Due to it being Margarita week we thought we would try this restaurant out. It had some really good reviews. We went there after work today. When we first got there it wasn't clear what we needed to do. Also our bartender was a bit snotty. Our bartender was a female. The only reason I bring this up is because later there was a male bartender there. The female bartender was not that friendly or helpful. I was willing to overlook this however my two companions were not. So after drinking the margaritas we ordered we left. We had planned to have dinner there. (I must say however that the margarita was very good that she made. I just didn't love demeanor.) So we ended up googling a nearby highly rated restaurant that was really cool and the food was really good there. And the people there were really great too. It's a shame that they lost our business; it really does matter how your employees act. I don't plan to give them a second try. The experience just really turn me off.

Don t know how we spent $130 for 2 restaurant week menus. The food was tasty but SO OVERPRICED. Small portions, yes it s tapas but then don t charge more for a small thin slice of fish and some vegetables. They even charged $4 for club soda which is usually free. The service was excellent and it was tasty but so overpriced.

I have only sat at the bar here. I love the bartenders. They are so nice. I should probably try other things, but I'm so stuck on the pork tacos and the suadero tacos. Makes my mouth water just thinking about them, which says alot since I'm from Texas and lived in LA for 4 years. It's hard to find good tacos in DC, but these will satisfy.

Best brunch in DC, hands down! While it is easy to compliment their food and drinks k selection because it is absolutely amazing, my favorite part is always the service. Every server engages in conversation with you, laughs with you and ensure that your time there is memorable!

Tacos & small plate (all the food was pushed on one side) okay.... service horrible had to ask how long they've been in business, or either very short staffed? Bartender/Host/Waiter at least he was informative
Not used to management serving me.... opposed to a server or runner

5/5 for cocktails, 4/5 for food, 5/5 for service. Cocktails are always bomb. Some plates are killer, others are just alright. Their guac is great. Of all the tacos, I love the fish and brisket the most. The fried chicken tacos and the shrimp tacos weren't my favorite; I could barely taste the shrimp because the bacon and avocado were overpowering. Also, we dined in during COVID and I really appreciated how far apart the tables were. That made me feel much more comfortable eating inside Tico than eating at other restaurants with outdoor dining.

Went for brunch, just not worth it. Our server would try his best but they re just too busy, we couldn t order the full menu, even though it was all you can eat, because the food was not coming out fast enough and they decided we would get the menu family style . Not coming back. Some food was good but experience just really tainted it.

Pretty solid brunch - $40 for unlimited food and drinks. Unfortunately, the kitchen/service was a mess when we went. It took forever to get our food, they messed up our friends' vegetarian orders, we had to wait a while in between drink refills.

I enjoyed a nice happy hour here with a friend. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. The prices were good. The calamari was overcooked, but the mac and cheese was great. The decor feels a bit like a large chain restaurant. I would go back.

Short version: Experience/Service=excellent, Decor/ambiance=Excellent, Food/Drink=Superb.

We had lived here a 1 and 1/2 years before we tried it. I'm sorry we waited so long. From the moment we were greeted, the level of quality was clear. The host was super friendly and our reserved table was ready. Our large table ordered kind of family style, so we got to try many things; some were great, some were outstanding. Nothing bad period! I never had an empty glass the whole night, service was excellent. Love the sangria! Then the next morning I realized I had lost my keys. I called the restaurant and left a message, thinking I wouldn't hear back from them. They called back within 3 minutes, yes 3 minutes, and said they had my keys and were glad that they were able to get them back to the owner. Wow! Will definitely be going back here many times. Kudos to the staff and owners for such a well run establishment.

I've never liked scallops, still tried all of them whenever it's on the menu, but the scallop ceviche here was one of my favorite. Normally, you get a very metallic taste to the scallops that aren't fresh. However they're preparing it here, is fantastic. Either they're using some of the freshest scallops or their chef's just amazing at blending the tastes in with the light flavoring from the sauces and guacamole. Definitely worth coming here just for the scallop ceviche.

One-Time Place!

One-Time Place!

This was really awful for the price or anything else. Four of us went there. Two of us had hamburgers. I chose the hamburger because nothing else on the menu looked interesting and I wasn't into the small plates for higher prices concept. There was nothing interesting about the burger, oversalted bacon slapped on top of what tasted like processed American cheese with McDonald's secret sauce. I asked for red onion and lettuce and the waiter acted as if I asked for ketchup to put on a filet mignon. Anyway, the other two ordered the small plates. One dish was very hot and we had to scrape the sauce to the side in order to eat it. Basically very, very overpriced food at very high prices. Service was fair with a seemingly disinterested waiter. So many better places around 14th and U to choose from. But if you go anyway after reading this, remember I told you so!

Tico is in my neighborhood, and I decided to order take out to support local businesses during covid. Unfortunately, my order came with a missing item. Although delicious, my meal was incomplete. I shared the feedback and received a call the next day. I was shocked and slightly overwhelmed. I believe his name was David, who noticed my feedback and wanting to make it right. The sentiment and openness to provide great customer service is AWESOME and I received a complimentary meal. Thank you Tico! I ll be back :)

Tico has a great track record with me. I've always had a lovely time there whether if be happy hour, lunch, or brunch. Recently, I attended a private event and the staff were excellent. They were attentive and kind and the event went amazingly. Check them out!

I went here for unlimited food and beverage brunch on a Saturday. Great service, great food. Well proportioned so that you don't feel ridiculous ordering round after round of fun breakfast food. The churros and shishito peppers in particular were A+. Also, there was a super casual atmosphere. Great for groups, but also great for a solo excursion.

Great overall experience. Food was excellent and service was high quality. Only slight drawback from our meal were the drinks. I ordered a margarita and my girlfriend ordered a sangria and both our drinks were not worth the price we paid. However the food was the best tapas I've ever had with a wide variety of options. I will definitely be back soon.

Can't praise this place enough! Excellent food, great staff and wonderful atmosphere. We escpecially love going here for brunch and bring friends here anytime we have someone visiting from out of town. We recently went back for HH and brought our toddler along for a quick snack. The chef recognized us and brought our son out his favorite bowl of fruit. Now if that isn't service I don't know what is! Thank you Tico for always making us feel welcome every time we come (even with our toddler!)

I cannot recommend anyone visit this place on a weekend. Poor service and mediocre food. We paid $160 for three people for unlimited food and drink, and we got 3/4 drinks each and one order of food, only to be pushed out by the next customers. Unlimited doesn t mean as long as you want to pay attention to your customers. We won t ever come back, and as brunch enthusiasts we won t recommend this place to anyone else.

What a fun place. It is going to cost you, so be prepared. But if you ask me, worth it. Great service and good food and cocktails. I know that if I am in the area next time, will stop for more.
