Fantastic place to stay. Very comfortable, warm and clean.
Great hotel, stayed here before but even better this time.
Service, room, food and location all excellent.
Lovely place! We had a pot of tea here in the conservatory which gave us a chance to look round the place and we are definitely going to book a future trip here
We stayed for two nights midweek at this lovely hotel. Despite being younger than the majority of the guest when we arrived we were made to feel perfectly welcome and at home. The room was lovely however it got slightly warm as we were on the top floor but this wasn't a problem when we worked out how to open the windows! The spa was lovely and well worth taking time out of sightseeing! Overall I would definitely return to this hotel and will be recommending the wordsworth to all my friends and family.
Rooms were great, staff was friendly. Would stay again.
Lovely room with nice view i wouldt pay extra for view i had a lovely view any way, pool was really nice breakfast was lovely good locaton nice places to walk and great pubs and food. I would recommend a long week stay cause so much to see and do if you like been out side.
We had a massage which was first class followed by afternoon tea which completed a pleasant afternoon. Can't comment on the rooms available but the ambulance of the hotel looks in need of updating. Having said that wasn't an unpleasant experience and staff where professional and friendly.
I thought with booking a 4 star hotel we were in for a nice time away, how wrong I was! the room was small, stuffy and not even clean! There was paint peeling in the bathroom and bits of wall actually falling off while I showered. The worst night I've ever had at a hotel and a massive waste of money
Good accommodation, food and service at a difficult time. The safety arrangements in place work and are necessary for everyone's benefit.
My wife and I have just enjoyed a 3 night stay and are likely to return.
Lovely hotel. Great food. Fantastic, helpful and attentive staff
Stayed there for wedding. Nice place, good food, comfortable rooms and public spaces. Booking in system needs some serious work!! We were told we had one room for one night then had to move out. Didn't even have booking at first. Final bill was wrong but soon corrected. Nice guy on reception.
Great location, friendly helpful staff and comfortable rooms. Excellent place for a small conference and good food.
Great place, fine dinning, delicious bistro food, friendly staff, outstanding manager (C t lin).
Excellent hotel, staff and food. Great location for walks based in the middle of Grassmere.
Absolutely amazing hotel and staff. Would recommend it to anyone, especially as a romantic getaway. Rated as a 4 star hotel, should be 5 star, without question.
Always excellent coffee in comfortable conservatory
Central location, grasmere gingerbread comfy rooms, helpful staff
Great rooms, got a free upgrade, lovely location. Can't complain.
Location paramount and the breakfast choices were plentiful. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Clean, quality bedding etc. We ate in the Doves Bistro and had a very nice meal.
The hotel is clean but for me what let the place down was the staff. Most of the english staff were rude and not helpful in anyway, if you call the hotel and speak to reception then you may have your call answered by a miserable lady and you will understand my comment. The foreign staff don't really speak English very well and its hard to order food correctly and at some points it feels like your in Eastern Europe!
With lots of hotels to choose from in the area I would personally go with a different option as the staff attitude has put me off a return visit.
Steve
Rooms have very poor views(rooftops+carpark). Bathroom not suited for shorter people as mirror/shower not usable (too high)
However, Excellent location. Lovely pool and sauna. Excellent lounge area. Could have included free tea/coffee in lobby/lounge as rooms without views.
Excellent hotel. The food is nice and not bad price. The staff are excellent very friendly and helpful.
Had a terrible stay at this hotel. Room was noisy, tiny and dated. Staff was not helpful. I don't recommend it.
Lovely hotel in the village of Grasmere with all the amazing scenery of the Lake District on your door step. The hotel could do with a bit of a refresh (slight water staining on the wall in bedroom) but cant mark it down for it, staff are all amazing and the pool/spa area really help to relax at the end of the day.
Lovely hotel situated in the heart of the lakes. Plenty of places to visit not far from there.
Had a meal here and it was absolutely amazing. Well worth a visit
I went to the hotel with my wife for a couples massage and afternoon tea. When greeted at the reception they did not recognise our booking. They did not provide directions to the pool and spa area. After the spa treatment and afternoon tea, the advertised price was not honoured even though we had provided details of the offer that is provided on their own website
went to the hotel today with some relatives from Cheshire,I recommended the afternoon tea as I said in this area they are outstanding,my daughter in law ordered one and what a disappointment the bread was stale and compared with others at that price it was very mediocre ,we had to go and ask for the pot of tea when we had finished,I might add this is very unusual for the Wordsworth, but felt it had to be mentioned .Thank you Muriel
Comfortable rooms friendly staff and excellent food.
Nice hotel. Went on a travel zoo. Staff friendly. Drinks expensive! Food OK but had much better
My advice... Don't ever accept room 20. It's adjacent to the lift and is badly affected by noise from the lift gear.... no fun a 9 mins past 6 on a Saturday morning! The room is also described as a courtyard room, the 'courtyard' is a first floor flat roof area of about 15ft square with artificial grass,a couple of scruffy tubs and a fire escape!
We asked to move rooms but were told the hotel was fully booked. The offer of some recompense or a sincere apology would have been appreciated but neither were forthcoming. Having said that the public areas of the hotel were good and the spa was nice.
We didn't eat in the main restaurant but did have a meal in the bistro which at best was average.
Oh and ladies, don't expect to be able to dry your hair within sight of a mirror, there is a dressing table with a light over it but no plug in the vicinity!!
Overall worthy of it's four star rating?... We have stayed in much better with lower star ratings, we wont be returning to this one!
We used the spar as none residents, all the useual things , on the side it was all glass looking over the garden's
We visited in August, & whist the rooms , the setting & service were good the menu was poor. The 'a la carte' was more of a poor table d'hote with only 1 meat, 1 fish & 1 vegetarian dish. There was also a specials & casual dining menu, the former only contained 1 dish & was often 'sold out' the latter a glorified fast food list. There were no cereals, fruit or yoghurt etc on the breakfast menu , we were later told that we should have asked for them, not the sign of a 4 star hotel
Excellent food, beautiful, clean room. Would have given 5 stars but the Spa facilities were limited.
still here having a great time, lovely room, amazing food, friendly staff, lots of car parking. will def be coming back.
Rooms were poor, ours was like a sauna, we had to keep our window open all the time even though it was below freezing outside and it was still unbearable. Blood stains on sheets, tried to charge for drinks we had paid for when we checked out. Food was so inconsistent really good then poor, breakfast was different every day even though we ordered the same each day. Staff were not very nice, looking down on us as if we should not have been there....appearances can be deceiving and they should not judge. Apparently American tourists who boast about their wealth/jobs were better than us. Asked to speak with the manager who wasn't available so said that I would like to speak to in the morning, but surprisingly there was still no manager available....seriously no managers on duty! Emailed when I got home but still waiting for a reply.....spineless and disrespectful. Thinking back every time we mentioned our room number the staff gave an intake of breath. Would definitely NOT recommend, tired hotel and just exploiting the fact that it is in Grasmere.
Friendly polite staff. Very clean, with excellent facilities.
Loved my night here .Definately on my to go again list.Evening meal was gorgeous .Swam in pool .Yes worth every penny .x
Lovely rooms, Very nice food. Excellent Covid policies to make you feel safe
Staff were very pleasant, food was superb, Hotel and amenities were clean and well kept and the area is beautiful. Only issue we had was that our room seemed overly warm and we had trouble trying to cool it down but aside from that, no complaints.
Beautiful hotel and excellent location , will go again
Nice comfortable hotel good pool and spa. Situated in grasmere with beautiful surroundings
If you want to feel that you are very special this is the place to go. Wonderful staff. Love this Hotel.
Loved it. Friendly staff
Good food and every comfort
Been before
Will go again
Disgusting service
Afternoon tea was half hour late. Cakes were wet on the bottom, bread was stale, overall disgusting. Staff couldn t be bothered with anything. Walked out without even using the spa. What a waste of money
This is a very special place from start to finish, hospitality wonderful, food fabulous, room beautiful. Truely relaxing pool area.
This hotel was a mixed bag. I went for my birthday weekend with my husband, dogs, aunty and uncle, cousin and his two girls. We had room 2, a ground floor with garden view and porch roof; for us this was perfect and the highlight of our stay because of the dogs and because it afforded us with cover from the rain to sit outside. There was a small bottle of wine and card for my birthday which was a nice touch. The room was nicely decorated, clean and small, it met our needs but the toilet door hit the toilet, I'm not sure how disabled guests would work that but for us it was fine. However for the price I wouldn't have been happy of we didn't have the dogs. The service was generally good but the food was often inedible. The night we arrived my husband sent back his food and wasn't offered an alternative. Breakfast twice was again inedible for him, barely cooked bacon and hard poached eggs. The second day we both sent our breakfast back as was cold, my second one was lovely but my husband's poached eggs were solid again and for him inedible. There are clearly issues with the food/kitchen which is such a shame, especially as I wanted the famous Thai afternoon tea (recommended by my uncle and hence the reason we went there) which they wouldn't do as they have a reduced menu and reduced clearly means reduced quality. Unfortunately the spa wasn't open but when I originally enquired in May I had hoped it would be by August, sadly not although other hotels had opened their pools etc. I asked if I could use the spa on another occasion without booking a room.and they said no. My family's food was also inedible but their rooms were bigger upstairs. We also had charges on my bill for things we didn't have like puddings and room service, so if you go double check! Overall the view and garden was the best bit, potential to be so much better - it really let itself down.
Had a lovely 3 night break in October.
The staff are excellent along with the food.
Would definitely love to make a return visit.
Only had afternoon tea here but it was first class, with the food being excellent and just the right side of fancy. Auric who looked after us was friendly and attentive without being overpowering. Definitely will do this again and maybe a stay later on.
Nice hotel in lovely village. Peace and tranquility, an oasis of calm. Food excellent, staff attentive.
Quick stop for some lovely food. Staff not at all snobby! :)
Staff really nice, food is lovely, the spa really good and the area the best in the lake district.
Unfortunately this place is distinctly mediocre and vastly overpriced. The staff are trying their best but are handcuffed by poor food and tired surroundings. There are way better options in Grasmere.
Very disappointed for the price. We had room 18, it was a classic room, very small and dated with obvious signs of wear and tare e.g. wallpaper peeling off walls, paint peeling in the bathroom, old tiles and fittings etc felt like a care home. Poor lighting, no magnifying mirror which is standard in a lot more basic places. Quilt not wide enough to hang over the sides of bed. Had to listen to an extractor fan all night. Poor insulation, can hear everything going on below, presume it's a kitchen area. Sauna was nice, pool and Jacuzzi area dated again, very strong chlorine smell. Areas were generally clean and easy to park round the back, good base and breakfast.
Dirty surroundings food was not fresh staff were curt never again
It's a big, beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms and two restaurants. It has many places in it where you can relax - it has even a pool and a sauna.
Lovely hotel with smartly dressed staff who were helpful, welcoming and eager to please. Great food with a good menu. Beautiful lounges with good bar and attentive bar staff. Swimming pool was the right temperature in a pleasant setting.
Fantastic gourmet menu. Comfortable room. Great spa.
Visited before covid. Bar meal surroundings and service excellent
Great place for walking, eating and relaxing. Wonderful gift for my birthday weekend and recommended highly.
Had a lovely room that opened straight onto the gardens. Delicious well presented food. Friendly staff.
Fantastic stay could not fault the staff or hotel itself we went for the dinner bed and breakfast with the 8 course taster menu and it was perfect and followed the next day by a perfect breakfast cooked fresh to order with a lot to choose from and the head waiter has to have a special mention but all in all a great stay would recommend and I will be back
The Wordsworth hotel was the most beautiful hotel with gorgeous views and the staff go above and beyond to help with whatever you need I will be telling everyone I know how amazing Wordsworth hotel is
The food was amazingly cooked and tasted beautiful
stayed there twice now and think its very good value for money. they upgraded us to one of the best rooms because it was our 30th wedding anniversary. We also eat at the wordsworth bistro when staying at another hotel in the village, one of the best burgers I have ever tasted.
Great hotel and friendly staff. Very comfortable and beautiful area in Grasmere.
Fabulous room, Cosy bar, open fire, excellent massage. Excellent food in restaurant (including vegan), perfect service. Lovely staff
Our family party of 12 stayed for two nights for dinner and breakfast. All the staff including reception and particular thanks to Millie and Vlad were super friendly and helpful to accomodate our family incl elderly dad and small children. Bistro food was lovely and affordable and breakfast was delicious. You won't need much lunch but lovely tea shops nearby. Lovely pool, sauna and jacuzzi and extremely clean and well serviced rooms. Highly recommended thank you so much.
Great room, lovely staff, best massage I've ever had, excellent location, fantastic breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
