It's a nice place with great access to the beach. The staff were great and very friendly. Loved getting on the tennis court each morning. Lots of events planned during the day but definitely geared more towards families with young children.

Great place to stay. We went for new years. Tampa area was packed due to bowl games. Still had fun. Lots to do at resort. Kid friendly and great food on sight and in walking distance. Not a bad drive to bush gardens or other destinations.

Resort is okay, rooms are dated, fridge is old and doesn't seal closed. Elevators in the Breckenridge building need to be replaced and expanded. There are 3 tiny elevators for 7 floors and one of which is out of service and another just went out of service at the beginning of our stay, what a pain. Oh and there are no stairs that you could use instead. Restaurants are really great, this might be the hotel's only saving grace.

A conveniently located resort on a nice beach with fun amnetities for families. Guest services was courteous, though there was no exanation offered for why I had to move rooms after my first night. Pools are smallish but plentiful.

Nice place hotel service was exceptional. Only issues were very slow bar and lunch service at the Tiki hut and no service offer at all at Rum Fish we left after waiting 20 minutes at an outside table right next to the bar and only 1 elevator in the main hotel so at times it was a long wait. We can not say enough about how great all the other services and staff we're in all other area of the resort.

The Beach is absolutely beautiful. The hotel is just sub par. It was once the Jewel of St Pete Beach, but the staff sure don't take care of it. Most of the people don't have any idea of service. Stay away from the Beef O Brady's Restaurant. The slowest service in all of Florida. I will definitely will come back to the beach, but will stay somewhere else.

Great amenities, nice beach, clean rooms. Only complaint, the washers and dryers don't work. Had to travel off site to clean clothes. Only applicable of you're staying long enough to go through a suitcase of clothes.

Negatives: To be fair, I think we came at a bad time of year - mid-January. The place was fairly empty, but that was not a plus. Lots of things were unused, unstaffed, and felt deserted. For example, we were really looking forward to using their kid-watching service, KONK - basically you can drop off your kid for an hour or two to do arts & crafts with a staff member, and there were also "camps" for evenings. We chose this resort mostly because of this program, but we never wound up being able to use it - not once. I went to the KONK building three times during its listed open hours and there was never anyone there. Plus the camps, which you had to register for, vs. the drop-in program, vs. the different activities for different ages, was a little confusing. Actually, there were generally just so many options and areas and paths and activities that we felt overwhelmed and lost - kind of like if you arrived at Disney World with absolutely no idea of its scope or options and then realized you should have spent a month planning your trip. I guess this is partly our fault for not researching the place more fully beforehand, but honestly so many things were closed or understaffed or hard to find it would have been pretty useless anyway. It would be much more useful for the hotel to post a list of activities offered each day for each "area" - like a schedule of events on a cruise ship - and the areas sure could have been better labeled and signed. We got lost a lot. (Also, if you go, know that the RumFish Bay Resort is NOT right next door as most of their ads imply. There's another totally separate giant complex between them. You can get there in the beach side or the street side but there is no path connecting the two. This was confusing.) The rooms were ok, a little smaller and a little dirtier than average in my opinion (i.e. our sink drain was broken, a tile was cracked, etc), and probably the worst moment of the trip was when I stepped on a cockroach in my bare feet while walking into our bathroom, but hey, it's Florida, there's wildlife. Changing spaces by pools were likewise fairly gross, but they always are.

The pros: it was beautiful. Palm trees, blue sky, cabanas, beautiful pools including hot tubs and wading pools for kids, swans and ducks to feed, koi pond, paddle boats, clean beach, nice restaurants, a place in the lobby that sold really good chocolate muffins. There was also a little shower to wash off your feet when you came off the beach, which is KEY. The ocean water was not the same lovely clear blue-green it is in Sarasota but who cares, there were shells and low waves. Cabanas took up most of the usual sand-castle-building space though, no stretches of empty beach. I saw nobody swimming in the sea but many in pools. The coolest thing we did by far was the s'mores bonfire at RumFish though it took a long time to find it. The staff were all really nice and very helpful.

Obviously I am not an expert on this type of resort and have no idea how it compares with others of the "everything you need is right here!" type, but I felt that this one was average at best and a little too complex for me. (Maybe I should have expected that, considering it's actually CALLED a "complex"...) I'm sure there are many people who would enjoy it very much, but it wasn't my style. I don't like putting so much of my vacation enjoyment potential in someone else's hands, especially when there aren't enough hands. I prefer to AirBnB and explore a real place in my own way. But to each his own.

To sum up: Palm trees! Sunshine! Bonfires! Really good muffins! But: Understaffing! Confusion! Cockroaches! Complexity! C+/B-.

Staff was very friendly and nice, room clean. However, they claimed room had recently been renovated, and the t.v. is old, and the patio doors and blinds were all broken and old looking, the jacuzzi was missing tiles, amd more. No way this room was renovated.
Parking is a nightmare too.

Well let me start off by saying if its you and your significant other choose a cheaper place and save some money unless you got it like that. The rooms were very very small, not updated at all besides the door locks. So the reason it got 3 stars was because the amenities were what made it worth it and why i say its more of a full family place to stay for the price. We ended up leaving the last night and moved next door to save 160 and still had an ocean view. The rooms actually get cold too another reason for the 3 stars. The balcony we had was incredibly Itty bitty too

2 stars for location is all. The resort is great for location and nice beach access. HOWEVER, room was absolutely disgusting, dirty and the website pictures are not at all accurate. Your feet were black after walking on the room floor even after they "cleaned". Also, shower had no water pressure, bed springs were broken or something. Gus, the manager wouldn't listen to our room complaints when brought to his attention.

It is just that, a lovely place to stay even for one night. You do not even have to leave the hotel for a wonderful dining experience. The three pools and walking distance to the beach is the icing on the cake.

Enjoyed the resort. Check-in was not as seamless as expected given how far in advance we booked, and got a bit of misinformation, but after that initial hiccup, the property was very nice, lots of activities, lovely rooms, and of course, gorgeous beaches.

Lots of fun for families! Cozy rooms and beautiful beach! Lots of places to eat and a Dunkin right down the road. Fire pits at night bring everyone together and the paddleboats are so much fun. Great place to take the whole family. Suites can easily fit six with the two queen beds and pull out couch.

The buffet is among best local u have seen, but a sour taste lingers after restaurant tacked an unannounced service charge into bill. Definitely not a winning ploy or at all customer friendly. A big turn off. Suggested more clarity to management, but simply got blown off.

I stayed off site 15 minutes away! Not on the beach, and not being able to experience what all your company has to offer. We didn't even have queen sized beds at our off site hotel.. which made sleeping arrangements very uncomfortable with two adults and two teenagers! We told this to your employees at the start of our sit down meeting. No further discussions took place to make our accommodation more toward your "vacation experiences." After that, we had absolutely no desire to spend our money in your investment. My suggestion to you, if you do not have room for potential buyers to stay on your resort, then block out the dates!

Overall a great place. The rooms a re a little dated, but we were quite comfortable and they were quite clean. Beds are very soft (too soft?) Kitchenette is a nice addition. Everything on premises is expensive, but it's a resort and that's kind of expected. The balcony is a great addition as are the cabanas, patle boats and other "included" amenities. The standard 2-bed rooms are a bit small but you spend most of your time outside anyway.

Very beautiful resort, every employee has been very helpful . There are many fun things to do, from swimming and playing on the beach, the pools, paddle boats in a canal be between buildings, wave ruuners, riding on banana boats, kayaks and parasailing.

It's ok, but be forewarned if you go in the summer you aren't likely to see the floating water park they use to lure you into coming. They can't put it up if there is more than a ripple in the water. I asked an employee about it and he said the best time to come is November. So when you look for replacement activities it's $$$$$. If the water park is your main draw, then I suggest finding somewhere else that is a closer drive. I wish I had.

My daughters & I stayed at Island Grande for 10 da...

My daughters & I stayed at Island Grande for 10 days while we moved my youngest daughter into her dorm room at Eckerd. We arrived very late, 1am, and when we first got to our room I was so disappointed. I had expected something bright & beautiful like the photos, but it felt more like a nice Motel 6. We were told no room service (why not??? food can be ordered by phone and left at our door with NO interaction), and no cleaning or towel service unless we called to request it. They will clean your room for you every 4 days upon request. There were no vending machines on the property, and no food anywhere at that time of night. I was prepared to give a 2 star review right then and leave it at that. But I decided to wait and see how the rest of our stay went, and I am so glad that I did.

Day 1, opened up the curtains and the glass sliding door and from our 2nd floor balcony we had an amazing view of the beach and the little canal that runs through the resort was just below our balcony. Once flooded with sunlight, the room was a lot more appealing. The bedroom still a little cavernous feeling but comfortable & clean. Neither TV worked properly but when we called maintenance they took care of it promptly so it was no problem. Several restaurants at the hotel, the Flying Bridge serves until 10pm and the food is pretty good, and Salty's beach bar has some yummy options and kitchen closes at 8pm (live music every night 6-9pm!!!). Reserving a beach front cabana is super easy, just check with the cabana hut and let them know which number you'd like for the day and they'll put your name on it for $15. Or take a 2nd or 3rd row cabana for free. The lobby bar serves Starbucks and bar drinks, but they will sporadically close if they aren't busy, so you can't count on them being open. The hotel is obviously under staffed which is expected when they are limited to half capacity. They do a good job at keeping up and you only really notice it when they shut down something early due to little business. The pools are open and great! A little packed but not so much so that you can't find a lounger.

Overall our stay was good. Once we got our bearings, the hotel was probably the best option on St. Pete Beach for us and considering the current situation, they are doing their best to minimize the inconvenience to the guests. The staff is very friendly and helpful (save 1 mean and rude blonde Russian sounding front desk clerk whose name I did not get). They did clean our room on day 4 and left us with a great supply of clean towels.

My recommendations: Spend the money for the Gulf front room with balcony and kitchenette! Then go to Publix and pick up some fruit, cheese, nuts, wine, orange juice, champagne, drink mixers, sodas, bottled water and a blender ($25). Then head over to the liquor store and pick up whatever your heart desires. Mixed drinks are very expensive at the resort!! I paid $22 for one large frozen drink (it was really 2 drinks in 1)... prepare to pay $11 for a regular sized mixed drink. Food is also pricey as you would expect. Eat & drink at the resort some, but you'll save a ton by having your own food and drinks in the room. Also take an insulated bag to take out to the cabana to keep food & drink cold. Take a walk on the beach at sunset every evening while you can, it's incredibly gorgeous and it's good for the soul. Make a point to hang out at Salty's for the live music and relax on the sofas or in one of the Hershey's Kiss looking cabanas, and order a birthday cake shot, it's awesome! Hit up Skidders for breakfast one morning, you will not regret it and you can walk there from the hotel. Freaky Tiki Surf Shack is a cute store in walking distance. Make your way over to St. Pete Pier one evening for dinner. Most of all... try to plan enough time there to really enjoy your stay. There is too much to do and see for just a long weekend.

I haven t even been here 24 hours yet, and the entire experience has been awful since we pulled up. If you are a bluegreen owner, you must first go across the street to get a pass across the street before getting on property. We brought groceries, and our groceries and luggage had to be delivered by the bell hop. We could not take it to our room ourselves. So it sat in the 95 degree weather for a good 15-20 minutes before they brought it to our room. The room is very old and dated. Humid rooms as the hallways are outside. No toilet paper in our room, no paper towels, no coffee pot like you normally get in the bluegreen properties. If you re a bluegreen owner, there s only double beds available. They do not have rooms with kings or queens. ATM ate our debit card. The restaurant on property won t answer the phone to take our reservation. Concierge said the Deli is supposed to be where we sign up for the bar crawl...which is odd, but when we went there, they had no idea how to do it. Elevator was leaking on our heads. They don t serve coffee anywhere on property until 6:30am!! The list goes on. I wish we could leave and go somewhere else, but we are stuck here for another couple days. We re very disappointed and will never come back here.
