Very intimate setting with hardly a bad seat in the house. Good acoustics and nice stage in a beautiful building.
The infrastructure is a little older - seats are small, rest rooms are in the basement. It can get a little warm, especially in Summer.
Ushers are usually very friendly, but be advised they enforce their no-camera policy without a sense of humor. Great place for stand up comedy, singer-songwriter recitals, and similar events.

I love this theater, and the staff is always helpful and polite, just wish that the seats were a little more comfortable and spaced out. I've been to two concerts there in the past year and thoroughly enjoyed the intimacy and acoustics of this old theater. Worth the visit, just be prepared for the seats.

I really like this venue even though at times the seating can be a bit crude. It does add an intimate vibe to whatever show you are there for, which is nice, but might uncomfortable for a lengthy performance. Even then, the service to your seat is great and surprisingly timely.

Our seats were not able to accomodate us and security and the ushers were completely disjointed without a transparent way of resolving this issue. We had to wait 30 minutes into our show to find a resolution. Also we were given false advertising 2x by employees stating that parking was "fully validated" only to find out that it's not. My older father was stuck in a line of cars, unable to leave the parking garage after given a "fully validated parking ticket". Even after detailing these situations to management they still showed a complete lack of interest in making things right, only to say 'we talk to our employees'. The Wilbur needs to figure out how to show compassion and empathy to their older guests when the issue is clearly on their lack of employee training. The Wilbur needs to take ownership when delivering misinformation or when they lack in conflict resolution situations. Simple things like offering a credit to concessions or to tickets for a future show could go a long way in retaining customer satisfaction. Disgraceful for such a historic building.

You walk into an old school theatre that has been kept up well. All the seating has a great view. My biggest complaint would be leg room....there isn't any...at all. If your taller than 5' 8", good luck. I saw Ron White here and it was a good time.

Caution!!!! The drinks are stupid expensive!!! My date and myself ordered 4 tall harpoon IPAs total. Left a tip. Came out to $85!! Ummm... Whhhaaaaat??!!!??! I mean, I know it's Boston, but come on!!! It's beer.
Looks like I'll be taping nips to my ankles next time I see a show there.
Also, if you're on the lower (side) level, the seats are wicked close together. So, enjoy bumping elbows with the person sitting next to you! Thank God it was a comedy show. Only thing good was the performance!

This venue was perfect for the event I attended. I went to see comedian Andrew Shulz and the sound was great, views were clear, good lighting and audio and they did a phenomenal job keeping the foot traffic under control during entry and exiting.

This review is for the theater only, not the show. Parking isn't too hard to find on the surrounding streets /parking garages. Bathrooms were very clean and staff was friendly. I felt like there were too many staff members trying to help out too much. Also, get ready to play 16 dollars for a tall beer....

The Women in Comedy show we saw was awesome. Haven't laughed so hard in months. The Wilbur, on the other hand, was a nightmare. Who runs this venue? Have they ever been to a professional theater? Three sets of ushers sent us to the wrong section. Sat for 20 minutes before the show started when another couple comes in and says that we're in their seats. At first I thought that Ticketmaster had double-sold our seats (wouldn't surprise me), so the couple left to figure something else out. As the lights were going down, an usher came to demand that my boyfriend and I follow him downstairs. No explanation. I declined because at that point I believed that I was in the right seats, and the show was starting, anyway. Five minutes later another usher came by and waved her flashlight, asked to see my tickets again, and then demanded that I follow her downstairs. She wasn't moving from the row, so we followed her. No explanation, again. She took us through a maze of back-of-house rows and hallways, no clue where I was, and then deposited us in a section a level down in what -- apparently -- were our correct seats. I understand that I sat in the wrong place the first time, but after THREE SETS OF USHERS told us where to go, and then TWICE we were pushed around with ZERO explanation, this has left a terrible taste in my mouth. It's going to take a LOT to get me to go back to this venue. The place is also dirty, bathrooms a mess, seats ratty and old. What a shame for what seemed to have once been a beautiful theater.

Fantastic place to see a show. There is no bad seat in the house. Bathrooms are down stairs but they have a very old elevator to take you down if your disabled. At first, I asked how I could get to the bathroom, they had no compassion and told me nothing about an elevator . I was in tears when I asked another concierge they were very accommodating. I told him and pointed out the person that didn't help me prior and he was confronted. This is a very old theater too. I would go again only for those hard to find entertainment that doesn't come to Connecticut. The theater parking is far as well. Lots of walking and no free parking. Just be prepared if you are disabled and have a card for parking, they do not take cash!!!

I'm partial to theatres so I enjoyed this venue immensely. The box seats were a fantastic choice for a comedy show and dare I say, any show. Tons of restaurant and hotel options in the immediate area. Lines for drinks are very long, but that's to be expected at most venues.

Staff are competent and helpful. Seating is a little tight, and overall the interior could use a new coat of paint and general freshening up. Drinks not too unreasonable and the waitresses are attentive. But the main draw is it's the major comedy theater in Boston and attracts the best comedy acts. Close to several good bars and restaurants also for pre-show.

Staff is unprofessional. I've been there for 3 separate events this year and each time I can think of an example where I witnessed a staff member acting unprofessional. The bearded man at the door is beyond unprofessional, he acts like the gate keeper. I get that the building is old, but the temperature is uncomfortably hot during events. It takes 20 minutes to get to the bathroom and back due to their inability to mitigate congestion. Just not an impressive operation at all.

Small venue so wherever you sit you will have a nive view but I would definitely recommend getting seats on the floor because up in the balcony there is a lack of leg room. Also having floor seats will keep you closer to the bar.

Tracey Morgan was an hour and a half late, refund process was terrible (couldn't refund ticketmaster genuine resale tickets). I will never return here for any show, oh and they seal your cell phone in some filthy little bag.

Horrible seating bathroom packed and has an attendant... No need for that. Paid 155 for two tickets to see Dave Attell..great show but had to sit sideways at the small tables to fit everyone in so, neck was sore watching the show. Would recommend paying for balcony seats better view.

The show we went to was HILARIOUS (Nick Swardson Comedy Show), but the theater it self was cramped with crummy seating so the site was overall not crazy comfortable. Drinks were fine but overpriced, not nearly enough servers to cover the amount of people there for table service.

They always bring some top notch people here to perform, but what the eff is up with the seating? A majority of it in the "orchestra" section is all small tables and awful chair seating. The tables face inward, so you have to either crane your neck to face the stage or somehow move your chair, without hitting someone in the face or spilling their drink, or just pissing someone off in general. You are literally on top of people here and it doesn't make it too comfortable for a 2 hour performance. Also, 15 dollars for a mixed drink in a plastic cup? NAHHHH

They get excellent acts but if you are over thirty be prepared to be uncomfortable. The once venerable theater is in need of serious renovations. Access to restrooms very restrictive. They do make it easy to buy expensive liquor though.
