One of my favourite places. A real diamond in the rough that is Newcastle. Although, disappointingly but not surprisingly, now caters to the uncultured and the cafe attracts A lot of Guardian readers

Must be rolling in it.
Service and showing, fine.
Four quid for a mini bag of nuts!

Popped in with my wife and kids for a drink in December after the Xmas market. Sound little bar and child-friendly. Special mention to the barman called Tommy - Good conversation and very helpful as I was on crutches. Would definitely recommend.

So much character and atmosphere. This is the best cinema in the north east. Comfy seats with lots of leg room. Quirky films and knowledgeable staff. A trip to the cinema here is a experience everyone must have.

The cinema itself is a wonderful place. The cafe on the ground floor less so, sadly. Overpriced coffee - they didn't even have cinnamon or cocoa powder to dust the froth on the coffee, and the staff seemed not to care much. The various cinemas are well maintained and comfortable.

Absolutely amazing. Brilliantly restored auditorium and great contemporary screens too. While they don't have all the latest releases do to lack of screens, they have a fantastic array of artistic works and classic movie screenings.

Three separate venues for food, drinks and coffee (great coffee) and lots of old cinema equipment to look at.

A must see.

A wonderful cinema which caters to a variety of people, has different styles of film view rooms (e.g. the "classical" screening room is the most old fashioned and has a curtain), and the the cinema has a range of indie and mainstream films on offer. The staff are helpful and the range of drinks is good (including vegan ice creams and alcoholic beverages).

A classic cinema, with history and a heartbeat. A friendly, interesting place with wonderful events, a diverse community - a Newcastle institution. Visitors (and locals) should check out the free tours and news reels, date night couples the leather couches upstairs in the Classic.

I've always loved going to this place..it's more of a unique experience than anything else..yes the BIG cinemas are nice but this always feels homely with ice cream being served at the front how it used to be

Not too impressed with the cafe upstairs with frozen fish and hard chips. It's definitely not as good as it used to be

Love visiting this cinema. Reasonably priced, comfy seats, food and drinks can be bought in the screening up until the trailers begin. Really nice bar and cafe to visit before and/or after the film as well.

We did kids club on a Sat morning and my little girl loved it. If you have a young one and your looking to introduce them to the cinema then this was perfect friendly staff well worth a try

I love the Tyneside. Art Deco building. Arthouse cinema. If you think you're a 'somebody',you'll meet like-minded types there or,if like me,you just love films and enjoy watching them in fine surroundings, then the Tyneside is the place to be.

Probably the best cinema in the North East. Fantastic kiosks, downstairs bar and coffee shop, with upstairs tea rooms and three screens, including The Classic which has sofa seats for two available. Always a brilliant experience.

My favourite environment for film viewing either alone or with friends. Each screen environment has its own personality & you feel that its marketed for the cinema public by people who care about all walks of life. It's not just a cinema business, it's an essential part of the community.

For me is the best tourist spot with 8 decades of open doors (1937) that makes for this cinema the heritage heart of Newcastle upon Tyne.

It's the ideal place to interact with family, friends and the multicultural community of this rich and beloved City.

The cinema has good acoustics and very comfortable seats to enjoy the diversity films for all tastes and trends.

Why?

Well, hehehe, the cinema have some great spots such as the 4 auditoriums, meeting rooms and three cafes on site, definitely Tyne side Cinema is a wonderful cultural space and an inter-social and multicultural destination for who wants to be part of the soul of their city they live in or gracing us with their touristic visit.

And so what's?

Well, I could say that The cinema acted as a theater and newsreel in his youngest age and today's function acts as a cinema that offers a rich and diverse artistic program of films, exhibitions and events in artistic films, and cinematographic heritage - film projection programs, movie theater and live events AND IT IS FOR ALL AFES AND LIFESTYLES.

EXPECTING SEE YOU THERE, FIND ME IN THE CAFE.

Have been here to see films and for foods and drinks. The food is great, bistro style with decent ales on draught and lots of cinema culture themed paraphernalia dotted about. The cinemas are very quirky, old-fashioned and with comfortable chairs. This is a true cinema-lovers cinema and has all of the charm that it's chain counterparts lack.

Great little cinema for a night out. Probably not best for the Marvel blockbuster but you can have a drink and tasty meal in the Cafe first and take a drink in if you like. It's not limited to obscure films at all but they are just the right amount of selective.

Loved it!
