This was strange. It's not scary like some people say, although it is jumpy. There's a line between the two. It's a good guide through history, although for those who don't like to interact in groups with random people (like me) it's a bit nerve wrecking. Regardless of that it's good, and I'd visit other Dungeons!

It was BRILLIANT experience, I and my two friends were well pleased with it. We liked the acting - all taking part were very convincing and being led into different compartmentalized events in bloody history. It was a fantastic piece of imagination by the team who worked on it. It has evolved for the better in an entertainment experience from our last trip a few years ago. It was still very good then I might add , but has got a lot better. The icing on the cake being the photos that we posed for at the entrance - that ended up as nice surprise souvenirs with a twist - that we purchased at the end in the wonderful gift shop. Thanks everybody you were geniuses.

We had a great time here, thoroughly enjoyed the frightening. The actors in this are great and if your worried about the health issues, bad back pregnancy, dodgy leg I wouldn't as it is pretty easy to deal with all the way round

Not a bad place to spend a couple of hours, you can get military discount which always help only downside is the toilets which are a bit of a trek and scared my daughter as they have the same atmosphere as the rest of the dungeon. But she is only 10.

They had difficulties due to multiple staff falling ill but was worth the hour wait. When it rained the staff did best to find us brollies and kept us informed of why it was taking a while and even offered refunds to those who could not wait

Brilliant and highly entertaining place to visit. Cleverly put together set of stories through the ages performed by actors. Some suprises to be had. Also there can be visitors dragged into the act also. Great attraction to visit for adults and brave kids. Possibly not for very young children as could be scary.

Absolutely awesome experience with my lad, but not for the feint hearted, all staff were amazing and the characters completely believable. Sound and light effects plus secret scares were brilliant. Loved it from start to finish

A really fun and gruesome visit, me and my other half laughed so much and at times our hearts were racing! The actors are brilliant and really brought the experience to life. The special effects were really good and lots of surprises keep you on your toes. A great way to learn about the history of york. Would definatley recommend it.

This amazing recreation of York's dark and interesting past is great for any family with kids over around 9. Actors put all their effort into dramatising, story telling and most importantly scaring you into understanding York's fantastic history. Unfortunately queueing times are often a problem if you plan on going any time between 10 and 3, unless you have booked the day before.

Had a blast at the dungeons. Very neat attraction. A must visit and experience place. Beware of the torture chamber... I had a meathook rammed up my backside and my manhood was chopped off inch by inch.

Fun guided tour through England's past. My 10 year old son loved it, although a little unsure before heading in.
Loses a star as a bit pricey but for your money you get around an hour's entertainment.

First time visiting absolutely loved it.well enacted they were superb.cheaper to buy tickets online.was dubious about going thoughts were a boring tour.got the opposite.there were screams.laughter & scary parts.but once uve been you know what happens so wouldn't go then for a few years.but I do give 5 stars deserves it.its a shame you can't take photos. but then you can buy them at the end but quite expensive.

Book this place in advance or be prepared for a long wait as I found out. But was worth the wait I can understand why people love this place it was pretty scary as the poor man in front seemed sick of me screaming. So wouldn't recommend to young children if scared of that sort of thing.

This was value for money and took around an hour to do. The staff were all excellent actors as they take you through a voyage of Vikings and Saxons through to Catholics and witchcraft. An excellent adventure for all ages.

Great place. The actors were great and it really helped the whole experience. The thing that ruined it for us was that two younger girls constantly interrupted or distracted the scenes. But bravo to the actors for carrying on regardless

Having been to the London dungeons, we felt this was very similar.

We were expecting something more Yorkshire / York orientated.

We also felt a lot of the actors where not "natural" and a little bit soulless. Maybe repeating the same voice and lines saps the life out of them.
