I have had wonderful experiences as both a traditional on-campus student back in 2010-2011 and now a distance student. Wonderful professors, helpful staff, efficient advising... everything about my university experience has been great. There's always something going on on campus, so be sure to participate. The HDFS department is outstanding! Love being a Spartan.

I was a long distance student at the university, and I have to say that from day one my adviser through the Liberal Studies program was disastrously unhelpful. By unhelpful I mean that her modus operandi is to get you to email other people, not offering you any sort of welcome or assessment of what you need to be successful when you start the program (and this is normal for the other schools I attended, long distance or not). She was basically a ghost, and not at all like Casper. When I needed help with a situation, she blamed me, basically shrugged her shoulders, and I had to email a bunch of people to actually solve the problem I had (that she could have fixed, and was fixed by someone else, in five minutes' time). It was not a good experience with her at all, and I felt confused and exhausted trying to become an expert at her job while also trying to focus on graduating. I don't know the point of an adviser who doesn't reach out and advise and make you feel like part of a community. Another thing that was terribly awful about the program was the language requirement. Part of my not getting advised was realizing at the last minute (luckily two semesters out) that I had to take four languages instead of two. (Two is NORMAL EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE COUNTRY.) Seriously, four languages is nothing more than a money grab, especially with the way the classes peddle idioms that no one actually uses when speaking the language. They are not taught in a way that encourages you to actually learn the language. It's a box to be checked off then promptly forgotten. You want people to know about other cultures? Have a culture class that explores the history and lives of people. Not four years of a language. Two years is the standard. It's a fine standard. Standards everywhere nod in approval of this standard. Stop with this ridiculous requirement. The last complaint I have is that the liberal studies program teaches diversity...and yet all I had in it were white teachers. Having white teachers explain diverse materials is not the same. It just isn't. Hire more POC. Hire more WOC. Stand behind your liberal message and be diverse in who you pay to teach, not just in the books and ideas you sell. There were a couple of teachers who were truly good, like Dr. McKinnon and Dr. Millett-Gallant, and did their best, but the program could do more.

It depends on what you want from a university education. If you want one focused on arts on a beautiful campus full of a truly diverse crowd of students and don't mind paying a bit much and not expecting that investment to pay off enormously financially, I think you'll fit in just fine. The college is known as being left-leaning politically, which isn't too surprising as a liberal arts university.

The staff members are rude! The only reason that I didn't give just one star is because the faculty are pretty great.

Getting advising time in order to register is a joke. I wouldn't recommend taking classes online: if you have to call in about something, be prepared to be transferred multiple times and leaving unreturned voicemails.

Went for a campus tour and honors tour. The staff and guides were extremely friendly, well versed and professional. There is a lot of growth and development with the school so that's a plus. The exercise facility was incredible. I only wished there would've been more information available about the offered majors... however, we did attend on graduation day so I understood.

Very diverse campus, with lots of organizations and clubs to join. The staff has always been helpful, and I've not had too much of a problem finding a person to answer whatever questions I may have. Cafeteria isn't amazing, but I am not sure what to expect from a public university's cafeteria anyway. They seem to really care about students. Great school, and proud to be graduating as a Spartan in a year.

I received a Baseball Scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.. I doubled major in Business Management and Exercise Sport Science and a minor in Communication.. That was a nightmare..17 Credits a semester and playing baseball did not work out especially when I'm not very smart to begin with....:) I played right field and hit Cleanup for the Spartans. UNCG was in the Big South my junior year. I was All Conference.. UNCG switched to the Southern Conference a larger Conference my senior year and I was 1st Team All Conference, All Tournament, Reebok Div 1 Player of the Week, and led the team in hitting batting cleanup and playing center field...I consider myself leading the Conference in batting because I had 100 more at bats than the player that received the award. I was the 100th best player in the Nation. My batting avg was. .380 The other player hit .381. We might share the title. I went to Spring Training for the Los Angeles Dodgers. I ended up signing with the Dubois County Dragons. I moved to Los Angeles and lived in Woodland Hills. I was dating a former Actress who worked at Messina Baker Entertainment. There main clients at the time were Drew Carey, Tim Allen and Janeen Garafalo Sp? I met with Rick Sullivan who had an office in LA who was the agent for Mike Piazza. I had an agent at the time and his name was Vince Panetierre. I worked at Mark Stevens private gym in downtown LA and was fortunate to have the opportunity to workout with a personal trainer who was the first female trainer or conditioning coach for the NY Jets. I trained hard for the upcoming season. I had no idea the CIA was already making calls to end my career one way or another..There was information found in CIA documents that pertained to my Grandfather Colonel George Kenneth Rubel Commander of the 740th Tank Battallion Battle of the Bulge. Information that explained the CIA had targeted and planned on killing Colonel Rubels entire family. I was named after my Grandfather. He saved the Country of Belgium from the German Forces...He wrote a book called DareDevil Tankers. 740th...7 times 4 equals 28.....The day I was born is 28..Over 3000 federal Bar Codes have 28 listed on them. Over 300 movies were made about my life or an experience I had. Kenny Powers is just like me...lol!!-

I graduated from UNCG and I look back at my decision to attend there as one of the worst decisions of my life. Everybody there is totally left wing and if your not liberal you will be ostracized. None of the administration is even a tiny bit helpful. Any problem that occurs is considered to be the students fault regardless of how much proof there is to the contrary. I was there for 4 years and only had one professor who tried to be fair and unbiased. If you can't find another college just don't go to college.

SCAM after SCAM after SCAM after SCAM after SCAM.... you get the idea.
Make sure if you want to go here or you want your kid to go here you have a For When We Get Scammed fund in addition to your college fund.

It was everything I wanted in a University and more. I seem to have majored in Extra-curricular activities in the '70's, but happened to get a major & a minor along the way... all in 3 years. Ah, the memories.
UNC-G has grown quite a bit since I graduated. It is heart-warming to see that they are still advocates for the Fine Arts as well as Academics.

Disappointed. The staff is slow to reply, they don't communicate things well with you. They even take off financial aid off you at the last minute before you can find other resources and make you pay for more stuff.

This school STILL owes me money. They have wonderful professors but horrible computer programs. They do not communicate well at all through the university and push people aside even when they know it isn't right. They charged me for a semester of school when I was not enrolled and had already transferred to a new school! I wasn't even signed up for classes, or registered for housing! Yet they still charged me with interest! The campus is beautiful but this school does a great job at ripping people off.

I have been accepted for the Spring 2017 semester and my major is pre-nursing. They say you need to go to an advising session before you begin classes so you can get everything sorted out since there isn't much time until I'd start and obviously I need my schedule and I need to know what classes to take. All of their nursing pages online give you an error, so I don't know what the curriculum is like or what I should be expecting in the next few years. I have sent multiple emails, left many voicemails with my name and number. I have not gotten an email back and it seems like the whole entire nursing department is never there during any hours of they day. I keep getting transferred to different numbers and I just cant seem to get a person on the phone. And they don't respond to emails either. At first I was really excited, but at this point I would much rather go to ECU because they've been on top of all my questions and i'm not left in the dark about anything. I think UNCG lost a potential student here, they've just shown me that they don't care, so neither do I. I just wont go there.

I hate this school. I am in the theatre department and love everyone in it; the faculty is amazing and the students are great. The training they give you is amazing. However, everything else is horrible. The University in general is very unorganized. They do not help their students, unless it makes them look better. Most of my friends who aren t in the Theatre department have transferred and I don t blame them. Don t go to UNCG if you re not majoring in the arts.
