Showed up for my mammogram appt and they said they...

Showed up for my mammogram appt and they said they had no record of my appt and that I'd need to reschedule. They didn't apologize for 'their' mistake, nor did they seem to care. I made the new appt and came for my mammogram. Wait time was ok. Person doing the mammogram seemed to rush me through everything and spoke maybe two words to me. Cold feeling from everyone in this office. Blonde, obese, Caucasian women at the front desk was rude and yelled orders in a super abusive tone to two other women working the front desk. The two women getting yelled at were African American. I am Caucasian and was embarrassed for the two women getting yelled at. The blonde woman was out of control. Her behavior was beyond inappropriate.

Beware: this place billed over $2000 - 4x more for the procedures than my regular clinic. I went there after doc recommendation but it was terrible. After insurance discounts the out-of-pocket costs were 6x more than the usual clinic I go to. Devastating!

The technicians are fine but Sentara billing is a nightmare. They submitted the wrong code to my insurance company so my insurance company denied coverage. Many, many calls later they have not corrected the problem and I am now getting bills from their collection agency. I am continuing to refuse to pay because it s their error and they should fix it. Why should I pay for procedure that my insurance would cover if they submitted the code correctly? Update: Sentara has not provided me a requested written response to my letter but they have filed a negative report on my credit report. Once again I am being penalized for their error and I m not sure what recourse, if any, I have. AVOID!!

I had to review after reading the other reviews. I have gone here for several years for Mammograms and they always were polite and efficient. Each time they checked and told me ahead of time what the insurance would cover. In my case when the 3d imaging became available I was told that they can do it but it would not be covered.
I also use Physicians & Midwives Collaborative (Mt Vernon) and they have always offered me at least 2 places they recommend for mammograms, no pressure to choose this one.

They schedule patients but don't verify whether the procedure is covered by insurance or NOT!BEWARE of this diagnostic center.....I came in and they never told me that the ultrasound is not covered by my insurance. Would you believe it! I have 2 insurances AETNA PPO (from my work) and United Health Care PPO (from my husband) and I ended paying the whole ultrasound. I was not told during the visit that my insurance will not pay for it....they made me SIGN the financial policy that I am responsible with my bills....well guess what???? a month after I received a bill.I am NOT even sure if they processed my insurance claims.....they just billed me the whole amount. If they billed it to my insurance I am sure the insurance will NOT pay them the whole billed amount.THEY HAVE A CONNECTION with Physicians and midwives....maybe one of the doctor from Physicians and midwives owns it because when I asked if I can do my ultrasound at INOVA hospital...Physicians and midwives insisted that I go to this place instead.......and made me pay a lot of money despite having two good insurances!!!!I actually called their office as soon as I received the bill...the manager promised they will process my insurance but I ended up receiving a collection letter.I am a working mom so I don't have time to fight ....I just decided to pay it with a HEAVY HEART.I think this office needs to be investigated or reported to authorities......they need to be investigated about "Anti-Kickback compliance or violation".....I was so confused why the office of Physicians and Midwives insisted that I go to this facility even though the patient is asking to be sent to a different facility."IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR FINANCES DON'T GO INTO THIS FACILITY" IF YOUR DOCTOR TELLS YOU TO GO TO THIS FACILITY......ASk if they will pay for your bills just incase this office "mess up".

AVOID if you want to avoid billing hassles. This is a Sentara Healthcare facility. In short, I received a "collection notice" from Sentara in June. Mind you, I never received a "regular" itemized bill. I promptly called the number on the collection notice, which posted an "amount due," but no itemization detail. After an inordinate amount of time on hold, I finally spoke with a representative. This representative proceeded to tell me detailed billing statements had been mailed to me in February, March, April and May. Then my account was sent to collections. I told him I NEVER received one bill, much less four. After much back and forth, I finally impressed upon him that it was impossible that the problem was with the Post Office. He put me back on hold, only to come back on the line to tell me his team leader or some such had determined that the billing statements had not been mailed to me after all because of a Sentara system error. He promised to remove my account from collections and to send a proper itemized bill. To date, I have not received an itemized bill--only more collection notices--despite also writing a letter to Sentara Healthcare requesting itemization.
