Tuffy's Eatery Review

We live in Port Neches but I was in Mauriceville last week working on a rent house. We've been wanting to try /
Tuffy's for a while. I Ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich for me & a chicken fried steak dinner for my wife, both ToGo. Got home... Steaks Looked big & nice...then I bit into it! My wife adds Salt to almost Everything. BUT... Both steaks were sooo Salty... We literally could Not eat it until we pulled the crust off. Crust peeled off real easy in 1whole piece. Cook must have dropped a whole salt shaker into the Batter. Of course the Steak itself wasn't seasoned... I've had better chicken fried steak out of frozen tv dinner & that is the truth! I assume it must have just been ours that night cause it's supposedly what they are famous for. Guess I should've went with a big cheeseburger instead... IDK?!

Ordered chicken fried chicken had so much chicken I ate half of it I was so full I was hurting I loved it

Me and the wife went here for the first time service was great and the sweet tea is awesome. My food I ordered a burger with cheese and bacon any onion rings. My burger was tasteless. My wife got the super Spud. That thing was huge it said us for two more meals once we took it home well worth the money we will be back and hopefully I can raise the Stars. Although while there a waitress had a Trey up to her head holding it walking down the aisle , turn to talk to a customer and her hair brushed over the food. Maybe it's just me.

The food was great the service was awsome and the atmosphere was great also . Everyone was helpful and friendly . Best place to eat in Mauriceville . Thanks to Van and his wife for reopening Tuffys .

Home cooking at it's best, and their shrimp gumbo is off the chain good

I went eat here since it reopened because it was so good last time I ate at Tuff's before it closed. The fried catfish and corn is not only as good but better and the prices there were very reasonable for the amount of food you get and the service is very good.. This place is worth the drive to Mariceville.

Food was great. We go there at 11 am on Sunday, we are able to get places. 12 noon were had to wait to eat

We went here to celebrate. What a mistake. My fish came out white and was supposed to be blackened. What they did have cooked was already falling off the uncooked fish. I was then asked do you want it more blackened in a smart tone. The fish first off wasn t even cooked right, when it came back it was another smart comment about is this fish blackened etc etc . The manager was sitting at the table talking to someone he knew, he did nothing...... He sat there and did absolutely nothing. I looked at him and said my food is a wrong, the pastors food is cold, and another guests food was Luke warm at best. My son sat at the end of the table with a empty glass the whole time. At the end of service she put a gratuity 35$ ! Seriously ! You know you messed us over and want to insure yourself a tip you do not deserve. What a lousy place this has turned into. We won t be going Tuffys again. Ridiculous. The owner should read this and take note. P.s if you want reliable service for a party stay away

Friendly staff, good food, reasonable prices. Our waitress had a great sense of humor.

We were so pleased to hear that Tuffy's has reopened. The food was as good as we remembered, and the rolls were amazing as usual.

They service was good, but my meal was not. Shrimp and rice with broccoli and cauliflower and carrots. The shrimp was cold and the broccoli was burnt in spots and the rice kernal lack flavor and they we're not cooked completely. I spent most of my meal picking uncooked rice from my mouth. This is not the meal I was expecting from Tuffys. I raved about Tuffys to my new wife and later apologized. No one ask me how my meal was or ask me to come back again. The young man at the register never smiled or ask me anything except do I want a receipt. I would hope that this was just a bad day there. If you choose to waste your money on a meal this is the place.

I and two of my co-workers from out of state came here for the first time, and we all enjoyed our food and dessert. The place is nice sized and very cute! I also really liked the gift shop section in the front ( we're all buying hats ). I will definitely be coming back here whenever I'm in Orange

First chicken fried chicken they brought out was still raw. My wife and son both had chicken fried steak and they were still partially rare, very chewy, and had no flavor. Only gave it 2 stars because server was good and the rolls were great.

First and foremost if your eating as a family I can say this if you have a horrible waitress, you still pay them gratuity, which shouldn't happen because the service sucked. Now the food and the live music was good, but they need a change in there service and what gets me is my brother in law ordered gumbo to try it out they gave him beef tips and rice and put sausage on top and called it gumbo, and still charged him for it, even though he complained to the waitress about it. I'm sorry if you want business its based off of first impression since its been are first time in a long time being there, were definitely not going back. Oh! and Red Wagon serves buffet with fish and gumbo and a salad bar including a dessert 8.95 per person. Great service too, but no live music, but that doesn't bother me at least they know how to appreciate there customers.

Best desserts in town, try the dream pie... it's dreamy!

My husband and I enjoy the seniors meal that comes with grilled fish on top of rice with one side and the wonderful rolls for $5.99. The fish is deliciously seasoned Cajun but not too hot. It's plenty to eat. A great meal!

This place was once a great eatery but since it's reopened the food is not at.all that great. It lacks alot of knowledge in cooking food without the fatty mess of breading they put on the food. Nasty chicken fried chicken & tough steak meats. You need to go back to learning how to cook correctly & spice dishes accordingly, sorry to be honest about what we got on that visit to your place. Not recommended for now but I will try it again another time.

We dine out a lot. Price wise Tuffy s is comparable to most places we go. We ll definitely be back.

So glad this place is back open. Food is just as food as it was when Mike had it.

Enjoyed a cup of delicious chicken and sausage gumbo along with a junior fried shrimp dinner, fried okra and lemon pie.

The food was really delicious. The rolls and desserts were amazing. The staff was attentive and friendly. Already planning our next visit.

Even on a very busy Saturday night, the service was friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent. Prices are very reasonable, and the entertainment was classically country. Tuffy's is what hometown Texas is all about, and it's not to be missed if you're looking for authentic Southern food.

Ordered shrimp and catfish. They weren't seasoned at all. And the fries tasted liked they had been cooked for awhile. However prices were reasonable and service was good.

Best place in Mauriceville for dining out... period! Simple menu items that are served in generous portions. Very hospitable staff from entering hungry to leaving very satisfied

Alot of great memories at this place! I need to get back out there soon & see the lovely Miss Cindy. She is a wonderful woman who loves what she does & works harder than most people.

Try the fried shrimp spud or chicken fried chicken spud! You wont be disappointed.

The food was overcooked. The live entertainment was too loud. Went there for a meal. Not an amateur concert. The wait staff was pleasant and helpful. But the lack of skills in the kitchen killed the meal experience. Should separate dining and music. And fix that menu. Please. Food used to be better. But not now....can cook it better at home. Business was clean but need to separate gift shop from entrance area. Too much junk to sell. Looking junky there....

Great food! You must try the pies. Buy a whole pie and take one home for later. They are reasonable priced.

Service was exceptional! Our server was delightful & friendly & the food is absolutely delicious! Made my first experience here one to remember & we will definitely be back. The chocolate cake is perfect!!

Tuffy's was good. The size of portions were good and the food was good. On my visit there was nothing outstanding that would compel me to come back tomorrow nor was there anything that would keep me from ever coming back...it was simply average, in my opinion. I think they were a bit shorthanded as the staff seemed a bit frazzled with a less than busy crowd, but overall service was good.

Good comfort food, chicken fried chicken can be spilt for 2! Mac & Cheese is back, just have to ask for it! Server was great too, high five to Rylee!

Greeted by Van Choate and seated. Who by the way, left to purchase from a fundraiser selling food next door. Taking care of by Meagan & Morgan. Food was great, gumbo a little salty. All in all, a good atmosphere, good people and a wonderful place to eat.

Always great food! Also a great owner!! This place never disappoints hands down.
