This hotel was a mixed bag. I went for my birthday weekend with my husband, dogs, aunty and uncle, cousin and his two girls. We had room 2, a ground floor with garden view and porch roof; for us this was perfect and the highlight of our stay because of the dogs and because it afforded us with cover from the rain to sit outside. There was a small bottle of wine and card for my birthday which was a nice touch. The room was nicely decorated, clean and small, it met our needs but the toilet door hit the toilet, I'm not sure how disabled guests would work that but for us it was fine. However for the price I wouldn't have been happy of we didn't have the dogs. The service was generally good but the food was often inedible. The night we arrived my husband sent back his food and wasn't offered an alternative. Breakfast twice was again inedible for him, barely cooked bacon and hard poached eggs. The second day we both sent our breakfast back as was cold, my second one was lovely but my husband's poached eggs were solid again and for him inedible. There are clearly issues with the food/kitchen which is such a shame, especially as I wanted the famous Thai afternoon tea (recommended by my uncle and hence the reason we went there) which they wouldn't do as they have a reduced menu and reduced clearly means reduced quality. Unfortunately the spa wasn't open but when I originally enquired in May I had hoped it would be by August, sadly not although other hotels had opened their pools etc. I asked if I could use the spa on another occasion without booking a room.and they said no. My family's food was also inedible but their rooms were bigger upstairs. We also had charges on my bill for things we didn't have like puddings and room service, so if you go double check! Overall the view and garden was the best bit, potential to be so much better - it really let itself down.
