Tuffy's Eatery Review

I booked a party for my husband Saturday January 27 2018 at 5 pm, When i booked i paid my deposit and it was raining so i couldnt get to the restaurant. Manager Johnnie and Cindy was very responsive to the situation he emailed me the contract and was very clear on how the contract was. When i arrived i arrived with smiles. Our waitress was wonderful, no one out of 15 people had a empty glass, all he food was delicious as always. At the end of the party the cashier at the front was very helpful. We had a great turn out and great time. Thanks Tuffies for never disappointing!

Chicken fried steaks not to my liking but the chicken fried chicken was a home run

Home of the famous Tuffy's Rolls! The food is good but the service is very hit and miss. The last time we were there we left after 45 minutes and no food, evidently there was a large group that kept adding people and in an effort to keep them happy they sacrificed the satisfaction of other tables. The server brought me a glass of carbonated water twice after the first time of me telling her the Dr. Pepper needed to be changed. However, I've been there when the service was on point and food delivered quickly.

We had the rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding here. We were in a private room with 40 people with dedicated staff. The food was great and plentiful. The wait staff did a great job tending to our needs.
We couldn't have been happier with food, service and the price.

People were nice and chicken fried steak were good.

Mu wife and I have been there three times since they reopened. All three times we had great service and awesome rolls. Hamburger steak, chicjen fried chicken and steak are awesome and the by far the best onion rings I've eaten in a long time. Highly recommend you check them out.

It is always good! I had their Friday special, Catfish Florentine and it was delicious. My husband had the 14 oz. Ribeye. Amazing food & service. Of course their homemade rolls, choco peanut butter pie & Italian cream cake was fantastic. Great prices as well. Very satisfactory. 5 stars for sure.

Visiting a fellow marine I served with. He and his wife insisted l go to tuffys with them. I had stuffed crab and catfish and the German chocolate cake. Got rolls and a merangue pie. The food was good and the waitress was very good. 5 stars

The food was delicious and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly

The staff was great, the food was even better. My ribeye steak was perfectly cooked, the green beans were perfect and the catfish was awesome.

This was my boyfriend s and my second date, and we still joke about how bad it was to this day five months later. Our waitress told us that the rolls were world famous...we literally have never eaten worse rolls in our lives. They have the consistency of cornbread in my opinion, and my boyfriend thinks that they could construct buildings with them. He ordered catfish, which was apparently the only semi-edible thing there, and some sides, and I had a burger with onion rings. I didn t know it was possible to ruin all these different foods in one meal, but apparently it s doable at Tuffy s. The place was also loud and had the comfortability of a school cafeteria. My boyfriend even told me later that he was scared that there wouldn t be a third date because of how bad it was (obviously it wasn t his fault). I hate Mexican food, but I d rather eat at Taco Bell than come here again.

Food is awesome. From the onion rings to the fried shrimp. Don't forget the chicken fried steak and the most important the rolls. So glad your back Van and Josetta.

Overall great food & service..my only disappointment .... they was out of COCONUT pie.. boo

We all ordered different things. They all were good. They had live music(a little loud when you have someone that is hard of hearing in your group)but, he was good. Waitress worked hard to get everything right, and did.

Rolls are not the same, the fried pork chops were really fatty.

Well we have been in the area working for the past two months and have eaten at Tuffys about 40 times. Service and food has always been good and as with any business, you get a hiccup from time to time. But as a courtesy for any issue, it was taken care of promptly. I don t recall all the wait staff, but Whitney has been very cheerful and pleasant, along with Demi who is always smiling and makes you smile. It s a great place to eat and just feel at home.

I liked it. People was friendly. It's a cozy place with lots of room. Your not crowded. I will go back.

It was great to be able to eat at Tuffy's again! It was just like I remembered before. Food was excellent, portions were huge, etc. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, it was almost bigger than the plate! The prices are reasonable. The owner came by the table and chatted with us, very nice. Keep it up, I don't want Tuffy's to ever close again!

The food was great the saturday live music was great. The only problem was the chicken fried steak was too big for the plate they bring it on.

Original Tuffy's was so great. It is now barely a shadow of it's former self. Incredibly disappointed. Seafood gumbo was luke warm with only shrimp. The stuffed crabs were missing crabmeat; nearly all stuffing. The restaurant itself feels like a cafeteria with industrial florescent lighting and odd decorations. Miss the original, dim lighted restaurant with very unique decor. We had a party of 8 and all of us felt the food was pretty average - will be our last time going.

Great food, great service, and they even have a senior menu part. Yummy....

A nice little old school dinner. The portions are huge. The chicken fried chicken has a little spicy kick. Dont order the sweet tea.

It took 45 mins to get our food. I ordered a fried chicken salad. The lettuce was frozen and the chicken was cold. My friend ordered a hamburger steak. It was raw inside . Was NOT impressed at all.

The food is fantastic and you get large portions. The waitresses are friendly and make sure you have what you need.

The food is always delicious and plentiful, the service friendly. Sometimes, at peak times, you will need to not be in a hurry. Tuffy's is not a place to rush through, anyway, so waiting a few minutes is not a problem. We always enjoy it!

Excellent food and service. The live singer was incredible and really added to the experience. First time I've been there and will go back!

Good food, only thing I have tried and disliked was fish

Very disappointing. This was my second time to give this restaurant a shot. Got the same thing both times and it was gross both times. Grilled shrimp baked potato which was a huge potato topped with 6lbs of cheese and a few MUSHY (emphasis on mushy) bland, tiny shrimp. Maybe take a note from Spankys on how to do spuds. Even the pie I ordered had an odd taste.

Good food and service, newly reopened by different owner, no too expensive

My wife and I went ta Tuffy's for Father's day. We both had to chicken fried steak with mashed taters with white gravy and fried okra. We got there and checked in and in about five minutes we were seated and asked what we wanted ta drink and gave us time ta figure out what we wanted. When they brought us our food we were surprised how big the portions were. The service was excellent. Allison our waitress was very friendly and very polite. They were very busy but they had time ta get us what we need. I give Tuffy's a five all the way. Tuffy's y'all did a great job and God Bless y'all.

Four star review after a rather welcome conversation with the owner Mr. VanChoate. The restaurant was rather busy this evening so our waitress was hopping...it was frustrating nonetheless, seemingly us feeling neglected. But we took it in stride. Our food came out after about 30 minutes of us being there and was incorrectly put together. We brought it to the attention of the manager who QUICKLY corrected the issue. After finishing our meal (my boyfriend his completely and mine saved for the microwave later) Mr. VanChoate stopped by our table to ask how things were to which we both responded honestly with our concerns. He very professionally and kindly explained the situation and even a brief history lesson of this restaurant and seemed to empathize rather well...taking all into consideration, he offered, and we accepted, a dessert on the house. Overall, a rather mediocre experience made into an exceptional one, thanks to an exceptional owner.

P.S. The chocolate cake is amazing, try it...

Really delicious food! Fast and very friendly service! My piece of chicken fried chicken was the size of the dinner plate!

Rolls are the best, great waiter. The food... not so good. I love batter, but my chicken fried steak had so much batter to make it look huge, its not. It's also super thin and still managed to have gristle. I think they forgot to season it. No salt or pepper on the meat. The cream gravy was like water. The meal deserved 1 star, honestly.

My absolute favorite place to eat! Catfish is amazing!
