We're from Canada and were so excited to book a trip to TradeWinds, the website looks great and the service over the phone was excellent. What a HUGE disappointment to learn upon arrival that we were booked into the Guy Harvey (I think now RumFish) resort. The hotel is under construction, with Jack Hammers making a racket, the elevators are covered in cardboard and wood for construction, the public washrooms were filthy and falling apart, and the small pool was packed with families trying to make the best of it. The front desk refunded our money, but refused to let us speak to the manager. We called customer service but they never called us back. We had to find another place to stay... so disappointing!!
Bathroom was deplorable. Also ran out of hot water before I got my hair rinsed. No room to get in on one side of the bed. Lady with Bluegreen sales dept there was VERY sarcastic and we caught her in lies to us also.
The best resort by far!!! My family and I come every year there s so many activities for children and adults to enjoy all day everyday. Many food places on site so you don t have to go anywhere. Friendly amazing staff that has always gone above their needs for us. Movie swim nights aren t the best even though you can never hear the movie over loud swimming children. I always recommend this place to all friends!
Great place! We had a wonderful rest. The beach is 30 seconds, a gorgeous view, the rooms are clean and tidy. The beach is clean!
Very good hotel !! Book by Airbnb much cheaper than on the page !!
This is an amazing resort. When you are here everything you need is right on site.
I had a bad experience. My family came off the beach to eat at their restaurant. The sign indicated that it was not necessary to be staying. Guest were welcome. While waiting for our food I let the kids get into the pool. We did not realize at the time you needed a wrist band. The security came and made loud racist comment "You are not allowed at the Trade Winds Resort" just because the kids did not have a wrist band on. They kept singing that for guest to hear. I thought they were drunk or something and demanded for us to leave the property. We waited for our food and was escorted by the police off the property. The next day I spoke to management and he was not aware that they had such a policy and apologized for the staff behavior. Honestly, being African American, I will never stay or go anywhere near that place.
Very friendly place. Beautiful and lots of fun! I come here every summer for about a week, wouldn't go anywhere else .
Great customer service and great views! We will definitely be back soon
Manager very rude and refused a discount even though my elderly parents have spent thousand of dollars at this resort over $50. Stay away worst manager we ever dealt with. He should be fired
Beautiful resort! So much stuff to do.. clan and exceptional establishment
Wonderful property...great staff and friendly environment!
Great place to stay. Tons of things to do during your stay without even leaving the resort.
I loved the place,it has a lot of activity to do , the place was so big I kept getting turned around and lost, lol
Enjoyed this place alot....paddleboats, cabanas, great food and beach.
Our room was FABULOUS, perfect for a family of 4. The cabanas were nice. We borrowed a beach wheelchair which was helpful .... But no seatbelt. Pricey .... But it's on the beach so what do you expect?
Great place for a beach weekend plenty for kids and adults to do
Spent the day at TradeWinds.. Enjoyed the beach pool and jet ski's. Had a Great Day. The staff was very helpful!
Great resort love the cabanas and all the activities. Really comfortable rooms and beds will give you an amazing night of sleep.
Attended a conference. Room was spotless and bed was very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and the sunsets are amazing. Plenty to do and see right at the resort, but close to lots of restaurants and other activities. I got lost a time or two since the resort is quite large, so maybe some better signage for us directionally challenged people would help.
The resort is on a beautiful beach and the grounds are very nice. It is a very nice place to stay but a word of caution is needed. They host a number of large conventions at the resort. Many of these conventions have huge numbers of people and the common areas such as the lobby and other parts of the resort can become overrun with people from the convention. I would make a point of asking before I booked if there will be any conventions during your stay, if so you might want to consider a smaller resort. Other than the issue with this being a convention hotel it is a very nice place to stay.
Parking charge - cash only, first hit going in the door.Parking is a 100% profit enterprise, they should be able to cover the 3% service fee for a credit card. Perhaps they are worried about a disgruntled guest disputing the charge?
Front desk staff was great but the real heros were the groundskeepers and maintenance. The layout can be very confusing but the staff went out of their way, one even walked me through a hidden hallway to shave minutes off my trek.
( Kudos to the Pizza Hut girl for saving me and giving me a map when I was thoroughly turned around)
Condition of the room was poor the box spring was stained with coffee, this was also splaterred on the wall, sheets had black spots, blankets had holes and black spots. The whole property needs an upgrade old and dated. Staff was nice, housekeeper unable to speak English could not convey our needs. Probably was a great place 20 years ago but needs to be invested in and brought up tobdate. Elevators extremely slow and hot! Very overpriced !!!
Great location and everything you would ever want out of a resort.
Awesome staff great room love this place and people!!!!
Not worth the price
Great location but alternative hotels nearby
Decent staff but not 5 star service
Save your money stay elsewhere and visit this area
Agree with this review below
It s just a hotel
Maybe like
Motel even
not resort at all!!!
The lights in the bathroom are fun and water leaks out of the shower into the doorway
I have been here atleast 3 times over the years and it never disappoints me.. one of the best hotels in st.pete beach.
I go here all the time. Staff are very nice. Beach is beautiful. Always enjoy the bar drinks. Like the selection of restaurants.
Very nice resort
Little pricey on food and alcohol
Lots of amenities
This is a great resort. However, I will not recommend it due to the time share calls I constantly receive. I stayed for the 4th of July and had a great time but the calls are annoying. I received them before our trip and I have told more than one of their agents I am not interested and they continue to call. This puts a huge black eye-on my experience with this resort. I will not stay here again and will warn anyone I know to stay away. Very disappointing.
Employees lies ,break rules, there are 740 employees but nothing runs and alone 10 are nice
Front desk staff are great, and it goes downhill from there. Rates are five star resort level when you get two star service. No lifeguards? Kids all over without supervision and no staff to be seen. Not worth the price charged.
Overpriced, they make you pay for parking (not included in room rate), shower head had green mold on it, and bathroom door was so off centered it wouldn't close. Could have stayed somewhere nicer and cheaper.
lots of pools and great staff. A little pricey but it was a good time. Restaurants are pricey and both elevators were out of service the morning we were leaving. Nice big beach and not too busy the days we were there. July 5th to 8th 2017
Awesome place with many choices of restaurants and pools
We love the TradeWinds! Our family always has such a great time and we come back every year! Thank you for the great time!
Family stayed here for a week. They seemed fairly happy with the service and resort. I would like to check it out more when it is cooler and less busy for a staycation.
Ugh. The people here were fun to talk to, but it was kinda boring.
Was not impressed with the service in fact found some of the staff in friendly like I was bugging them was very clean , an$ nice rooms ,not sure I would spend the money next time to stay here since there are a few others in area with same prices that are friendlier
I stayed here about a month ago. And it had pretty good food and pretty good pools. Now with that being said it was mainly outdoors. There were not much indoor areas aside from the rooms and the restraunts. Which only a couple of them were open. So it needed to had more indoor activity s. But also it does have a lot of very young kids there so it is not the best place for adults only getaway. So overall it was fun for a family getaway but it needed to have more indoor areas and maybe it could ve been a little bigger as well and i think also needed more chill areas. So I had an okay stay but I don t think I would come back.
Room was nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and professional. Beach was clean and pretty. Food and drinks were good.
Wonderful family-friendly place! Attentive staff and lots to do.
This place is huge! Great service, but there was construction in the rooms right above us when we stayed. Food prices in restaurants there are expensive.
Stay away from the time share they are a bunch of thieves in my opinion.
St. Pete Bikefest 2017 was a gaggle. $10 for parking which they ran out of. NO DISABLED Parking At All. Charged $$ for Tickets to enter hotel. The same vendors you see at other bike events. All this was was a $$ maker for the Tradewinds. Go to DAYTONA Bike Week, Biketoberfest or Bikefest in Leesburg. SKIP this Tradewinds $$ pit!!! You've been warned!!
Room was not clean. Im a nurse so I sprayed and wiped room down. White marble dresser top that I thought was multi colored was actually just dirty. Staff then tells me a day later I should have called them then to get compensated. How about Corona!!
Location was good. The property needs to be updated across the board
Love this place... a little expensive
They need to upgrade thier rooms...
So much fun! Very clean, friendly staff, lots to do for the whole family!
Very nice, had a great room, looked out to the ocean. Nice people also
It's has a great location, great guest activties,. I highly recommend the paddle boats. Fair warning they are tedious to control.
Everything is here so you dont have to go anywhere.
Stopped in for a couple drinks with friends at RumFish Grill an to check out the Tanked Tank. Drinks were well made, ambiance was nice. We enjoued our visit and will be sure to stop by again and try the other available bars and restaurants
Excellent resort. Lots of amenities around. Room prices are a bit steep, but you get what you pay for.
Very nice hotel, resort fees are high in my opinion.
Fabulous ! Everyone was friendly and helpful! I will be back!!!
Lovely beach area ideal for an evening meal or drink
Wonderful! Joey was super polite and friendly. I give this young man 5 stars too.
I've attended numerous events here and they are always on the top of their game. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is very welcoming and right there to open the or help you in any way you need. I highly recommend Trade Winds for your event, vacation or just a weekend getaway.
We actually stayed at the Guy Harvey Outpost which gives access to the amenities at the Tradewinds. We were looking to take advantage of the multiple pools there for a change of scenery but it was so crowded you could barely move.
Stayed here last week. Had the cheapest room they offered. We had no view, but it was not a big deal since we didn't spend much time in the room. The room was clean and it had a nice king bed and in general was better than most hotel beds. The bathroom was small and has a low ceiling, but the shower was a decent size. The resort is very clean and well maintained. I always saw employees cleaning things all over the place. For the most part, the resort is easy to navigate. They had a convention going on for two days and they were using one of the banquet halls. That forced us to take a detour to our building, but they had employees directing us where to go. We ate at most of the restaurants on site and they were good. We especially loved Saltys Tiki Bar! They had live music and it was a great atmosphere. Blackbeards Bar had karaoke on Monday night, so that was entertaining. The beach was nice and clean. Plenty of cabanas available without the need of reserving one. We even had family come visit and after talking with one of the employees, he hooked us up with another cabana without charging us. This resort is also kid friendly as they had numerous places and activities for kids to participate in. Didn't spend any time at the pool, but they did say they are heated and look cleaned for the most part. As for the other reviews saying they had stuff stolen and what not, they offer free digital safes in the room. You make the combination upon locking the safe. Common sense tells you to use it if it is available. Check in process was easy as well. Took less than 5 minutes for it all. Same for check out process. My only complaint was prices for drinks (alcoholic) and food were a little pricy and seemed a little inflated, but it's vacation. So just enjoy it! I would recommend this resort for a couple or even a family and I would stay here again.
I stayed at the Trade winds last weekend and have mixed emotions about the stay that I wanted to share. If you aren t coming here with kids than this place is not for you. It s very crowded and everything is over priced. The rooms are outdated and the price is too high. If you are coming with kids than you are getting a better bang for your buck. The main pool is nicely sectioned off to keep an eye on your kids and there is a pool boy during the day to play games with everyone swimming. On the beach is a huge water slide that is completmetry and you can also rent cabanas that are included with the room. There are a couple restaurants on the property and about 5 bars. Ask for a passport and if you get an alcoholic drink at each bar and a food item at at least one you get a free t shirt!
