It was our first time here. Our waiter Phil was amazing! Although there brunch menu doesn t have a lot of options, you can order from the regular menu. The sangrias are good as well! If you want a great view of chapel hill, their heated balcony is the place to be.

Date night or family lunch this place is simply wonderful. The views are just great!

Everything on the menu is really good even my kids give this place the thumbs up.

I had the chopped Cajun salad. Very good. Hubby had jambalaya. Not New Orleans quality jambalaya. But the staff is friendly. We both really enjoyed our beers. Both the lighter choices. A bit on the loud side. But it's a sports bar, so...

While visiting my sister at college, she recommended this Chapel Hill staple and I agree it should be checked out by visitors. Beer flights featuring on-site brewed beers, great appetizers and unique and tasty entrees.

Beautiful location and great service. We loved the ambiance. Staff was very friendly and helpful, food was good and plentiful, we would highly recommend this place for medium to large size parties.

The handful of times I have been here the service was ok, the food was ok. I think people go here bc of the reputations in the community. Nothing to write about would not recommend this place for the food or drinks. If anything it s over priced.

Anybody eat there Friday, Feb 26, 2016 and start getting sick the evening of Feb 27th? Both me and my daughter had the Goat Cheese Salad with Chicken at lunch and we both got sick at the same time late Saturday evening.

What a nice experience we had at Topo last night. We haven't gone out to a restaurant in months! Topo was comfortable in every way; seating, social distancing, food, drink and affordable pricing. The perfect combination for our anxious times.

Little tough to figure out how to get up here, but it is so worth it. The braised beef was incredible, and the southern saison is honestly one of the best beers I've ever had. Atmosphere is great, bartenders and staff are super friendly. If this is what the rest of chapel Hill is like, I'll certainly be back!

Great atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and the service quick. The food was very good overall, but a couple of dishes were slightly bland. The beer we chose had full taste. Great view of Franklin Street.

I got the cajun chicken sandwich with fries and it was good but nothing amazing. We sat out on the patio, which gave us a decent view of the major street in downtown Chapel Hill. We went there in the afternoon on Thursday and it was extremely crowded, so I assume this place can get pretty packed. They do take reservations but not for the patio.

We had a large group of 15 on football game day. We got there early enough to enjoy the patio. Our server, Matt, was really friendly and attentive. He was even able to split our checks although it was crazy crowded by the time we left. The food was great, too! Highly recommend.

Been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid and I've never been let down. Sitting outside in the evening watching the sunset is a great way to enjoy dinner. The portions on the food are perfect and the prices are just right.

Also, the Franklin Street nachos are awesome.

I've been to TOPO (Top of the Hill) three times now. The beer has always been great. I'm partial to wheat beers and their blueberry (summer stock) and cranberry (winter/fall) are both fantastic. The grit cakes with mushrooms is awesome. However, everything else I've had there has been mediocre at best. I got 3 sides last night when I went-- mac-n-cheese, creamed spinach, and collards-- and all 3 were terrible. The mac-n-cheese was missing CHEESE. The creamed spinach had zero flavor and was in what looked and tasted like 2 percent milk (NOT creamy at all). And the collards were passable, but could use some onions or bacon. I was super disappointed and left most of the meal. The servers are mainly young people (understandably) but this means that service is unpredictable. It was good last night, but terrible the last time I went. I know this place is iconic for UNC/Chapel Hill, and that most people go for the beer (thank goodness). But it's too bad their food is so bad. I would like to take out-of-town guests to the place but don't want visitors to think this is typical of Chapel Hill offerings. It's definitely not.

Really good beer they brew on-site with a large dining room and bar. There is also an outdoor seating area that they close in the winter for additional seating. Solid food also with great views of Franklin St. Good spot to stop before sporting events at UNC and asks convenient of touring the campus. Part of the UNC experience!

The TOPO specialty is something that lets you forget about all your problems and enjoys it like a child, licking your plate.

Yes, an iconic place with good beer, but food is mediocre at best and overpriced. Sent back nachos that were so hard from being over-microwaved that you could break a tooth. Other dishes were pretty lame. Service was just OK. Go here for a beer but forget the food.

The best part of our experience was our server, Annie. She was very attentive. I never had to ask for anything like bread, refills, etc. I wasn't impressed with the menu. The names for the dishes didn't match the description. The prices were higher than I thought should be for casual dining. I was satisfied with my food but my wife had to eat something when we got home. That is never a good thing.

The atmosphere can't be beaten, especially outside, and the quality of the food and drinks was amazing -- though I will say that the Arizona Chicken was kind of bland, like cream of chicken soup with a lot of pasta... service was slack this time, but I'll give it another shot.

The bathrooms were top notch. Only complaint is the soap is too far from the sinks and the troughs have no privacy for my ding dong. No paper towels available.

Topo is a place with 3 faces; restaurant, club, and Back Bar. I will need to try the restaurant and adjust review but for the other two, please continue... The beer here is really bad and unfortunately they only have their brews on tap. The blueberry beer is a novelty with the actually blueberries. That being said the atmosphere is still unique and worth the visit. Back bar is chill with an assortment of bar games. The upstairs area has a really nice outdoor deck with a view of Franklin Street.

I absolutely love the location and atmosphere of Top of the Hill but the food has never amazed me. If you are looking to get a view of Chapel Hill, Franklin Street and UNC this is the place to be. If you are looking for the best lunch meal in Chapel Hill you might want to consider other options. I have no eaten dinner there a few times and the dinner menu is significantly better.

That being said, this is also one of the best night time atmospheres in Chapel Hill. On a busy Thursday or Saturday night the line is often backed up to Franklin Street, meaning there are about 100 people waiting to get in. There are other options with shorter lines but Topo is often the place to be in Chapel Hill.

Delicious cocktails and AMAZING food (esp. wild mushroom grit cakes ) ! Staff was very attentive and pleasant, atmosphere was fun and relaxed. This was our first visit from Wake Forest, and I plan on returning!

This place is amazing. Great atmosphere and friendly customer service. We sat on the balcony which was warm and cozy being as though it was cold outside. Everyone is professional and well mannered. The food was delicious. The banana fosters French toast was spectacular and the cheesecake was delicious too. I would definitely recommend to everyone.

A Chapel Hill staple. Good bar food and fun drinks (Kansas City Ice Waters & Klondikes!). Probably the most popular spot in town to watch a football game (other than Kenan Stadium of course!).

People of Color Please Avoid this establishment- you deserve to feel welcome and you won't get that here. My wife and I went here for drinks one night. It was a slow night. We were directed outside and were told to seat ourselves. We waited over 30 minutes with several wait staff walking by us with a mostly empty restaurant without acknowledging us. Those around us were promptly served at nearby tables. We happened to be the only interracial couple there and the only table with a person of color. There are certain situations that can be written off as coincidence but this is definitely not one of them. I don't feel a non-inclusive establishment such as this deserves to be supported. The wait staff saw us leaving and did not make any attempt to rectify the situation. Would never set foot in this establishment again. These are the 'iconic' places that don't deserve our business.

My son graduates from UNCCH on Mother's Day, 5/14/2017. I made reservations for 8 about 2 months prior. When I called this week to confirm; they had no reservation from me. Transferred me to the Manager, who then put me on hold for 15 minutes. (I made this call on Monday @ 2pm) and they had my phone number to call me back. I couldn't wait another minute on hold, so I had to hang up. Since I didn't hear anything, I called back today and was told by the hostess that "they typically call back to confirm reservations and get a Credit Card number for insurance." She apologized no phone call was made. So no reservations! Fortunatley, I had called two restaurants a couple of months ago to reserve in the case something like this happened. I had a feeling TOTH would lose something in the cracks. No worries, we will be going to a nice French restaurant instead. Thanks TOTH.

The food was good but our waitress never came back to see if we needed more drinks after the first round until we were done eating. I'm normally a 20-30% tipper but last night I didn't leave anything. She went to other tables around us multiple times but completely overlooked us.

Boom, boom, boom, boom! Just not my scene, loud dj music thumping constantly. Seemed like a lot of pathetic middle aged men trying to show 22 year old girls they can still get down. The BBQ Tater Tots with pulled pork and cheese were very large. However it's definitely not smoked pork, the pork had zero flavor.

This iconic location is a definite must to visit if you are in the Chapel Hill area. I've went to school in the area for a combined 7 years, and this restaurant is always a good spot. If you have the chance to get out on the rooftop area overlooking the main drag, it has some nice sunsets. But it is usually crowded so off times work best for that. Otherwise, nice selection of micro brews on tap every time, including a blueberry ale. Yum!

Incredible restaurant, brewery, and distillery! Satisfied with the food, impressed the beer, and blown away with the house-distilled whiskey. The service was courteous and willing to change orders for your preference.

We went here to watch a basketball game with little expectations.. We were pleasantly surprised. The avocado flat bread was amazing, the staff were nice, the ambiance was unique and fun. Definitely check it out if you're around. We could not get the lunch/dinner as we were off normal hours but I can imagine the food is great. The bear is brewed there and they have a great collection.
