We made the mistake of going before it was too dark so we saw how cavernous and dingy the pub is. Our waitress was busy and to-the-point. Maybe she was new? We ordered buffalo nachos to share, but they were so smothered in buffalo sauce (I thought for some reason there'd be buffalo chicken... must read the fine print next time) that we were unable to eat the top layer. Drinks were good. The Caesar was actually spicy! We walked by later in the evening (after 10:00 on a Saturday) and despite the live music, the place was dead. Sad... I'd heard good things about the place.

I ve been here numerous times, and the service is good only 20% of the time. The rest of it is slow and inconsiderate. The servers seem to do much of nothing inside while you wait for them to check on you for 30 minutes so you can order food.

This place gets enough business through tourists but if you want to attract local regulars I would suggest training your wait staff and improving work ethic a level above bored and untrained.

I like the Tir nan og as an afternoon visit, it's usually quiet and it's a nice sit down place for a few beers at have a nice chat with a friend or loved one. I've also been here later on in the evenings and karaoke evenings are quite entertaining as well!!

Their Shepherds Pie is really a Cottage Pie since it's made with ground beef instead of lamb. It was just alright, I've tasted better from Costco. It took awhile for the drink and food to be delivered, service was slow.

The chowder was also just alright, nothing bad nor outstanding, except that it was still serving food just before 22:00. Despite the others reviews, I found this place acceptable, but not outstanding. Outside seating, credit cards accepted.

Food was tasty enough (more or less). Our waiter was pleasant enough (more or less). However, there was a strange atmosphere, as though staff would generally prefer there were no customers. Also, one of the servers very combatively insisted my friend throw her outside coffee away, which isn't the end of the world, as I know outside food and drink isn't allowed, but this waiter wasn't even our server and he came directly at us in full offensive. There was reason to approach us so aggressively...my friend wasn't even drinking the coffee and was fine to toss it. Point being, this is not a place to go if you like to feel welcome.

*Edit* Since this incident, the manager has gotten in touch and apologized for the bad experience.I have been promised compensation for what happened. We appreciate the concern over over our experience and are thankful that we got a response. I am going to leave the original review below but I'll edit the stars to reflect my thoughts on the good customer service

I don't know how you can mess up fish and chips, but somehow they managed it. Greasy and soggy fish that tasted like aluminum foil and bland, unseasoned fries. Worst thing I've ever eaten at a restaurant. Not worth the price or even quarter the price. Cheesecake was decent though.

Black Rapids Gold provides awesome music. Tom Savage and Kevin Davidson are seasoned musicians, that play Celtic, blues, rock, east coast, folk, and a variety of other genres of music. Accompaniment on beat box was great too. They had the place hoppin, and people dancing. Hope they are invited back to play at the Tir Nan Og often.

My family group of eight had a lovely dinner celebrating my granddaughter's eleventh birthday . We were fortunate to have Brock as our server. Not only did he provide outstanding service to all of us, he especially treated my granddaughters and their friend like young adults periodically challenging them with interesting factoids while doing his best to get rid of the wasps. However, he went above and beyond the call of duty by running up to Brock Street parking lot looking for us with the birthday card that my granddaughter had left on the table. Yes he definitely earned his good tip and made our night out a pleasant and memorable experience. Thank you Brock and the staff of the Tir Nan Og.

If you are in K-town, you gotta check out this pub, which is much larger than I originally thought. Convenient locale puts you in walking distance to all the of the stuff that downtown Kingston has to offer - which is a lot. Staff are very cool and fun. And of course -cold beverages!

My wife, step son and I spent a wonderful time this past Friday night at the Tir Nan Or pub at the Prince George Hotel when visiting Kingston, the patio is in a prime location, the food was great (steak definetly better than most pubs) however what really made it a special time was the wonferful service by Brandon and staff , it really made our night... professional, courteous and attentive.. Keep up the good work guys! We'll be back soon!

I have not been in the Tir Nan Og in ages, and never for lunch. So when a buddy (himself in the restaurant business) suggested we meet here for lunch I was intrigued. The place was not at all busy, which I guess is the norm this time of year, but people are missing out on a great downtown restaurant. Our server Frankie was on top of her game, the menu was varied and interesting, and the ambience is great. Food arrived quickly and hot, and both of us really enjoyed our meals. I had the amazing lamb burger, and he had fish and chips. Definitely a winner!

Our office had a luncheon here recently. I am mobility impaired with a walker/rollator. The description of this place said Accessible .
It is NOT! Unless you believe that several sets of stairs or a steel ramp at an acute pitch so as to make it horrifically unsafe! could be labeled accessible. It had No sides or handrails on this short ramp going up 2 steps! So even more unsafe. I see a lawsuit in their future.
That being said, the staff were lovely and the food reasonably good bar food.

Monday August 1 2016. Very disappointing meal. Food was mediocre at best , not overly hot., menus were dusty and very "tired" looking. Flies around us the whole time we were there. Server was friendly and helpful. Will not be back.

Sitting in the restaurant right now. The green salad was completely spoiled. I requested the manager to use a more appropriate name on the menu like aged salad rather than fresh greens.
Wooow huge surprise, the waitress told me she is going to take the salad of the bill. Not sure why she expected they should be paid!
Avoid this garbage all together.

Burger was overcooked and burned as well. That was my last experience at the mercy of one of my travel mates, since I did not have my dinner. Cute thing, after I showed her the completely yellow leaf, she said it is a yellow lettuce!

Avoid this garbage location!!!!

An update, our stomachs are upset now.

Delicious food, cant go wrong with anything on the menu. True irish pub atmosphere with high end food. Have been going here for over a decade and have always been truly pleased with the quality of the food and service. Cant be beat!

Prepare to be dazzled. When you think of Irish pub fare, you best be thinkin' of Tir Nan Og. I ordered the Top Hat burger for lunch and it was freakin' top notch. Let me break this burger down for you. Imagine barreling down the highway at 180km/h with your eyes closed sitting in the passenger seat and you look over at the driver and it's none other than Gary Busey with the hungriest of looks in his eyes. Like, he needs a filling Irish meal kind of hungry. Back to the highway, that sense of urgency with a tinge of fear should be exactly how you feel right now about Tir Nan Og. Urgent in the sense that you NEED TO GET THERE ASAP for a good meal, and fear in the sense that you should be genuinely terrified about how PHENOMENAL this damn experience is going to be. Your life is about to change. You just don't know it yet.

Very tasty veggie burger with a hand made patty and crispy fried onions. The interior architecture of the pub is a little confusing though. The Ontario Street entrance says "Montes" and that they have live jazz music on Fridays, which they do, but only in that part of the pub. If you enter from Market Street and take a seat in that part, you won't hear or see anything of the live music.

We enjoyed the atmosphere as it is a semi authentic Celtic pub, we felt ignored by our waitress. We we're two Dad's accompanied by our two ten year old sons that had played in a hockey tournament that day. We had a reservation for 730, and ordered standard pub fair ( both kids had exactly the same entre...mild wings, with a side basket of fries to split), yet it took an hour a day a half for us to get our food. An hour and a half for wings n fries? I ordered fish n chips. Our kids having played two hockey games that day, were literally laying their heads down on the table. I feel as though my friend and are understanding, tolerant individuals so we made the best of an "awkward" would be the best word to describe our situation as possible, with some mild adult conversation. Finally after seeing a couple who had come in much later than we had, receive their meals before us, I decided to inquire about our order. Within 10 minutes we had our food. The food was ok, and the Management did compensate us for the "delay" but come on. An hour and a half for wings and fish n chips. I don't care how busy you are...that's just sloppy. You get a one star Tir nan og.
