There are some novice doctors and some no learning interns, who you should avoid. But we don't know how to avoid them and find decent doctors (I'm sure there are some...). I just don't go there to waste my time and money, even though my insurance company pays most of it.

RN's in emergency need to be more on top of things, yeah I'm talking about you Hispanic lady with the bleached hair. Made us wait to check us in while other people checked in before us and finally we just walked in the other side and got helped the second I walked in. Yeah 5 stars would have been great but your service doesn't reflect that and to me you are the service, sucks you have to be like that. Oh and when I parked my car in the parking structure my car got keyed from three areas of the car mind you my car was parked straight plus it s a small car so it s not like I took up a lot of space. Now I understand UCI isn t responsible for the damage but they don t even have cameras!!!
Award winning? I think not. Not a good experience with the staff who needs better customer service training. The ER is a joke like most normal ER's, these guys are nothing special. Rude like all the rest and they don't mind leaving patients alone for hours that are supposed to be monitored
I work at UCI & receive my medical care at UCI. It is amazing to give & receive world class care. I feel I have the best doctors that take incredible care of me. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Even arriving before 8 am, parking is overcrowded and difficult, at best. They only offer valet for one specific building. Wait time has been in excess of 2 hours to see provider. Refused to inject both my shoulder and hand at same appointment forcing me to make a separate appointment. I went elsewhere instead and that orthopedic dr said only reason to make me wait is to bill more for another office visit. They left mags 8 times in one month about a bill for $30 even though I had JUST SEEN one of the providers and had just sent a payment. Nothing is for the patient's convenience. Fortunately my last doctor is leaving uci.
I see doctors and I have had surgery sometimes. The hospital is nice. No matter which facility you go, make sure you talk to them about what you need, your medicines and make sure they talk to your doctor about everything.
Check any food you get. Some sandwiches may have mold.
For over 30 years, I get most of my health care at UCI in Orange and Irvine. My experience has been overwhelminly positive. I am not related to any of the doctors. Easy appointments, nice and courteous front office personel, well appointed rooms, short wait in the waiting rooms and treatment rooms, nurses that know their job, introduce themselves, are eficient and make you feel at ease, residents and students very helpful, doctors that care, are knowledgeble and give you enough time for interaction, good diagnosis and effective treatments, up to date laboratories, X rays, MRI etc. I wonder why some people have had negative experiences. It is true that when you are sick, you want everything to be centered in you. You have high expectations, are impacient and demand results. This is not always possible, medicine is not perfect and care in other medical facilites is very similar. Many who complain do not remember how they perform their own duties in their jobs. Nobody is perfect. Just relax and let the system work. If not, go somewhere else and you will be surprised of how similar your experience will be.
This was the most horrendous treatment of a genuinely and visibly injured person. I realized shortly that this is a teaching Hospital because no one had any answers to the simplest questions , such as, is there a drinking fountain or may I have something to drink? I live in Las Vegas where Medical Care is getting tight because the population growth But even with our challenges, I have never seen anybody so mistreated as the patients in the waiting-room at UC Irvine Medical Center. I arrived at 10:30 in the morning with an unknown element attacking my foot. I left just before dark with no diagnosis and no Comfort or care!! If that wasn't torture enough the phlebotomist pulling blood punctured THROUGH my veins twice. If that wasn't torture enough, I watched while a grown man, crying from pain, his wife repeatedly asking for quicker assistance for his pain in the waiting room for over 20 minutes while no one, and I mean no one attempted to help this man. I was left in the waiting room for hours and hours on end , unable to make my way to the check-in counter to ask what am I waiting for. What is happening next? In my experience on this Easter Sunday nobody wanted to work and everybody was angry at patients that needed attention ! I was Triaged, never ordered pain meds, never given assistant to even provide minimal elevation of the massive swelling and inflammation happening to my toes, feet, ankles and symptoms were moving up the leg while WAITING AND WAITING. My pain I left was so acute that I had tears rolling down my cheeks. I ultimately left ... the triage Dr. misdiagnosed my condition. Google was more knowledgeable and helpful then UC Irvine Medical Center and staff !!! There Were Strangers on the street that were more compassionate as they tried to get myself into my car than any so-called professional inside that facility!! Don't ever go there on a holiday!!
UCI Medical Center sent us surprise hospital bills and when we called to get clarification, their staff was impatient and showed no willingness to help. They promptly and routinely sent the bills to collectors.
If you are looking to have surgery here...DONT!! Surgery was set for 7 am and asked us to be here at 5 am. We have been waiting 9 hours to have our set surgery. We get a new excuse every couple hours! Now we are told this is a trauma hospital so others can be ahead of us. Do research prior to scheduling a surgery and don t go here unless you want to be here all day ! Unprofessional...
Worst parking ever. Is UCI broke? They want to charge 5000.00 hospital stay then charge for parking and charge for valet. It's a hospital UCI... Not a concert. Makes me wonder where are the billions of dollars that are donated each year. Top heavy are you UCI.. Yes they are but will lie about it.
I got an authorization from my primary doctor to attend a health class. I have called, called, called and called to make an appointment. I have left messages, been on hold; nobody EVER returns your call. How about fire all these employees and find people that, oh I don't know, will actually WORK!
Doctors are awesome and well experienced. Upkeep of facility is awesome. 3 star is because of the service. Labor and Delivery department, none of the nurses had smile on their face and I mean it. (customer service ?) Huge attitude and the nurses are fighting with each other in front of the patient while the patient is delivering. This is crazy negative energy. All ladies ( all nurses) they have gangs within the floor they are serving and one nurse gang would fight with the other gang. Managament overlooks as they are short of staff! Holy smokes, what a hostile environment. Take my baby and get out of here. We asked the nurse to change or do something they will come back and literally scream or show bad attitude! Customer (patient) are they one who paying Nurse pay check so nurses pay attention to your paycheck!
I wont even give one star this hospital is so terrible (But you made me to post) I would not even take my dog there the staff is so snobby in the lobby of the ER I had been brought there by ambulance from another hospital to see another type of Dr. They took me off the ambulance gurney and left me in the hallway in wheel chair and no one ask me if I was in pain or not if any one knows about Shingles very painful. Then after the Dr saw me she pushed me back into the lobby of ER that is when it went from bad to worse I just sat there til I could not take it anymore I asked one of the ladies behind the counter when I could go home since I had already been seen. When she found out that I had shingles she pushed me out side to a closed off room because she said I could easily give chickenpox to little kids she acted angry at me and when she did I lost my temper and called her a name but I apologized to her she said whatever and I ask for pain meds and she said no pain meds for you I am discharging you and if you don't stop being so beligerent to me I will call the cops and have you escorted off the property I was still setting there with a gown on and 2 IV's in my arm. Finally they came and gave me a tetnus shot (why???) they were giving everyone there one seems like. and eye drop in my eye and told me to go to restroom and change clothes and go home had to have my husband come all the way from La Habra to get me because the lady told me that I would have to wait 2-3 hours for a cab voucher to get back to Anaheim reg to get my car. I think that when people are sick and don't feel well that a staff worker not a nurse but staff worker should have just as much empathy or get into another profession . What was so bad was that she was telling the other two girls in the cubical about me then they started looking down on me like I am scum. this happen on 6/1417 in afternoon late evening. I will never give you props for your hospital or your staff.
Disgusting hospital with UNETHICAL employees! My mother ordered a quesadilla from the cafeteria and dropped it on her way out. She went to tell the cook that it had fallen and the cook sent TWO people with her to see if she had really dropped her food! They MADE her dig in the trash to some them she had really thrown the trash away. I was beyond disgusted and disappointed with the way my mother way treated. I called and left a message to a supervisor and have not received a call back. Sadly my mom has to finish treatment there but after NEVER again will I reccomend anyone there. NEVER again will we step foot in that cafeteria with those NASTY employees!
UCI Emergency Room deserved less than one star. I waited for 5 hours sitting there without nothing. They just gave some medicine and took out my blood. sample. A receptionist said usually people waited for 7 or 9 hours. Can you believe it? People who go to emergency room usually feel so painful that need immediate treatment. They do not know what is emergency. In addition, they said I waited only for 5 hours and left early before their analysis, so they cannot give anything like transcript or doctor note, but charged fully $150. Another bill is $100 charged more with nothing. If I go there, again, every step has to be done from the first again for 7 or 9 hours. Worst of worst hospital. Never go there. Users giving more than four stars must be part time workers hired by the campus. No reasonable reviews prove this.
Terrible care ... They hurt me during my delivery ... They did not take good care of me or my baby ... It was a horrible and traumatic experience in that hospital. Apart from the fact that they have pure fucking apprentices and that they experiment with you.
Worst so called er.. I show up with a full body rash weaping with liquid writhing pain, my leg has a massive infection, I'm in uncontrollable pain, they see me miss diagnosed me and prescribe me stronger meds than what I have. They make me wait 3 hours in pain on a hard uncomfortable wheel chair and i get no pain medication and no one is concerned with my state of being. I was told 3 times to wait 30 mins for a freaking script. I got there at 5pm and left at 10pm with no script and nothing to help me. All I'm going to get is a bill. If your in need of medical attention go to any other place. Very disappointing!
Sure I have reviewed before but they have a major amount of great doctors and nurses. Of course you have some imperfect times but that's life. They have saved my life with cancer treatment and now my mother's with an anuerysm clipping . Also you have to be your own patient advocate at any hospital or any doctors office
Great care. Physicians are wonderful and informative. No parking near the Douglas Hospital. Valet is $16.00 per day. Just be patient with the Valet. They like to stand around and gossip for a long while before they notice your standing in front of them.
Horrible the emergency room is run by a bunch of immature kids that lack professionalism and any passion to help people on top of spending all of there time talking to each other and joking around I felt like I was attended by a bunch of kids playing doctor and as I was explaining my symptoms to my nurse an number of other nurses kept interrupting her I also noticed as they quickly ran out of patience with pretty much every patient there IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!
My husband is there right now as we speak. Because of covid I can t go in and see him. Nurses there are are not being held accountable because no family is there for anyone! My husband has 4 alarms going off, screaming for help. He disconnects his IV TO GO LOOK FOR HELP, carrying around bags of blood that are coming out of his catheter. He finds a bunch of nurses who can barely speak English sitting, cackling, cussing, having a party while he is being ignored. These aren t the frontline nurses we ve been hearing about as heroes. Step up!! This isn t over. I am sure of that. They have some explaining to do to me.
The wait in their ER when they are busy??? You better bring sandwiches & drinks depending on your level of urgency / need to be treated. Once you are through the ER you will receive some of the best care by the sharpest minds in the county. Don't be fooled by the poor reviews. You wanna die and see your Doctor perhaps once a day if you are lucky? Head to your local community hospital for a complex problem and roll those dice. Many of the sharpest medical minds practice and teach medicine thru UCI Med Center. And the level of nursing care their is top notch and top rated.
I have only one bad thing to say about uci. The charge nurses (sylvia) in the newborn mother/baby sectoin was a complete disrespectful jerk. All other nurses were very nice and helpful.
Cant get an appointment, cant get a real person on the phone, I've had 1 appointment with these hacks and they destroyed my cast told me to pay them $400 when my insurance should cover everything then sent me home with bandages. The doctor I had should have retired 90 years ago he couldnt even read my xrays, I asked for a second opinion and they set me up with the same doctor I dont think they know how this works....
had septorhinoplasty and was in surgery 5 hours got a few nurses who i didnt care too much for but later during the recovery got new nurses ROBIN AND FLORENCE and they were amazing definitely attentive knew exactly what i could and couldn't do .. over all these two nurses made my experience the 5 star i gave them....
I've been bringing my mom here for the past 5 years are the cancer center and ER. Cant complain about this place. My mother has always been treated well, it's always clean and the Doctors are very good here. I come here whenever there is an emergency.
This Hospital has made my stay here more positive for me. It made feel less scared about what i had to go through i feel better and i would recommend this hospital to all my freinds and family.
God bless the nurses I.C.U & doctors, E.R team . my sister went in very sick and every thing the team did has helped her save her life forever grateful with the nures at u.c.i Health . myslef and my family are beyond thankful,& god bless everyone.
Terrible ER. Nothing "emergent" about the care provided here after a car accident. Nurses look bothered if you ask for assistance. Several looked right past me when I went to the nurses' station for help. Expect to wait 12-24 hours before you're given any answers. If you are in an emergency situation, tell the EMTs to AVOID UCI.
