Almost everything you want to see and plenty of other stuff you didn't know existed. At least for me anyway. Free admission.
Almost everything you want to see and plenty of other stuff you didn't know existed. At least for me anyway. Free admission.
Great selection of planes from all of the major wars (WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Korea, Cold War, and even modern planes). I just wish they consistently had smaller displays like in the WW1 section.
So much to see! So glad they have scooters available to veterans and others that need them, and strollers.
You could spend a whole day here! The New presidential exhibit was really cool!
This is a gr8 place to learn or get reacquainted w/our American history
This is a must see place where visiting the area! It is absolutely huge and provides hours of entertainment for free! They have some of the coolest aircrafts and aviation related stuff that I've ever seen! Highly recommend.
Only had time to spend about three hours here. Need at least a day to enjoy the whole place. 2 would be even better.
Where else can you visit a world class museum, for free; right here our own backyards?
Awesome place very cool was extremley humid inside though
Wow, huge museum. Lots and Lots of indoor displays. I also enjoy the mannequins which bring several scenes to life. We were there for a couple of hours and need to go back to see the rest.
An extraordinary institution. The finest collection of Air Force planes, artifacts and displays in the world.
Great place to see aviation history. Loved that the presidential planes were moved into the building and can be walked thru.
This is the best museum in the country. I spent all day here and I I still didn't even get to see everything. There is so much great aviation history here. The best collection of Aircraft ever. I need to go back and spend a few more days there. It is free too! Everyone should visit.
Museum far outstripped my expectations! There is no way you can see everything in a single day. There is just so much to see and read and absorb. A must-see stop not far off I-75. I'm already planning another visit.
Biggest, most complete Air Museum I've every been to.
I have been to this museum 6-8 times and never tire of it. If you are interested in military aviation history, this is THE best place in America! 4-5 hangers covering from WW1, to today's planes, and planes I doubt you will ever see anywhere else in the USA. Ever see a WW1 Folker triplane? WW2 German ME 262? V1 buzz bomb? Japanese suicide plane? US B52, B1 and B2 bombers? All indoors. This place is incredible, the volunteers are so knowledgeable, and it's FREE! If your in Ohio, GO!
This is a must see museum and is a true wonder. The planes since it invention, the ones used in WWI and WWII, to modern day warplanes are preserved and is well put together.
This place can tell you a lot of stories. Equally interesting for both adults and kids.
I have never seen such a large military museum. The WWII section was particularly interesting for me. Some of the most impressive ones being the B-2 stealth bomber, the Bockscar B-29 Superfortress. There is detailed information regarding exhibits available. I would recommend spending a whole day there to cover everything. There is also a cafeteria there.
Overall one of the best museums I have ever visited.
This was my 3rd time visiting and it improves every year. I have been to many aircraft museums around the world but this is by FAR the best one.
I spend 11 hrs or a day and a half there but one could easily spend longer.
This is the most amazing place to visit. You need to arrive early and spend the day. So much to see and do. It is very well designed and has a lot of information about the aircraft. I advise anyone who has lived thru any of the past wars or police action to visit and pay your respect for what these planes stand for and the people who few and repaired then did for this country.
Mesmerizing!!! Super Awesome place to visit !!!! Had a great time .. amazing display of aircrafts and missile .. And the biggest thing is it is all free and variety of food at food court at very reasonable prices ... we just Love this place
Love, love, love this museum. It is just great to take your kids and have a relaxing yet educational walk. Great staff and amazing exhibits
There is lots of planes and history to see. You can view planes from the beginning of flight to modern planes. There is a ton of information on what you are looking at. It is a great place to spend all day or just an hour or two. The parking and visit to the museum is free. It a great place for kids and adults.
A truly impressive display of aviation and US Air Force history. You cans spend a few hours - or days - going through the massive collection
High quality displays, helpful, knowledgeable staff - can't believe it's free!
Awesome place to visit! Free parking and no cost to get in!
So many different types of aircraft! I would definitely recommend splitting your visit into 2 days if possible.
What a beautiful place to visit. And free admission was a surprising. wow will never forget visiting here.
Awesome museum, defiantly worth seeing if you are interested in aviation.
It will take several visits to see everything. Amazing exhibits!
This is one of the best Aviation Museums I've been to! the quality and quantity of aircraft is insanely awesome ! Im on a quest to see Every static A-12 and SR-71 aircraft, This site carries one of each. As well you will see MANY test aircraft and the only XB-70 Valkyrie on display. The YF-23 Gray Ghost, and the Bird of Prey are really interesting to see up close. walking around the outdoor aircraft is pretty fascinating ! I walked this museum in 2 days and still feel I could have used another day!.
By far the best aviation museum in the world. With free admission and pretty much any plane you'd ever want to see on display, you can't go wrong. Must set for anyone visiting Dayton or Wright- Paterson
I try to hit this place at least once a year. A fantastic collection of aircraft comparable only to the Smithsonian. If you get the chance, take one of the behind the scenes tours.
We went here dozens of times, and we love the WWII planes most of all!!! We live in Dayton, which makes it easier to go. Highly recommended.
Amazing assortment. Free admission. Great family trip.
I have been a volunteerunteer at the USAFM for over four years. The place is fantastic. 23 acres of historical airplanes under roof.
The musuem is laid out as a walk through aviation history. Starting with the Wright brothers era moving forward into World War II, Korean war, Viet Nam era, missiles in space, the Cold War era and finally the new hanger with the presidential planes and research and development planes.
All the planes are fascinating but my favorites are the plane that dropped the second atomic bomb on Japan that brought about the end to World War II. Also the XB-70 Valkyrie, Apollo 15 Moon capsule, and the first Soviet MIG fighter acquired by the United States. They also have a stealth bomber and a B-52 on display.
Plan on spending several hours (some visitors return the next day).
The museum is open 9 to 5 every day of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years day.
The museum is free of charge so come enjoy this world class venue in Dayton Ohio.
It's neat. No admission, but they will get you at the gift shop and virtual reality expierence if you choose. I liked looking at all the planes, but I think I was more interested in the rest of it that told of the history. We took our two and almost five year old. Not a place for a bored two year old who wants to run, touch, and ride.
Love this place it's free and there is so much to learn. I've been there 6 times now and I would definitely go back. This museum is recommended for all ages and for school trips. Awesome Gift shop and the people are very kind. I love the new 4th Hanger really bright and cheerful.
Awesome, so much history and interactive exhibits.. good for little kids about 4 hour self tour.
Amazing place to experience with so much to see it's impossible to do it in one trip. Try out one of the flight simulators, or climb aboard an air force one, see the inside of a mock up space shuttle and step through the belly of a Hanoi taxi, it's just incredible for all ages. A must see for anyone.
I have always loved this place... Great set up, very educational, and very friendly staff. The best part is that it is completely free! You can stop in for an hour or two, is spend all day. Highly recommend it for families it just anyone who is looking for a way to spend an afternoon.
Planes from every era.. give yourself a lot of time, so much to see.
This place is packed with airplanes and helicopters! You could spend a full day here.
Really awesome museum. Bring your walking shoes, its huge.
Immense museum of aviation history. Requires many hours to tour the entire facility. Nearly one of every aircraft the USAAC / USAF ever flew - and MORE!
Free to get in and lots of planes. Easy to spend 4 hours. wear comfortable shoes, lots of walking on hard concrete. Plenty of chairs throughout.
Great experience
Will go back
This is an amazing museum experience. We visited over two days. Small children friendly and it's all free! Looking forward to going back.
Beautiful Museum, great place to take the kids and learn about all types of aviation.
The Air Force Museum is amazing it's 5 . However when the only exit takes you directly through a souvenir shop instead by it.
Sadly it can ruin a perfectly great day for a family. That's just wrong
My wife and I went to the Air Force Museum on 3-9-2020. This was our first visit but it will not be our last. The exhibits are well put together and divided into eras. Following the guide you will move through the galleries in chronological order. This is completely free to all who come. I do recommend giving a donation to help and support the museum. You can go through all of the exhibits in 2-3 hours. In order appreciate the full scope of all the exhibits I would allow about 4-6hours. Be sure to look up, there are aircraft hanging from the ceiling.
My only complaint is that the main restroom just inside the atrium needs attention for repairs .
The Air force museum is not only interactive but provides knowledge of our aviation past.
Love the new additional hangers and exhibits. Been going there since I was a little guy and have loved it ever since.
Without a doubt one of the crown jewels of aviation museums along with the Smithsonian facilities in the D.C. area and the Pima Air Museum in Tucson, Arizona. This was high on my bucket list and it was well worth the trip.
As a bonus they offer free use of power personal wheelchairs for handicapped. They are 4 wheelers and very comfortable and helps greatly for those who have physical limitations.
This museum is amazing. There is so much to see. You need to take a full day just to stop read, watch, and look over everything. I have been here twice and still haven't stopped to look at it all. It's amazing to see the evolution of flying up close. It blows your mind to see the size of some of the planes as well as realizing how flight started to what it is now. Bring your walking shoes. They do offer wheel chairs, strollers, and scooters but I'm not sure the cost of that. However, admission is free. Free I say. Can't beat that. Definitely worth planning a trip to. Can't wait to go again.
Great place to bring the kids, it's completely free.
But bring money if you have young ones because to get to the exhibits you have to pass right through the gift shop
Also they have Imax
Then further in the have flight simulators($8or$9) a person.
Great place. Guides were very helpful. I would go again.
Newer displays and collections some older and familiar ones as well but fun family day trip
Just a place you need to go if you love aircraft and the US Air Force!
SO MANY AIRPLANES. Great collection, but, unfortunately, while were there, they had several sectioned off.
This is a well thought out and interesting (& amazing) museum. It has some very historic (actual planes that we've all heard of) and some very obscure planes and artifacts too. Its unbelievable how far air and space travel have come in such a short period. The museum and parking are free. Why wouldn't you go?
Can't believe this place is free! Cool place to visit on a weekend and it's almost never packed. Fun for the whole family!
Best value going. Totally free and massive display of air and space. Even free parking.
Great displays. Helpful docents who know their stuff. New display hall is terrific.
I've been several times and it always impresses me and it's like seeing it for the 1st time all over again!!
Free admission. Takes hours to walk through all the hangers.
Great FREE place to spend the day with the family learning about Aviation and the heros of our military.
Loved it! But cafeteria overpriced. Could've gone and had a good dinner for what I paid instead of cafeteria food.
This place displays how the fighter planes transformed from WW1 to the modern era. Guided tour is also available, check their website for schedule. Has a cafe for quick snacking. Offers Souvenir for purchase.
Incredible museum. Didn't allow enough time first day - spent close to 8 hours here over course of 2 days
Nice to see how the aviation started and keep moving forward the future.
This is a awesome place to visit. Tine well spent.
wow, alot of history. Need more time to see and enjoy everything. Staff was amazing
The ultimate air museum IMHO. This museum has a huge inventory of aircraft but also has a very large amount of informational displays, artifacts, real items that were actually parts of the famous aircraft. This isn't a simple come look, see and leave museum. I can literally spend a day reading and taking in the sights. Do not skip the annex tour- more aircraft in an up close and personal setting. Get there early and get your tickets. It's worth the trip. I could actually see this being a two-day visit if you are an enthusiast; it's that good. The only disappointment is that WP didn't get a Space Shuttle a couple of years ago. That would have been fantastic.
This place is fantastic! See the 100+ year history of flight and the US Air Force.
We went through pre-ww1 to ww2, and had a great time. Thanks
