Good signage, plenty of parking, a number of amenities including restrooms, water fountains, and picnic tables. It was a nice little refuge with an assortment of trails.

Trails were great. Seasonal trails were still closed, but still a great little 2 mile walk.
Great walk around d the refuge.. Except for the paths being mostly gravel..
Nice area for a walk. Wasn't much activity when visiting.
Peaceful nature area. We saw so many different birds while we were there. Unfortunately we only looked from the patio and did not get to walk around (my kids weren't cooperative) to see things closer up.
What a great place to get centered! Something different entry visit
Great nature walk. Plenty of local wildlife to see, photograph, and educate kids about.
Great open space close to home but you feel far from it. Let's you breath the fresh air without having to drive hours.
This is a really fun place to walk around if you are looking for a quick stroll. During the winter months only one main trail is open lol, but it's still a fun, short walk. There was a lot of waterfowl around so for those of you into bird watching I bet this would be a great area. They even have a bound you can reserve for free for photography. The visitor center has a fair amount of fun activities for young kids as well.
A fantastic place to walk with plenty of places to sit and enjoy a pretty view.
End of December and some trails are closed due to nesting birds, but still a beautiful place to walk and see some birds and waterfowl.
Very nice walk in am. Saw many heron. Birds nest above door of mens restroom still has chicks. Looks like they are about ready to leave nest
This is a nice place to go and view nesting waterfowl up close. The walk is gentle and there are several viewing decks that provide an excellent place to view the wet lands. The Nature Center also has materials that are helpful in helping you identify the variety of wildlife at the refuge.
Great place for everyone to see wild life and appreciate nature.
A gem in the shadow of the city! Restorative nature trails and views. Great gift shop that supports efforts. Always learn something new. Dedicated volunteers.
If the weather is nice you can take a walk around the park
There is a nice trail system through the refuge that takes you through a variety of habitats. Best time to visit is fall/winter when migrating waterfowl are on the refuge. There's a nice visitor center as well.
Good to get out and walk. There is a new trail that is fun to see.
Lovely place for a walk in the beautiful Oregon countryside. Lots of hiking trails and a visitors center.
If you're a bird it's a great place. There's hiking and zero occupiers.
I love this place to death and now they have two gyms in the front and at least two more on the walking path!!! I love this place so much. I have nothing but positive and relaxing experiences here!!
The treatment and care for speices of birds is beautiful here too hear.
A huge loop to hike around with natural wild life (deer). It's a large enough loop for a good amount of excersize.
One of my favorite escapes close to home. Easy walk and glimpses of wildlife help make for a nice break from normal life.
It has a nice visitor center and it looks like they do educational classes there which is awesome. There's a couple of trails that go around the wetlands. The trails are almost all flat and smooth so you can push a stroller, and it's not too tough for older folks.
There was a poster board saying they are going to be doing a restoration project summer of 2019 to take Chicken Creek out of the channelized straight 'ditch' it's been in since some farmer did it back in the day, and put it back in it's historic channel. Looks like it will have much better connection to the floodplain and wetlands that are currently there as well. It looks like a fantastic restoration project and I'm excited to see the progress and how it turns out. Will definitely be visiting this summer and after it's done to see how it turns out. It's definitely going to be a massive improvement and will restore a substantial amount of quality habitat.
Final note: NO DRONES. I was pretty bummed to see this as I honestly came here specifically to fly and get photos, but I completely understand and obviously complied. Just want to put it out there in case it helps other pilots.
Liked the Refuge, although Feb. is not the best month, as they tell visitors in the literature, to visit. Too much "between seasons". Lots of Canadas & Cackling Geese. Some Mallards, coots, but hunting season is over and birds are dispersing. We'll be back in the spring-summer.
Beautiful spot for birdwatching. There is a great visitor center and gift shop and easy trails for families.
Perfect destination to enjoy nature and a peaceful walk.
I saw a bald eagle catch a fish on November 16 2018.
This is our favorite place to walk in the area. It is also great for photography. We are never disappointed in what we see around us here, could be anything from birds, mammals and wildflowers. It is simply beautiful.
Great long loop around the area (when it is open for the season). Terrific visitors center and gift shop. Lots to see and do! Fairly flat paths. Lots of wildlife to see!
It was peaceful and serene. Very beautiful scenery!
Excellent place for a walk, any season. It is really flat, so not very challenging.
A lovely little retreat. With both marshlands and woodlands to enjoy!
Park is beautiful!
One star for staff members.
It's actually kind of amazing but yeah there's actually some cool stuff to see here
Beautiful day spent walking, watching the wildlife, and enjoying the sun.
A real quiet surprise. Birds galore, people to help.
It is so refreshing to experience an eco system just minutes from the highway, and rest for a moment.
Flat surface, well maintained trail. Good for strollers and light hiking.
This is a wonderful place to go for a short hike. The trails are well-maintained and there are seating locations along the routes. I look forward to being a frequent visitor.
This is not for people or people's pets it's for wildlife only. Viewing form car only.
Nice visitor center, helpful volunteers and of course, wildlife to observe!
Nice place to go for a walk. Kind of muddy currently, so don't wear your favorite shoes.
Couldn't stay long, but we'll be back.
A wonderful walk & beautiful area. I took 3 grandchildren & they collected feathers.
Walking only! Just the right size for a brisk activity.
Excellent facility and wonderful place to hike and watch wildlife. No dogs since they disurb the wildlife.
GO SEE AND FEEL FREE!! it is breath taking! And they have educational work shops on sundays! It's super fun
A quiet little nature refuge that doesn't allow pets. The trails are all pretty flat and well defined.
A tranquil place to walk the trails, look for birds and just be out in nature.
Great bird selection. Not hilly. Has both woodsy areas and open spaces.
Very pretty area to take a nice walk and also enjoyed the visitor center and getting to watch some birds .
We visited in August and the wetland was very dry. Luckily, we saw an eagle at the top of the tree right next to the visitor center.
They have two hikes. A short year round hike and a bigger loop that only opens seasonally. We did the short hike and had a good time Not much to see because it was so dry. We'll have to come back in October or maybe in the spring.
Highly recommended nature preserve just a short drive from Portland. Main wetlands trail is closed during winter, but still a great place to walk and enjoy scenery and the nesting birds. They have telescopes in the visitor center if you don't bring your own binoculars. Cool spot.
This place is beautiful. There are a pair of Eagles that have taken up residence and a whole slew of other animals ranging from River Otters to Nutrias.
Mostly gravel paths. Not soft, quiet tree mulch paths.
Absolutely a jewel of Sherwood. The paths are well maintained. Visitor center is amazing. Keep in mind there are two entrances to this park. One off of the 99W and another off of Roy Rogers Road (on the east side there of) just prior to the Scholls/Sherwood intersection.
A wonderful outdoor space located just off the highway providing picnic area, trails, visitor center, full bathrooms, and educational opportunities. I definitely recommend stopping here for a walk during any season to see wildlife.
Important notes: no dogs or jogging on the trails as it will scare wildlife away.
Great place for all ages.
Worth the trip,educational&fun
One of the better wetland areas close in towards the greater Portland metro.
Great for waterfowl shooting, (photos, that is) and a good length of low impact walking trails as well.
