Lovely cinema, lovely people! Can only recommend going there
Quaint independent cinema. Kept better than chain cinemas, lovely comfy seats and plenty leg room!
Great independant cinema with good bar and late night cafe
The seats were comfortable and had good leg room. The live screening of All Our Sons was watched by approximately 9 million people. I bought a treacle toffee ice cream (some exotic flavours!) Which was nice.
Fantastic place with old style cinema screens. The place serves nice food and drink in the bar an restaurant, and most importantly of all you tend to get a nice respectful audience that don't talk or use mobile phones during the movie, unlike some places
Absolutely beautiful cinema. Art deco elegance in the centre of town
The tickets aren't incredibly expensive, the movie choice is definitely okay, the seats comfortable, and the building is beautiful. The toilets are clean, free, but at level 2 for men. If you are going for the first time, it is good to know that the popcorn and other food are available in the hall itself. Highly recommended!
Go here regularly. Always good service, varied menu and pleasant atmosphere.
A lovely cinema, intimate ambience, has been a stalwart in newcastle for many years, well worth a visit
A fantastic cinema for true film lovers. The new cafe/bar is a welcome addition.
Love this place. Had lunch this time and the food was lovely. Good value for the setting and service.
Great films, good, drink and service. Steeped in history.
I love this place, great for quirky films, comfy seats and bar is great.
Great viewing rooms ! Nice atmosphere and the bars are lovely
Love this place for the films, the friendliness and the food!
The best cinema in Newcastle by far. It has so much personality and each screen is different, but each are equally as comfy and immersive. They show a range of films, from the latest blockbusters to art house international and everything in between, along with an equally diverse range of events and screenings. They also have an excellent cafe and bar, which has a brunch and evening menu. Highly recommended.
Great independent cinema showing blockbusters and independent films
I've never had a bad experience at the Tyneside Cinema. It has to be the most comfortable cinema around with a great coffee bar to boot.
Intimate little cinema, with a fascinating aesthetic
Lovely place, great food and selection of films. Good events too!
Very relaxed , enjoyable atmosphere, great variety of films
Went to afternoon sat in Classic Circle very comfortable
Called in for food based on a recommendation, great food even better staff.
I helped host a digital marketing seminar here, excellent function rooms (cinemas) with helpful staff!
Great place in the centre of town to watch a movie the way they deserve to be watched.
Lovely building, lovely people, good choices of films to watch. Classic circle has leather armchairs, for one or two people, with space for drinks beside the seats for drinks/sweets.
Cafe and cocktail bar too.
Cheap tickets for students and a lovely cinema with comfy seats
With a perfectly executed cross between modern and classical cinemas, the movie is only half of the fun. Tyneside Cinema looks stunning and provides a great bar and food. They also have a wide range of showings available nowhere else, such as dementia-friendly showings and classical movie replays.
The best cinema in Newcastle. Great cafe/ bar, fantastic relaxing seats.
Pricey but great atmosphere and the smaller screenings mean it's easier to get really into the film
Excellant film and cinema ..nice helpful and friendly staff
Clean, cosy and friendly happy hour, great cocktails. Enjoyed it, we will go back.
Very cramped with nowhere to wait around for the screens to open apart from the bar where there was no tables free and nowhere out of the way to stand. Apart from that it was a pleasant enough experience although nothing special.
Older theatre with a nice atmosphere along with historical touches and current 'ish films. Plus ones that don't get shown in multiplex's
I love this place. I had my first date with my husband there 30 years ago, we still go and now our children go. Lovely food and equally lovely staff. Xx
Always plays the best in indie and foreign films alongside loads or mainstream movies.
Lovely building, lovely atmosphere, lovely cinema.
Surprise visit for my birthday, excellent experience and excellent customer service, with afternoon tea while watching the classic movie GiGi.
This place is a little gem. If you're planning on lunch, expect to wait a little while for a table if you're not there first thing; it's popular and for good reason: service is prompt and friendly and our meals were tasty and reasonably priced. Crab cakes appeared to have been homemade and were absolutely delicious. My sausage and mash was hearty and satisfying. The sausages were artisanal and tasty. Coffee is real bean barista coffee and there was a nice selection of homemade cakes to go with it. If you've got a lunchtime to kill, you could do much worse than grab a bite at the Tyneside Cinema.
Visited today - a small group of us were shown around by an extremely knowledgeable and entertaining guide called Chris. What a fabulous place, this was a free tour and I believe that Chris Mc..? is a volunteer (but donations are always welcome), great history and wonderful decor and comfortable seating. Would highly recommend you visit.
Okay. I dont agreed when there is no seat can be booked
The best cinema I've been to. Excellent historic building right in the centre of the city with a wonderful bar. Excellent choice of films too, old classics and new releases. Myself and my girlfriend booked to see Joker online. Unfortunately, she wasn't well on the day, and we weren't able to go. No problem for the staff though, I rang the office and explained the situation and they booked me another night without charge. Even wished my girlfriend better help before I hung up. Thank you so much!
Fabulous 'night of good cheer' it's a wonderful life with mince pie, prosecco and choir
Enchanting decor and atmosphere. A great place to take your partner for a date with a little extra. Especially if you book a sofa seat. Well worth a visit to filter out the youth and have a more mature experience with a nice selection of tipple. The restaurant/cafe serves lovely food, but you do pay a little more.
Amazing cinema, beautiful screens, great location. Been a good few times. Thanks for the experience
Cool artsy - type Theater, showing movies that you might otherwise miss, highly recommended.
The best cinema in Newcastle! They show blockbusters but also indie films and smaller runs. Friendly staff and comfy seats, I love it.
Love this place. Great place to watch films and enjoy a glass of wine
Great venue, loads of history. They show a varied assortment of films. Worth keeping an eye on events here.
Great place. A cinema, a coffee shop, and a bar & restaurant all in one place.
- Cinema screens are good and the seats are comfortable. They show big international films in addition to smaller ones.
- The bar/restaurant has a nice atmosphere.
- The coffee shop upstairs tends to be much quiter.
Nice cinema but impossible to book online--password and username are never accepted. Almost impossible to buy tickets over the phone as the message is they're too busy
Shows a lot of old films. No parking but wheelchair accessible. There is a lift inside the building. You can get a nice meal there or a snack at a reasonable price. It's a bit tucked out of the way.
Wonderful friendly gentle Cinema..a fantastic step back on time..huge comfortable seats and plenty of leg room..will not be going to anymore soulless overpriced Multiplex after having visited this gorgeous cinema.
The tyneside is by far the best place to see movies in Newcastle!
A good experience. Comfortable seats without a booming soundtrack and the bar was a bonus
Nice place to meet up with friends in the centre of town
It's just brilliant..great range of food and drink in classic cinemas
I went with my partner who is new to his disability and needed a couple of little nudges in the right direction. The staff are outstanding. They enjoy there work and it shows.
Too comfortable to be event cinema. Web site not very navigable. Free tickets from National Lottery today but auditorium not even a third full. Something clearly wrong with marketing. I think it's aimed at the already converted rather than attracting newcomers. A cosy experience if that's what you want from a trip to the flix.
A varied choice of films and a great drinks and food selection in the cafe.
A cosy little gem of a place...but not so little. It's the ambiance...and the drinks and food are delicious too!!
Good film selection and very nice bar, food also good. Lovely old building, like stepping back in time.
Great look and feel to this restored cinema, good coffee and cake too.
