Bad service, Unreliable, you pay for a service for which most of the time you get delays of 20 to 30 minutes. If you want to rely on this service to go to work, I recommend taking the trains at least an hour earlier than you would normally take. Bad experience in one month of use. We want to avoid crowds and there are delays of 30 minutes with a consequent increase in people inside the same train.

Good railway company that gives the best on the Ferrovie Nord network. On the FS network I would not be able to make certain judgments for sporadic attendance
The trains are not always punctual and at peak times they are overcrowded, the station of itself is well maintained, with a good security service and some shops in it.
Also last night around 7pm the train stops at Cadorna Station, the descent from the train must be rapid because there is the risk of being locked in. The lights go out in the wagons and the button used to open the door consequently becomes inactive. Some people beat against the door shouting to open, we tried to help them but it was not possible, so we called the train driver asking to reactivate the light device and then the doors. He was smoking and chatting about what was completely legitimate, less legitimate the imprecazione that pulled back on the train and throwing the lit cigarette on the sidewalk. But it is possible that passengers with problems in the legs, elderly people, or with children in strollers do not have time to get off the train in a decent way.
Inevitably chaotic station given the large number of public transports that pass in the square. Train delays are not rare. However, the restaurants, fast food, tobacco, etc. are positive. inside and immediately outside the structure
One of the bigger train stops in Milan. It connects Milan with the northern part of Italy (Como - Lecco - Varese, Novara, etc.). It is also a departure station for Malpensa Express train that takes you in less than 45min to the airport's Terminal 1 (one-way ticket is 12e). It has many useful utilities (WC, restaurants, bars, shops) but in the night it doesn't seem so safe even though there is always some police car nearby. So, for late departures/arrivals, I would suggest fast in&out!
Trains always late, absurd closing times for level crossings. Complaints service that replies after months and with incomparable answers. The train managers, the drivers for their kindness and availability, and the esteem for having to endure the right complaints of users deserve 4 stars.
Spaces have always been very badly organized. Now with the anticovid rules the seats are 1/3 compared to before. If you have to wait for a train or are lucky enough to find a free seat or stand for hours. Despite being an open station it is very dark. Visibly degrades the presence of a multitude of non-doing things that wander around the square obstructing access to the metro. You have to do the slalom and MUCH ATTENTION TO BAGS.
Trenord Assistance, even today, proved to be excellent. The guys at the counter were quick to solve any problem, and extremely polite and polite. This is definitely a winning front desk
I am forced to give a negative review not for delays, cancellations and dirt (problems which, I recognize, are increasingly rare), but for a specific and very serious reason: the ignorance of some controllers who contest a ticket regularly purchased at the station, because they don't know the indirect routes. In this case, it is the Induno Olona - Milan 55 km 5,50 ticket, valid for the Induno Olona - Varese - short walk - Varese Nord - Milan Cadorna route, ticket that I show to the controllers and some of them to me they dispute, arguing that it is valid for the Milano Porta Garibaldi station (of a different band). This is completely unacceptable for a Western country a few kilometers from Switzerland: if I buy a ticket at the station, I have every right to be able to remain calm if the controller passes by, and the validity of a travel document must be objective, and not vary according to the interpretation of each controller.
And so also to me, who am a serious person, who recognizes how much improvement has been recently made in terms of punctuality and cleanliness, Trenord completely loses face for a nonsense and that is the ignorance of some controllers regarding tickets and related routes. . Which then I'm almost sure that the same controllers, inside themselves, realize they have made a mistake, but instead of admitting it, they use their oratory skills to make themselves right anyway. (in one case the inspector on duty claimed to be the only one to enforce the rules, being appalled by the fellow controllers who instead do not enforce them).
I tried to lodge a complaint, so that it no longer happens that I am accused of irregularities in my travel document in front of other passengers, but to no avail: the Trenord company never blames its controllers even in the face of mathematics.
(In addition, I am very sorry to say this, not to pass for racist but, given the accent, the build and the facial features, I have every impression that the controllers who unfairly contest regular train tickets are southerners who are not familiar with the routes. Lombard - which they should know like everyone else -).
We need more checks especially in the evening ... not to mention the systematic delays during the year ... Anyway it is a useful service for the city and for those coming from outside the city ... to be improved ... but 3 stars go well.
UPDATE September 4th 2019 - the train to Seveso at 8:30 from Milan Porta Vittoria has left 2-3 minutes early. At 8:27 I passed in front of me and I couldn't catch it.
I have been traveling with Trenord for 5 years. 99% of the time trains are late. In some cases the trains even depart early. Almost always dirty trains, ZERO checks and ZERO security in the evening. The worst transport service I know of, among all those I've tried.
You don't know when you leave, you don't know when you arrive. Always if you leave or arrive. Disruptions of all kinds, delays, full trains, active heating in the middle of summer, non-functioning air conditioners, dirty trains, strange smells, the service is almost always good ... it goes to periods.
