel of the 'history'
A very enjoyable experience. We got there early and were advised to walk through the Crown Jewels exhibition first. The Yeoman of the Guard were approachable and provided good advice on what to see.
So cool to walk the royal palace & into the past history of the English king's & queens.
I thought il see old haunted castle and gues what my grandma's house is more spookey than that castle ..... I prefer going in Winchester, its way creepier !!!
Very good and worth the entry fee. Need 4-5 hours to view all aspects of the Tower. Enjoyed my time.
Very interesting museum with rich history. The guided Yoe Man tour was very entertaining and informative. I spent 4.5 hours at the tower and there was still more to see. Recommended to go when there are less people - perhaps early in the day on a weekday.
Make sure to buy a ticket and take a selfie walking over the glass floor of the tower bridge crossing. A Musuem awaits on the other side, where you can explore the history and steam engines once used to raise the bridge!
Great place to visit in London for history of the city and of the monarchies. Just can't take pictures in the exhibitions.
We visited the Tower of London last week during a 4 day visit to London. There was a tour guide which visited a few of the parts of the outside of the tour and it was great. He knew everything about the Tower and I would definitely recommend the tour guide.
Had a really great day there with my daughter. Wander around on your own or join one of the tour groups. The talks about the history of the Tower by Beef Eaters are very entertaining and light hearted in nature - but still give a feeling of what living in the Tower was like in past times
Only some movies or hyper-modern projections. Lots of "private" stuff. Guess the historical parts are in there. No tresspassing... what a waste of time.
This looked great, couldn't afford to go in, mind it was packed, impossible to get around.
You must visit the Tower of London.. with great history of London
Had a great dayout beefeater helped myself and my 2 friends who have walking sticks i hv stoma so couldn't wait in queue so he escorted us to front of queue to visit the crown jewels which was very appreciated and the new cafe/restaurant was lovely and staff so helpful helped with tray will definitively go back in summer
Great place to visit if you are in London. A must see.
Great visit and tourist attraction. Steeped in history of London
Fantastic place to visit, worth waiting for beef-eater tour, it made the experience, it was funny and informative. Alot to see, lots of history, definitely a must see if visiting London
If you don't visit any other place in London, you gotta see the Tower of London! We spent hours there. Awesome. Go early to see the Crown Jewels, then take the free tour with the Beefeater. Pay attention and you will learn where Anne Boleyn was imprisoned. The original building is like a thousand years old. Lots to see.
Skip London altogether, Paris is superset of London. Its all media hype.
There's a LOT to do but I guess I'm just never really good with crowds, and there's always a crowd, so be prepared. The staff are extremely nice and professional, something that's a rarity nowadays. It's quite expensive for the tickets, so best to come when in a party or with a discount. If you've never been, it's a must visit. The crown jewels alone were worth the price of admission. Oh take note: NO CAMERAS AND PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED IN THE JEWEL ROOM.
This is a definite visit location when in London. It's a little pricey, but well worth the entrance fee. There was a 30 minute line to see the Crown Jewels, but other than that there were no lines. Take the guided tour, it's free and hope you get Clive who was hilarious and interesting. The sites were incredible, you will get many excellent pics.
We bought tickets in advance online, but still the queue for the crown jewels was more than 1h long! We could not visit it and thus our money was kind of wasted on this visit.. Very disappointing!
Great day out. Lots to see and do. Expensive entry fee. I would suggest pre booking tickets online as they are cheaper. Also try gift experience websites as they sometimes have deals.
Access to some parts of the Tower would be restrictive for people who struggle with stairs, especially the white tower where a lot of the exhibits are.
A gruesome visit about war and torture. With the added bonus of stunning jewels and gold plate. Loved the crystal pillow , but could have had more information of the people who had been beheaded
Going here after visiting when I was younger I was not sure what to expect, there is a lot of history to take in. However I was a bit disappointed that some of the exhibits did not have enough visual displays. The overall day out was really good and there is a lot to see whilst there. There is a varied in terms of English history from everything from the Tudors to the Krays. Overall I did enjoy my visit and would come back here again.
Really cool history. It is amazing to think that so much history happened in these building and property. It the audio tour. Makes it more interesting.
This is one of the best value days out in London... Plan to spend the whole day... the Yeoman guards are extraordinarily entertaining... So much history to explore!!!
You ll need a full half day to really enjoy the place. Try to go early morning as the lines tend to grow fast starting from 11 am (not to get in just to visit the various buildings). A lot of history happened here so it s worth to take the time to stroll through every building. The queens jewels has the longest waiting but it s honestly not the most interesting part of the visit.
Has a wonderful sight of london and now is winter so the wind is really strong
I have been to London several times but never made it to the Tower of London until this trip. This was a great addition! I can t believe that I have not seen this before now.
- Pro Tip -
If you buy a day pass on the train, entry to the Tower of London (and many other attractions) are buy one, get one free.
Lovely place...I remembered all HARRY POTTER SERIES there ...fabulous...Kohinoor diamond in museum...
Just fantastic tour with yeoman warder 409. What a venue.
We loved the tower of London. It was expensive but a really packed day, I would have to say I think it would entertain adults and older children more than younger ones, although if younger children were kept interested by relevant activities on the go, either on paper or via tablet, then it could still be a successful day for all. Eating was pricey and difficult to find a seat, the food was pretty good though. Families might be better off bringing some sandwiches so they don't break the bank.
seeing all the tourists in there..and thinking this is part of my history, made me proud to be British..
Had a really lovely day lots of walking so have comfortable shoes on
I m a fan of medieval England, so this was a must. However, all that really remains is the history as this place has obviously (and for good reason) but updated/ renovated. Worth a stop for sure. Kids will enjoy.
There are already 1000 + reviews of Tower. It's the place everyone has to see for themselves and explore the English history and heritage.
Not bad, you need a day to visit it. Food is expensive but high quality. Crown Jewels are overrated.
I haven't been yet, but its full of history from English royalty who beheaded people here. Sounds like a jolly day out
Very historical and beautiful place in London. A must see once in your lifetime. Especially the Crowns of Jewel, very beautiful piece of history and incredible jewelery.
If you love History that's the right place to visit in London
Long line up to see the crown jewels. But great place to visit and it is included in the London pass.
Was great to experience the history of the Monarchy and specially the crown jewels
The tour by the beefeater was entertaining as it was informative.
If gore is your thing, this place is a must visit.
Loved all of the history! The 2.5 hour wait to see the crown jewels was a bit excessive.
Steeped in lots of history as expected. Beefeater Clive made guided tour very interesting and funny.
It is a very cool place and it has a lot of neat things.
Awesome historical place, lots to see and fantastic buildings. See the crown jewels and enjoy a tour from a Yeoman Warder or 'Beefeater' to learn about the history or the ravens.
Like me, you may have been as a kid, and kind of remembering it being okay. It is way better than okay. There is so much to do, that if you want to stop for lunch and take it easy you will need all day. We are going back.
Worth the cost!! The tour guides are very funny and there is so much to do inside. I had no idea how big it was.
A visit to the Tower is a must for any visitor to (or indeed resident of) London.
One of the most famous castles in the world it has been standing guard over London for more than 900 years.
The very air you breath feels historic here. A visit to the crown jewels is a must.
Actors walking around playing historic characters associated with the Tower will keep kids amused and adults informed.
A fantastic display that could only be shown at such an historic back drop.
Interesting place and Beefeater Dave was a wonderful guide!
Went to watch lanterns for remembrance being lit. A great idea, however disappointed with the music and length of time it took to light. Much preferred the poppies when I went to visit them a few years ago. Lanterns a great idea and could have been carried out in a better way in these days of so much technology.
It offers so much to learn and see including the crown jewels. Listen to the yeoman's story. Tour the animals of the tower. Climb stairs up and down. Though crowded, it didnt feel too bad. Buy your tickets on line for this and every attraction and largely skip the queues. Doing so saved us hours of wait time both in London and Paris.
I didn't take the tour, but you can get some great views of the castle from the area, especially across the river. Its crazy how big the reputation is for a place that is relatively small.
Amazing place to visit, jam packed with over 1000 years of history. Some of it is challenging though, so I would think carefully about bringing young children.
Amazing displays of the crown jewels. Very interesting interactive history British monarchy. Feel the sensation and atmosphere at zero ground of British history.
An indisputable must-see for any tourist who is in London. A synthesis of history, royalty and literature which will delight you with references to Shakespeare, sights of prison life in yesteryears, images of royal life and jewellery. Photography is ok except in the room where the crowns are displayed. Unforgettable...
Amazing place to visit while in London. Have been here every single year since September 2013 till this year, February 2019. Hope to be here again when we visit UK for the summer in July this year
A fantastic and interesting day out. Beafetter tour was a god send. Full of information.
The Tower of London is a must see! Get there early to avoid the queue.
You can really spend the whole day here. There is a lot to see including the crown jewels. They also provide tours with plenty of entertainment and information that is included with your ticket price so do take advantage. Check out where Ann Boleyn was executed and where her body now rests.
Played a prominent role in English history. It was besieged several times, and controlling it has been important to controlling the country. The Tower has served variously as an armoury, a treasury, a menagerie, the home of the Royal Mint, a public record office, and the home of the Crown Jewels of England.
Such a fun experience. A must visit for tourists. So much history and something for everyone.
This is one fantastic place to visit. So much history, extremely interrsting. Ypu can see the crown jewels there. Just as a reference, the Cullinan diamondfrom which a lot of the diamonds that compose the Queen's Sceptre and Crown, is said to be worth a total of over 2 billion dollars!
Bring some time with you and enjoy the complete Tower of London as well as the cafe in it. We Was visiting the Tower on a raining day and enjoy anyways!
Interesting place with lots of tales about its history. Go see the ravens and hear about the other royal beasts, visit the torture room or take a look at the crown jewels, current or old. My only downside was that it wasn't allowed to take pictures of any of the crown jewels, which I would get with the current ones bit it would be nice to atleast have a picture of the older ones.
Not able to appreciate the environment due to the crowd.
Very impressive and really worth to see. Obligatory place for tourists visiting London.
Historic landmark rich with English Royalty history- set aside 2 - 3 hours to take a tour
Nice to look at but unfortunately its not open till 6th Sept
This is a must if you want to see Crowns and look for a bit of history. You also get a feel for the history behind the monarchy over the years. It has all the necessary amenities: bathrooms and vendors. Not the best for younger kids, I would think that they would find it boring.
FANTASTIC.
Go,see,learn,enjoy.
What a gem but allow a good 4-5 hrs or do in 2 hits !!
I should have gone a long time back but will be returning for part 2!
Just to see the koh I Noor and Cullinan diamonds was treat enough .
It was a great visit. You can spend here easily 3 or 4 hours. Children will enjoy it as much as adults. Very interesting and entertaining.
I wasn't very interesting. Had a little to do got a bit boring quite quickly.
Such a wonderful historical gem! If you visit you won't be disappointed.
Fantastic castle in an outstanding location. The tour inside was really interesting.
