UC Davis Student Health Center Review

I had a contact lens fitting with the Optometry department. It was similar to appointments I had at other places (eye dilation, read a bunch letters, tell'em which look better, and 20/20 vision is good enough you don't need better). Doctor was good in making sure to answer any of my questions. The guys at the desk were really helpful in getting my contact order filled (as I could not see well at that point due to the eye dilation). They made sure to breakdown the cost for me as well as show me a rebate I could get for the contacts. Couldn't ask for anything more in an optometry appointment!

Most horrible student health center! Horrible service, mean stuff. Not friendly at all. Only show up late for three minutes and they charge you$25! Cruel stuff in urgent care.

This was the worst experience I ve ever had. The doctors did not care. I would not go here if you actually wanted to get treated for your illness.

Excellent, friendly, and professional staff. I went in for urgent care (pressure in my ear) on a Friday morning and they made me a doctor s appointment for 30 minutes from then at the clinic on the second floor. Easy to follow signs about and clear directions on the check-in tablets.
I saw Dr. Pham. She was obviously a medical professional. Very happy with my experience with everyone I encountered. I had lost my voice a day earlier and they had no problem working with me and my temporary whisper of a voice.
Seamless transition from doctor s office to pharmacy downstairs. Student health care couldn t be easier on students.

Pharmacy is good. Care is not great; you cant schedule out appointments (short notice scheduling only). It takes over a month to get seen at physical therapy and accupuncture and there are no regular appointments, appointments tend to be quite short. These two departments are a travesty, you need to get reffered out if you need regular pt. The people are good, but it seems to be short staffed and not focusing on the patient so much as saving money (probably due to the university budget) Their staff and equipment is sparse. Doctors are good, but for better or worse, they are extremely conservative in prescribing drugs that can potentially be abused (generally a good thing, if you really need something you can potentially see a specialist), and tend to have a strong anti-cannabis sentiment.

Warning! Avoid going here! They have no notion of health care! I went in a few days ago for an ear infection and was told that inflammation and fluid buildup are present so I should just be 'careful' (whatever that means) and take Zyrtec, nothing else! No antibiotics or anything was prescribed. I don't know how I'm suppose to be careful with a full blown ear infection, without any medication! After waiting for 2 days the pain level grew so bad that I ended up going to Sutter urgent care on Easter Sunday. the doctor told me my ear drum is about to burst! I am in extreme pain and am about to lose my hearing because I trusted my school's health center!!!

Really happy with my care here - had to go to urgent care here twice in the past couple weeks (separate issues) - once I scheduled a same day appointment before coming over, and once I just went in and was seen quickly.

Dr. Eaton was great each time - very competent care, professional, friendly, good manner, and patient with me and explaining what was going on and answering my questions. Nursing staff were friendly and helpful, and front desk too. I talked to the advice nurse once, and she was great. Radiology staff were friendly, and remembered me between visits.

Bonus - something I've never seen before is that Dr. Eaton knew the prices of quite a few of the procedures and 1) they're legitimately lower than elsewhere and 2) doctors almost never know what anything costs. He understood that students are price-sensitive, and was very up front with me about what it might cost and why he was recommending it. Didn't push anything expensive.

Facility still feels very new and well cared for. Would definitely recommend it and would go back again for future care if needed.
