What a great place. Incredible that it is completely FREE. A must go for anyone with an interest in aviation.
Incredible museum!
All the staff were very welcoming and informative.
Many of the people working here are volunteers! Thank you for your service!
Most of the aircraft displayed has historical significance. Its truly humbling to read and absorb the many displays and artifacts.
My sincere thanks to this museum for all we were displayed, and I might add, for no charge. Sincerely, thank you.
Unbelievable collection of aircraft and other USAF equipment. If you read about each one it'll take you multiple days to get through the entire thing.
Great museum with an amazing collection of aerospace history. We spent the whole day in the museum and did not see everything. The price to visit, free, is great.
Incredible place to visit. Learn history. Enjoy planes. No charge for admission. You could easily spend multiple days here.
A place to learn alot about history of different planes and good place to bring kids of all ages
The Air Force Museum is among the finest aviation and military museums one can visit, and it usually takes two or three visits just to get acquainted with the amazing variety artifacts and exhibits. I have been three times, and there is still so much more to see and learn.
The museum features a complete account of the development of aircraft and its civil and military applications, from the Wright Flyer, all the way through to the space race and the Cold War. The museum has actual historical aircraft, jets and rockets, the first wind tunnels, first engines and the technology used to get the aviation age off the ground, if you will pardon the pun.
The World War exhibits dramatically underscore the rapid early development of aircraft, even featuring the first German jets and the B29 that dropped the last nuclear bomb on Nagasaki.
A short review will never do this museum justice; I encourage anyone with even a cursory interest in aviation and space-based technology to visit the National Museum of the US Air Force. You are likely to be, as I, overwhelmed and overjoyed by the experience.
Absolutely mind blowing place. Can't be more impressed.
Great history at every inch. Space is well used to tell the story of flight. Kids and adults will enjoy it. Museum has thousands of pieces but doesn t feel cramped or claustrophobic. Make sure you leave plenty of time for the third hanger.
The US Air Force Museum is an excellent place to visit, especially seeing as it is entirely free to go. The museum is very large and has exciting exhibits including planes from WWII, the Cold War, etc.. There was even an area dedicated to spacecraft. One of the most exciting things, in my opinion was a room surrounded by unbelievably tall missiles. There, you could read a plaque describing how they are dispatched. There are also several small cafes where you grab a bite to eat and have a bottle of water or soda to drink. The museum has very much space even as it can fit thousands upon thousands of people. A really neat aspect is the few large planes that you can actually walk into, one being a presidential plane where you can walk through the narrow way, seeing what the inside looks like. I did not get to go through the entire museum but I do know there was at least one section where there was a touch screen game for children (this was in the second WWII section). There are new additions in one of the halls featuring a new car with very neat controls. Overall, the museum was incredible and definitely worth a weekend visit!
It was amazing the history they have at just one place!
Didn't have enough time to see everything but what I saw was amazing. The history inside that building is something you can't put into words. The displays are great with good info on each plane. The people wiring there are helpful and really nice! Must see this museum!
Free to go for adults an children. An pretty cool to see all the old time planes.
This is a must see for all people visiting the area. It is amazing display of planes and other things. They also have a memorial park with amazing statues and memorials to military. The area is quite large, plenty of parking places and spend time remembering the past. Great history lessons for all.
This is a good museum to visit if you are in the area! It is HUGE, and it takes more than 1 day to see the whole thing (not sure if I saw the whole thing). The admission is reasonable and the cafeteria is of good quality for museums!
You could spend the whole day here and still not see everything.
Great place to catch up on all the history related to aircrafts. Takes typically about 4 hours to complete the whole place, I would recommend everybody to wear a pair of comfortable shoes as there's a lot of walking.
Outstanding history of aviation and air Force into space exploration
Great museum. You could spend a week there and still not see everything.
Awesome place, but it's not conceal carry friendly, nor can you have much of a pocket knife. Even my little swiss army knife was too much for these folks. The aircraft are astounding though.
Extremely thorough walk through time of US aviation. Extremely eye opening.
A great place to take the family and read about the wars, and view planes
Absolutely huge museum, great for families and people who love planes.
Not enough cars.
Excellent museum reviewing the evolution of the airplane, as well as the Dayton connection, and recent air Force expiramental and Air Force one planes
This place is big. We've been here few times, but always didn't make it to fully see everything. This place needs entire day to explore. Good for kids!
Great place to visit. World war I, world war II, cold war planes and helicopters.
The most extensive aviation institution I have ever visited. If you had to choose one aircraft museum to go to, go here!
Lots to see, hadn't been there in about 10 years. Was pleased with what I saw and read.
It's a great museum with a lot of history. The real size models are amazing!
Spectacular Museum that is a must-see for everyone. Definitely world class
One of the top aviation museums in the nation. With the addition of the fourth hangar, you don't need to travel to see the presidential aircraft and advanced aircraft like the Valkrye. Since it is free, this is a great place to bring kids with more than enough space to walk around. Recommend going to the end rather quickly then taking time on the way back to see the things of interest in more detail.
Anyone who wants to know about aviation history can benefit coming here.
Displays constantly change, so if you go every 2-3 years, there's always something new. Memphis Belle is now on display and is beautiful!
Good history on how development of flying began. Has everything from pre WWI era till date. Has outlines of engines and the missiles and you can also go inside planes including all of the presidential planes. You can see all the bombs and missiles and payloads all the carriers are available to deliver. Has relevant info on almost everything. Plus you can meet the staff and ask them questions. They are courteous and nice
Been to several aviation museums over the years. This is absolutely the best. Can walk through it all. Be prepared to spend all day. Great place for adults and kids.
Amazing collection of historic aircraft and missiles. You need multiple days to really enjoy this entire museum.
A must visit! This place was so full of cool thi gs and information. The Auschwitz portion was somber and I was really pleased with how respectful people were. It really warmed me to see so many families there of so many different backgrounds all learning about history together on memorial day.
No words can describe it. You have to come see for yourself. Great experience. Birthplace of aviation.
Extremely interesting! Wish we had more time there to explore
A must see for anyone with an interest in aviation or American history. There are a splendid number of replicas and actual aircraft that are organized as though the visitor is working forward through time. This location also boasts a second floor cafe with a great top down view of the aircraft and a theatre. Well worth the time, expect to spend 2-3 hours to see everything at least briefly. Free to the public but I highly recommend leaving a donation to keep this great museum in operation.
My favorite place in Central Ohio! An amazing collection of historic and modern airplanes. The B2, SR71 exhibits are just awesome and a few of my favs
Fantastic. Enormous collection of US and other countries' planes. We need 2 days plus!
Wonderful museum with so much to see and learn about.
There is so much to see here. There is allot of history in those hangers.
The definitive "War Bird" collection is just the start. What makes each visit is everything else. The volunteers are the real history here, sharing their knowledge to give giant pieces of metal a life and a real explanation as to "why" they exist. And more than a collection of metal, this place exhibits the memorabilia from the places and events during the development of military aviation.
This is the most complete collection of aircraft I have ever seen. Very well done! Great docent tours too.
I can't believe this place is free. It's a HUGE museum, full of sooooooo much info and so many old airplanes! This is great for people into the air force, into airplanes, into war history, into US history....or just anybody. There's so much to look at that it could take hours - or a few days. There's guided tours if you arrive at the right times. In the last section of the museum, you ca even go into old versions of Air Force One.
Four huge hangers full of the history of aviation...complete military WWI, WWII, etc.
Amazing place! I hope to return sometime in the near future. Give your self a good 3 hours to look about the place. Cafeteria could use an upgrade on its offerings.
Better than Washington DC Air and Space Museum. So big that you'd better bring some good walking shoes. 1-day isn't hardly enough unless you're at a dead run.
This place is an ever-changing live history display. Every visit is different, intriguing and fascinating. The gift shop alone is worth the trip.
One of my most favorite places to go. Went on my birthday last week with my Sons. Adventure, history, and wonder
Make sure you set aside a few hours to peruse this museum, there is a lot to see. I'm not a fan of having to go through the gift shop when you enter and exit the museum.
This was our third visit and it's always interesting with new exhibits. It's amazing how quickly air flight has developed and grown. There's also some very moving displays on the Holocaust and the Berlin air drop. Plan on an entire day to allow time for visiting everything. You can also sign up to see several Air Force One planes nearby.
Great time for adults and kids alike. Also completely free.
I recommend 2 days if you actually are interested in learning and reading
It is a very fascinating place to view the history of airplanes
Beautiful exhibits and history well told. I learned a lot just from reading little parts of their signs. Recommended if you love airplanes because there are a ton!
Ginormous facility bursting with history and science and it is free! Nice outdoor memorial park for picnics also. Cafeteria food is pretty standard fare but you are there for the planes, shuttles, and missiles. Nicely maintained and staff is always happy to help.
A must see if you are in the area. A showcase of American aviation at its finest. No other place in the world comes any closer in the scope and depth of the collection it has. All the volunteer are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and pleasant.
So much to see and do. A showcase of our country's 20th century war heritage. Free admission.
Fantastic history. So much to see here. It was breath taking at times.
Awesome place!! Must visit place of you have interest in history and aviation.
Fascinating place....takes a whole day to see everything!
SR 71, B2, B1, F117, ICBMs, and free Wi-Fi. Cant go wrong when all are in the same vicinity.
Easily the world's best aviation themed museum. It's really hard to get the scale of this place. Next time I'll give myself 2 days .
Neat place, lots of neat stuff there. No cost to get in. Would highly recommend if in the area
Very good to see OUR PAST MILITARY'S AIRCRAFT .VERY CLEAN AND A GREAT SELECTION OF AIRCRAFT.AITTLE ON THE DARK SIDE.
