Basically I love the zoo. I always have fun and everything except their quality of food is great. I especially love Keeper Talks and feeding the giraffes. I advise you to pack a lunch as the food is not great and overpriced. I also wish they had more stuff in the afternoon because we are rarely there in the morning.
they have great exhibits and amazing events - fun for everyone
I always have mixed emotions about zoos, but this is one of the best I have visited. The enclosures are large enough for the animals to move about and contain features the animals would see in the wild, such as steep rock hills for the mountain goats. The grounds are lovely, with a lot of trees, bushes, and flowers. The zoo also does a lot of conservation work. It was definitely worth a visit.
Fun zoo to spend the day. We rushed through it and it still took about two hours. It was fun
It is a great place for kids to see wildlife and various of animals.
We had an awesome time today at the zoo. We got there early to beat the heat. Think we were there bout 3.5hrs and could of easily spent another hour there. Had a great day!
Rain didn't help, animals were smart enough to stay out of it, Butterflies was closed, opens the 24th, no Rose's showing yet, and prices in gift shop were a bit to high to even want to indulge, got lost alot, everybody there was great! Needed more benches, and outdoor cover. More food places, and variety, bottled water expensive. Would have liked to see more local crafts there to buy, maybe a electric little travel train that would stop and pick you up and take visitors to different areas stop any where and just go around would have been fun and helpful, baby giraffe a big hit, I'm sure I'll have a better time next time, I bought a pass! I grew up around the Northwest, hadn't been to the zoo in years, not big on caged animals, unless their happy, and some are, can't wait to see the butterflies. The kids all seemed to be having fun. T
We went while it was snowing. It was like we had the place to ourselves and so many of the animals were out and enjoying the snow. If you are willing to brave the weather this is a must do.
Went to feed the giraffes, it was quite an experience! Also had the chance to see some rhinos! Was a very nice experience in all, lots of shady paths which helped getting the kid around. Food at their restaurants was actually quite good as well!
The zoo is an excellent place for families and adults. Adults can easily get through all of it in a day; families with kids usually not. Popular exhibits are the penguins, gorillas, rhinos, orangutans, and petting zoo. The Zoomazium is great for kids to run around and play, but it also tends to be a bit crazy. I'd say the food is above average for most catered places, but expensive (no surprise). In the winter ZooLights is popular, and rightfully so. We went for the first time this year and had a wonderful time.
Wonderful venue to walk, take in nature, view animals and spend time with family! Very peaceful and relaxing. A great way to spend a few hours or the whole day!
Most animals had large, open enclosures. Enjoyable experience
Only my favorite place ever! I get a zoo pass every year, only $50. Pays for its self in 2 trips. Me and my daughter go as many times as possible. I love the different events they have to being people and animals closer.
Had an amazing time very clean and well organized zoo.
Super fun! Lions, Tigers, and everything else! Not too crowded. Just pick an arrival time on the site.
This zoo is well kept and has many animals from all around the world to learn about.
awesome zoo! been to many over the years and this one always stands out. great vantage points and amazing animals. the tigers are the most likely to be out of view, but what can you do. the snow leopards are usually up on the hill so the best place to see them is actually on the back side path by the northern trail. obviously timing is a huge factor so just do your due diligence to avoid coming right after feeding times and you wont be disappointed.
This is a cute zoo with pretty big animal areas. The annual pass is quite useful for locals. I found out this is one of two zoos in this area.
Had a lot of fun at this zoo. Going first thing in the morning is best to see the animals at their most active. There are several parking lots and costs $6 a day to park. My biggest complaint would be that the food court is very small, and tables fill up very quickly. There is outside seating that is not covered (not helpful when it s raining). The food itself was typical zoo food, expensive and moderate quality.
Best place yet my kids love it big nice workout walking the zoo and checking out all the cool animals we had a blast when we went good family day great for the kids I suggest you bring snacks though so don't get hungry while walking and drinks cuz it's expensive to buy the food there
Love the zoo, but my feet are always sore by the end... lots of walking!
You can spend a day with your family here ( 3 Hours minimum). 92-acre zoo with nearly 300 species, a vintage carousel, summer concerts & an indoor play space. The dining area is good for tasty and affordable.
One of the best zoo s I ve ever been to. The admission is really cheap, and we spent a solid 4 hours here without getting bored. Be ready to walk quite a bit though.
Had a great time nice place for families good prices great staff.
Awesome zoo. One of the best I've been to in the country.
Excellent zoo, smart design and layout. Great aviary sections for each biome.
I absolutely loved the zoo!! Nice and clean, staff was super friendly with asking guests to stay on the paths and compliance with proper mask usage,
Z00 Lightz felt like 1000 points of light, love & Family frolic ...& the only place it's OK to hit other people's kids.....with snowballs.
Incredible zoo, great place to spend time with families and enjoy with kids off all ages
I visited for Zoo Tunes & it was a great event! It was well-planned and relaxing. One of the best ways to enjoy a Seattle summer evening.
This zoo is truly wonderful. The exhibits and beautiful and the animals are well cared for. I loved that there were zoo employees occasionally hanging out to help show you were to look, one showed us that we could see a baby wallaby's feet hanging out of momma's pouch. One gave us food to feed ducks out of our hands. Another caught our attention to the giraffes about to pass by. I have a great video of that I'll post if I figure out how. This has to be my most favorite zoo trip ever.
The animal habitats are awesome. If you go in the summer the butterfly house is beautiful. The grizzly bears are enormous
Zoo was great, disappointing that there were no food stands open through the park and it was so cold. We went to the cafeteria or whatever you call it and it was so packed. The staff were all really great and working hard though
Big area with lots of places for anyone to enjoy them selves and not feel like they're is to many people. Zoo inside is awesome well laid out
Nice atmosphere. Quality coffee. Food portions are tiny
Check out the brown bears. They truly are the gems of this zoo.
The zoo is also very well laid out, without too much random walking between exhibits. Very wheelchair friendly. Get there early ish, if you want a parking spot close to the entrance. Handicap parking is free.
Cute little zoo in the city! I love their lights during the holiday season. It's a great place for date night or a ladies night.
It was wonderful inside and the staffs are super awesome
Always a good place to bring the kiddos, the zoo is amazing, and seeing all the animals really amazes me at the vast differences between the contenents and how animals have adapted to such a a diverse range of climates
Why would you not love this place? Great sights, friendly staff/volunteers (yes, even volunteers go out of their way to help you), affordable. My only complaint (which isn't even a valid complaint) is it's hard to see some animals -- but that is completely understandable. The animals would be very stressed out and die much sooner if they were constantly visible. And this is a common issue among all zoos for a reason. You just can't force animals to be constantly watched and expect them to be comfortable. So when you go here, or any zoo, understand you won't see every animal in every exhibit.
One valid complaint I do have is the insect/arachnid section was not very expansive. I was expecting more creepy crawly things to see, but I gotta say, of all the zoos I've been to, as strange as it is for me to say about a zoo in the biggest city I've ever gone to -- they're presentation was pretty small. I've been to smaller cities with more to exhibit. I'm not even interested in bugs, and I still noticed this.
Over all, a great visit anyway, especially if you show up in time to follow their path of shows.
Wish they had more exotic animals and a better map.. but overall an amazing place to be.
It's super easy and convenient to get to. I went there for a company picnic. The zoo was really nice. Most of the walkways have plenty of shade. Food prices are a little high as well as the gift shop. I would definitely bring a reusable water bottle as they have fill up stations all over the park (and it's free to fill).
They have improved the habitats to be more natural settings for the animals. They continue to improve.
Not the beat zoo I've ever been to, great membership prices for those weekend you dont want to spend too much. Regardless, my kids love this place.
Tip: if you park west of the zoo on the street, there are no time limits or parking fees
The animals seemed well tended to, happy, and healthy. The rainforest exhibit area was especially interesting. A well run establishment with great educational experiences.
Great school field trip, even on a cool wintery day.
My favorite part is the Willawong Station. Indoor barn for cockatiels and parakeets (birds). You can buy sticks with seeds for $2 and the birds will perch on your hand while they eat it. Super neat.
As for the zoo in general, it s always clean. It s easy to get around. The staff have always been super friendly and anxious to help my family in whatever way they can.
I personally highly recommend the family annual pass. Fantastic value. And because we had that we spent a lot of time there in the winter in the indoor zoomasium. (Anyone with kids four and under should do this every winter!)
My only complaint is it s rather on the small side. It doesn t feel like there s a wide variety of animals like there is at some zoos. Especially in a city as big as Seattle.
Animals live out their lives in small spaces, period. They should follow Costa Rica's example and send the animals to rescues where they can live on considerable acreage, and close down zoos. Another example of humans exploiting animals, and throwing away their lives merely to entertain kids. My adult children love animals, and they sure didn't develop that love by going to a zoo. We boycotted both zoos and circuses.
It is a nice zoo but often times the animals cannot be seen. :/ As an adult I get it but it is fustrating for kids.
