Bought a tow matrix trans from them. Only lasted 2 months. They remanned it at no charge, but refused shipping and labor. 2 nd one lasted 8 months. They shipped another one and once again refused shipping and labor. I've paid for 3 transmission installs in the last year and have a truck in scared to leave town with. I wouldn't recommend doing business with these people

Go some where else I am very sorry I didn't. I was told by a local shop not to buy from them. I did any way the transmission would not shift. They are very hard to work with if you have problems.
Very nice person on the phone helped me out even after I told him I live in AZ. The person took the time to answer my questions. He really knows transmission repair and transmission kickdowns. Thx
Bad customer service. Gave a time frame and it was a week later. Was missing a piece. Everytime we called for a update we got a different story and time frame. Ended up costing us more money than it was worth. Will never use again.
First of all,I bought the dodge dakota , not knowing that the trans was bad. I went to my local transmission shop here in olympia, and they quoted 4 thousand for a rebuilt transmission. I called around a little and then went on to the internet and found these guys, in Portland with 50 years of history and they quoted 1850. For the same build and 2 years better on the guarantee. Since the truck is only a 3 thousand dollar truck, I was just trying to keep it in perspective. I have had it in and driving it for a month now, and it feels good.
ITS A SCAM DONT ORDER. HE WILL NEVER SEND THE TRANSMISSION! They when you cancel he charges you a restock fee. What he said on the phone is different then he uses his return policy to rip you off. Then he send you back bad checks as refunds. Do a search, do make the same mistake I did!
I bought from them one 4L60E with heavy duty add ons for my 1998 chevy tahoe, it's now 40000+ km and its running in excellent conditions. they make a great work, excellent quotes. Highly recommended.
I am reading this review today oct 2020, transmission still running perfectly, more than 90000km
High prices for poor service. 1st transmission they sold me was the wrong model. Then I had to wait on the right model while my build was stalled. Frustrating.
Best People to due Business with Have done Business with them for more than 17 years and have NEVER HAD A DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER EVEN IF THEY HAD A PROBLEM.. TRANSMISSION EXCHANGE WAS THERE NO QUESTIONS, ONLY PLACE I WILL DO BUSINESS FOR TRANSMISSION WORK..
There's a reason they have been in business for so long. Great staff, Great prices. Bonus points for having a framed picture of their 1965 Chevy delivery van.
The complete transmission, although only a few weeks old, seems to be working well. The people that run this place are unorganized and the communication among departments here is analogous to that of a zoo ran by monkeys.
I was told to call Thursday to verify if I could drive seven hours to go pick up my transmission (I was taking my core transmission back and a new rebuild kit that I didn't end up using)the next day on Friday. I called 20-minutes before they closed on Thursday and they told me that they would dyno the new transmission in the a.m. (Friday) and that it would be ready to pick-up by afternoon. Getting this transmission in my work truck was imperative. I showed up Friday evening to pick up my new transmission and drop-off my core and parts kit. The transmission was not ready for pick-up, even though they told me it would be. I drove 7 hours up there for no reason. They told me that they would kick me down an additional $100 for my troubles on top of my reimbursement for the parts kit.
A few days later another monkey, via email, told me that I couldn't claim that additional $100 and then quit responding to my emails.
This is the price you pay for dealing with uneducated professionals who don't stick by their word.
I am bummed out I have to deal with this company if in the event this transmission needs warranty replacement/repairs.
It's worth shopping elsewhere if customer service and someone's word to you is important.
I purchased a 46re heavy duty transmission from them for my 2000 dodge ram 1500. Its shift amazing and has the power to hold up to my lead foot. I will reccommend this company to anyone who needs transmission work done. Alot better than aamco. And Dan that works there is always ahead of schedule on getting ur transmission done
We buy all our reman transmissions from Transmission Exchange for our repair shop. 4 years and we've never had a problem. Great company, great staff. Highly recommend them! 3G's Automotive
I would recommend this repair facility to anyone that needs transmission repair work done. I had previously taken my 1969 Ford F250 into an AAMCO repair facility (181st and Division) to have my transmission gone through, inspected, repaired as needed, and resealed. I thought I had a full rebuild performed after paying $1500. LONG story short they only did a reseal and in the process, AAMCO left out a component and did not sheave the main shaft correctly thereby causing failure of my transmission after about 800 miles of use. AAMCO refused to take responsibility to repair, so I took it upon myself to pull the transmission from the truck and bring it to Transmission Exchange for a full rebuild. These guys do QUALITY work. I had my transmission back in 3 days, and it works amazing. They were even kind enough to put together a list of why my transmission failed, essentially giving me what I will need to pursue retribution from the AAMCO repair facility. The unfortunate part about the auto repair business is groups like the AAMCO I worked with give the industry a bad name. Thankfully business s like Transmission exchange are the kind that you would go back to over and over again due to their professional, quality, good customer service repairs. Thanks Transmission Exchange!!
Horrible i would rather trust a junkyard before getting another one "built" by these "mechanic's " i spent 1300$ to have one rebuilt not to mention the time and labor of removing it and installing not ones but 2 time because they cant get it right or they are in a hurry or whatever i would call them and try to work it out but its almost pointless ill bite the bullet and take my buisness elsewhere and would not refer this company to anyone yea sure they are nice but so are used car salesman just my 2 cents but i trust them about as well as i trust the parts counter guy at o shotty's
Stay away! junk product, junk customer service, and even worse warranty!
First time around didn t have correct mounting hardware, second time it didn t even work, legit zero miles on it, sent back, built a new one, reinstalled again! Then got hosed another $500 on labor via crappy warranty that covered less than half the cost of labor to swap out the broken unit.
Vehicle was down months.....
Terrible turn around time, very unorganized.....
Top it off went with the heavy duty unit and at the end of the day the shop was not impressed at all with the quality
Look else where or have yours rebuilt!
I consider myself completely wasted well over 3 grand
WARNING - FALSE REVIEWS! there is someone selling transmissions on Craig's List using the transmission exchange name. This person rips off people badly!! TRANSMISSION EXCHANGE CO. does not sell on Craig's List. If you are not sure check the website or Google listing for the correct phone number and email! BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS
I do not recommend this company! 1st transmission slipped badly in reverse. 2nd transmission slips in overdrive. There credit for removal of the faulty product falls hundreds of dollars short of the actual costs. They claim to test all their transmissions and offer a great product however this is not the case. Their product is substandard, their warranty & service are very poor! They do not take care of the customer....
Transmission Exchange has been awesome to work with and have also been a great source for parts as well as knowledge. Danny and Scott will help you find whatever kit, converter or part you may need for your transmission!
Friendly staff answered all my questions. I was looking for a bearing for my 99 Ranger 5 speed transmission. No one else in town (Portland) had it in stock. These guys had it on the shelf. In and out in less than 5 minutes. They sell parts, whole transmissions, and service manuals. The only hard part is getting there if you don't like driving in the city.
Transmission Exchange Co did an outstanding job on a difficult to build and find BMW transmission. It works well in a track application which is perhaps the most harsh environment for a transmission at a fraction of the cost of a race built one. They were timely and customer oriented, I appreciate them!
