Completely turned around our backyard. We went from an overrun, dead yard to a space that we could enjoy and host company. Russell listened to all my requirements and created a design that was simple, beautiful, and functional. Reasonable cost, excellent workmanship, and professional architectural design. Love love love their services and can't wait to complete the next stages of our landscaping with Thunderbird.

Adam, the owner of Thunderbird Design, came out himself to take a look at my yard. He was the only one of the 6 designers I "interviewed" who truly listened to my needs and who worked with me to come up with multiple possible solutions. I really grill anyone who comes to my home to do work because I want to make sure that it's not only high quality work that lasts, but that the people doing it have a high level of integrity and responsiveness. Adam blew me away in both regards: his work speaks for itself, and he was so patient with me. I would estimate that he spent 6-8 hours (including multiple visits to my home) looking at the yard, answering numerous annoying e-mails about everything under the sun I could think to ask him, and providing advice for everything from watering cycles to the best stain to use on a pergola. He also did so within hours of contacting him, rather than the days it takes most contractors. He is an absolute professional, and so is his crew. Not only did they come out a week earlier than they had scheduled, but they also got the work done faster--and this is excellent, high-quality work they did! I could not be happier with my choice, and I have already recommended Adam and Thunderbird to friends and neighbors. I would absolutely use him in the future for all of my landscaping needs!

Thunderbird Designs just completed a full yard xeriscape design and installation for the large yard at our residence. Their ambitious design and technical expertise were able to turn our landscape dreams into a reality. I really could not recommend them more.
We had a thoroughly positive experience through all stages of the process: from initial conceptualization to design, detailed estimates to transparent billing and administration, overhaul of original yard to meticulous installation of xeriscape (including plants, raised beds and drip irrigation system), and finally in ensuring all deliverables were completed within projected time and budget.
We did our homework too: we compiled a list of 15 xeriscape companies that operate in the Denver metro area, whittled it down to 4 companies for quotes, and had no difficulty in the end in opting for Thunderbird. While it was an expensive project to undertake, Thunderbird's pricing was the most competitive of the lot.
Finally, we send our great appreciation to Dustin for his design genius and fielding of our many questions, to Amber for her efficient work on the administrative side, to Adam for overseeing the management of the project, and to our very capable and extremely hard-working team of Santiago, Juan, Fernando, and Felipe (we marveled at their expertise, speed, and graciousness on a daily basis!). I would highly recommend Thunderbird Design for any of your home improvement projects. They installed a new paver patio for us in addition to removing our old deck and adding some landscaping. They were great at communicating along the way, stuck to the timeline and budget they had previously discussed with us and the crew worked really hard and kept things tidy as they went. On top of all of that their prices are really reasonable and allowed us to update our backyard without breaking the bank. We'll definitely be using them again for any future updates!
Great company! They took my vague ideas from our initial consultation and created a beautiful design that really highlighted the things I had asked for. Communication was fast and great. The working crew did a wonderful job, and really did things the right way. Work began when I was told, and was finished quite fast. I highly recommend Thunderbird!

I got 3 different quotes before choosing a landscaping company for a complete job that was soup to nuts on a residential home. Not only were they competitively priced, they were also the quickest to send a designer (dustin who was awesome) to my home, the quickest to send a quote that included a complete computer design, and they were able to start quickly.
Overall frustrating experience
We hired Thunderbird for a small backyard patio job. Rip out an old wood deck and install a flagstone patio. We had discussed having the crew replace an old wood arbor with a new metal arbor for a mature grape vine. We asked that this portion be added to the contract and were told they would take care of it and it was such a small thing that they didn't feel it necessary to add it to the contract.
The crew came, installed the new patio and did not install the new arbor. The portion of the new patio where the arbor would span is too wide to accommodate the arbor.
We have reached out to them to see about returning to fix this issue and were told that we would be put on the warranty schedule and have not heard from them since.
This was a small job that seemed pretty straightforward. The communication was great during the sales process but non-existent once the work started.
We would not recommend Thunderbird Landscaping.

I got quotes from several companies that do similar work (landscaping, fire pit, built in BBQ and bar, patio extension, fence) and found Thunderbird Design to be the most competitive. They were communicative and timely from the start and I always knew what the timeline looked like.
The quality of work is terrific and we're thrilled with the results. We'll be using them for our front yard soon.
I m really pleased with how our backyard project turned out! I couldn t have asked for better communication throughout the entire process! Dustin and Amber were great to work with!
We paid 10K for garden renovation. Thunderbird planted the smallest flowers you can buy and many didn't make it thru winter. My front walkway's plants all died except one. You'd expect that the front walk would be most important to Thunderbird's designers. It was ugly when they first did it, Dustin said wait a year for best results. It was still ugly a year later. So I had to replant myself with healthy plants. Looks great now. Next problem, in front I asked that some tulips be removed. Instead they chopped up the bulbs and now there are strange bits of tulips growing everywhere, no blooms though. The people were nice, but they cut corners and it had to be expensively corrected. Sprinkler work in front was not effective until I hired someone else to complete it. An entire area (10 X 10) lost all its plants. The sprinklers were never right and the plants were not healthy. There are parts of the yard that looks good, kinda bald, but the plants are beginning to spread. I have augmented with healthy plants that have helped. I would say 40% of the work was satisfactory.
Thunderbird was always on time, finished project as stated, and even started a few days early. The employees were experienced, knowledgeable and friendly. True professionals.
We had a new and existing patio installed with pavers and new irrigation installed by Thunderbird. The Crew was very polite and worked hard. The design and workmanship was great. Price was competitive with other companies however Dustin was outstanding and patient in answering all our questions up front through email and phone. Very responsive and would highly recommend.

Thunderbird Design sent a work crew who faithfully delivered every item promised on the contract. They worked for 5 days to excavate, install layers of base, fitted the big stones, and filled the joints with polymeric sand for a new patio in the previously derelict space of a courtyard. The new patio looks like it was part of original construction and perfectly complements our southwest style stucco house. The job was beautifully done! Kathryn Beffa

We had another company put in a covered deck 3 years ago. Fabulous!!!! They trashed our yard; not so great. After 3 years, we realized we weren't going to get this project done ourselves. Some good friends recommended Thunderbird Designs. The Barnhills said Thunderbird came on the days promised, did the work promised for the price specified.
We worked with Adam Porter. I liked the detailed bid, and the CAD rendering of our project. NICE. They built a retaining wall, modified our irrigation system, back-filled some dirt, and took out 5 tree stumps. Two months later (mid-April) they returned to put in the sod, and even threw-in some bush stump removal at no extra cost. Cool. One corner of our yard didn't turn-out as we had envisioned. No problem, they changed it when they returned for the sod installation. The process was so easy, makes me wish I would have done this project sooner.
2 small negatives: one guy on the first crew left some cigarette butts on my property. Grrr! And the fill dirt had some rocks/trash in it. But overall a very positive experience. I would recommend Thunderbird to a friend. In the future, if $$$ allows, I would have them work on the front yard.

I had a very positive experience working with them. First of all they responded to my email and then they actually showed up and presented a design and budget, which was more than I could say for other companies. The people were very friendly and responsive throughout the project. The project was completed on time (only 3 days for the entire front lawn) and it looks great. Importantly they were also very good about returning to take care of a few 'punch list' items. I would recommend them.
Thunderbird was hired to re-grade a portion of the side and back yard to address drainage issues. In addition to a trench drain, the scope of the project was to "grade side yard and back landscape beds for positive drainage away from the house and fence line."
This is NOT what happened and they actually managed to make the issue worse. Upon inspection of their work, albeit two weeks later, they got us on their "warranty schedule" and I've heard next to nothing since. I was told, "we're busy this time of year" or "sorry about the no call and no show" and that's the extent of their communication.
The project was started in early March; it's almost July and we're still trying to get some sort of resolution worked out. Unfortunately, calls and emails are ignored.
Thunderbird design did my back yard last summer and front yard this summer. My yard was an overgrown mess and Dustin & team turned it into a beautiful area. Dustin is very responsive and the crew does great work.

My yard went from a wasteland of dirt and weeds to a delightful little garden that I actually want to spend time in. I live in a townhome community and have a very tiny yard. I had some difficulty getting landscape companies who were actually interested in a job as small as mine. In the end, only 3 of about 6 that I contacted came to give me estimates. I was kept up to date with the scheduling by the office manager, Amber, who never failed to reply to my inquiries in a very timely manner. The job was started and completed exactly when I was told it would be (with some cooperation from the weather) and I could not be happier with the results. Thank you for my new yard!!
I put our landscaping project out to bid and although they were not the cheapest, they had the most professional bid. This was a big project and the crew showed up every day on time and saw it through to completion and I just stayed out of the way, no micromanaging. In the end, they delivered what they promised at the agreed upon price in a reasonable time period.
