Does this place have stroopwafels?? I need the very desperately for a gathering
Beautiful market with tons of specialty items. The trip was worrh it. Pop up shoppe was nice.
Worst customer service. I went in today to buy a cake and the worker greeting people at the entrance was incredibly rude. I have never seen a worker say such harsh words to customers before. Cake tastes great though! But please do not hire people who are so rude and condescending. Sad that it makes people not want to visit ever again.
Their sales can be quite decent. Food quality is good and very consistent.
Great service!! Best place for nice meat. The butchers are knowledgeable and great to work with!!
I was hungry on my way back from Brazil to Toronto. I passed this shop on my way home and bought some bread, coffee and biscuits. They were delicious
I went to this store to buy cakes from their bakery almost every week, and they are super good. Must try!
High end grocer with prices to match. That being said, the service is excellent, selection is great, and the store is clean. I usually come here for their lunch options (the turkey avocado wrap is delicious). They recently opened a sushi bar as well - sushi rolls are fresh and decently priced!
This place deserves zero star, Only one person is allowed as per family at one time because of covid but what about the social distancing which is not maintaining at all inside the store. On the other hand it was raining outside hence i had to wait for long in heavy rain absolutely mismanagement i wont visit this location again. never ever, Period !
Love Village Grocer. Best selection of meat anywhere. Family in Oakville always tells us to bring the rib eyes.
Nicest grocery store I have ever been to, but (sadly) too rich for me.
July 2020 they taking temperature before entry. They sanitize the cart after every use and have it waiting for you.
I just went to grab the new ice creams they have. I'm pretty sure going back Friday to get more. Jelly roll was a hit with the fam.
Love their food but such a tight place. Many customers don't realize or just ignore the fact that it's a small place and don't give room for others to pass. Service is great; all the employees are friendly and helpful.
A little on the expensive side but well worth it in my opinion. The quality of the meat, bakery and produce are excellent and the shopping experience is very pleasant. A great place to go for lunch also, the hot table and sandwiches are fresh and well prepared,.
Freshest produce and amazing service. Best meats and freshest fish. Excellent assortment of plants and flowers. The Village Grocer is first class. We love the breakfast/lunch sandwiches and the warm nice ambience throughout.
you can find some good stuff which you can't in other place.
Clean; friendly, great selection and in store specials not in their flyer0.
Priced a little higher than regular grocery stores but not unreasonable
Very nice grocery store. There are lots of prepared food, soups, beef, chicken pies, jerk chicken with rice and many more to choose from. Lovely bakery, many pies, cakes, cookies, artisan style donuts, assortment of breads& rolls. High-end chocolates, jams and cheese's. There are aprons, placemats a nice assortment of things for the kitchen, dining room, hostess gifts.
Very expensive grocer!
Amazing selection and customer service. Highly recommend for shoppers tired of the impersonal big box stores. Equally huge selection in the garden centre. You won t be disappointed
Very COVID-19 friendly with stickers on the ground to ensure customers remain 6 feet from others. They also provided mandatory numbered grocery carts for customers to be able to conduct contact tracing, if necessary.
I've been shopping from Village Grocer since 2006, when I was a high school student and it was located at Kennedy & Carlton. And I've been a huge fan of their Jelly Roll, having it as often as I can at special occasions, or simply when I craved it.
Now I am married with my wife, and introduced her to the Jelly Roll, which is her favorite dessert in the world. Yesterday, I went to buy Jelly Roll for my wife's birthday, along with some flowers.
After blowing out the candles and whatnot, when we dove in to devour the cake, but it wasn't the same. The roll, instead of being filled with cream and fruits, was mostly filled with bread. When we had it just a few months ago, it wasn't like that.
I understand the wage has increased and you need to cut down the cost, but I'd rather pay a few extra dollars to have the Jelly Roll filled with cream and fruits, rather than cake. I hope this message finds the right person, so that when I buy a Jelly Roll next time, I won't be disappointed as much.
This place is cool, so much selection in a smaller size store. It is pricey for some items but quality of product is great so I don't mind the extra cost.
If I could give a zero star, I would!
We all know we are in the middle of stage two of the pandemic but come on!!
Tell your staff that they should at least smile and say hello before we come in to spend our money on your overpriced groceries!
No consideration for people with medical conditions, people with allergies or people with disabilities! You don't let disabled people in when they need assistance of friend or family member!! You wont even let women in with their children!! What are they supposed to do? Leave their child alone? Maybe send the child to the nursing home with grandma before they come shopping at your store.
There is a thing called human rights? Teach your staff properly rather than bark orders at them without any considerations!
Unfriendly , unprofessional and rude staff!
BTW tell your cart person he should also wear a mask!
Love this store. I got lost in the quality, freshness and quantity.... the variety of products is second to none. Two hours later, I left.... only to look forward to my next visit.
I ordered a cake. The woman in the bakery department told me the price, we confirmed the order, the name, the pick up time. When I went to pick up, she said no order is for my phone number. I showed her the number I called, she said this is the right number but no order for my cake! I was like hejdnbdhjdnne, what a bad experience!
Don't go in hungry unless you plan on getting food there!
It reminds me of going to Kensington market but a little more close to home. Higher end produce and meat products but also higher in price. I've never had the food there but their cakes are to die for.
I love the chocolate ganache cakes. It's a great way to get fat. I've had their some of their other cakes and it's always delicious!
A lille pricey, but great service and selection. Higher quality all around.
Top notch products. You pay the price but you can taste it
This is a boutique grocery store. If you shop mainly on price, it s not your place. But if you appreciate quality, uniqueness, and specialty items at a fair price, go here! Foodies will looove this place. In my view, Village Grocer epitomizes what a local grocery store should be. Active within the community, supportive of local foods & residents, thoughtful quirky written flyers, beautifully merchandised (I worked in the grocery merchandising business for 5 yrs - Village Grocer has it down pact) and variety. It s a treat to shop at Village Grocer not a chore.
Good, great selection. A tad expensive. But great products.
Great little supermarket with some exoteric cheeses, breads and other foods.
Stupid policy of one member per family could enter the store how. About if you have a child that is under 18 that is illegal. Demand of change the policy
Everything you need in one store. Bakery, produce and meats best anywhere. Great gifts ideas, lovely flowers and gourmet items. A bit pricey but worth it. Excellent customer service from all staff and even do a carry out. Great smaller carts.
Busy around noon hour and just about any time now.
Glad to see they have gone to biodegradable produce bags
Deals are really good. Plus the customer service is very pleasant and welcoming.
Such a lovely shop! My Mom adored the flowers I bought for her! Thank you!
Still good. Miss the old location. Havent seen the salmon pasta in ages. :(
First time at VG. Wow. Great assortment of food and drink. Helpful, friendly staff. Prices compare will with Pusateri, Summerhill Market and other upscale food stores. Will come back soon.
Cute little grocery store with a great selection of European goods, including a lovely bakery with some delicious stuff.
Not a pleasant experience on several accounts during my last visit.
Staff needs to be more respectful and quite frankly, need to mind their own business and keep their hands to themselves especially during a sensitive time like COVID.
I walked in with my wife where the one per household policy was not clear nor enforced by the 'greeter'. We both took our individual carts and I purchased my reserved jelly roll and another item. Upon check out, the cashier rudely told us that there is a one per household policy even though she never confirmed that we were part of the same household - she simply assumed (based on ethnicity most likely).
Then another staff came out of no where and noticed my wife's empty cart and interrogated her to find out why she came in to shop only to leave with an empty cart. He then interrogated me and asked how I got a Jelly roll because it was all sold out for the day. He then proceeded to lift up my groceries (without permission) to confirm if it was a jelly roll. I told him I reserved it through the phone and he was like, "ohhh you reserved it". C'mon, this couldn't have been your first day on the job.
Bottom line, train your staff properly to be more respectful and to mind their own business. Even if it is a store policy, you are asking customers to accommodate your policy. Customers shouldn't be made to feel like they committed a felony for not following a store policy that is built around maximizing profits.
Love this store because of their great bread and cheeses
I still love their meat. Recently moved to Barrie but was in Markham so picked up a couple of striploin, a couple of pineapples, some raspberries and of course some halloween cupcakes.
Excellent food and customer service! A real "boutique" grocery store experience!
Great selection of cakes, delicious and reasonably priced. Awesome selection of goods and kitchen gadgets
Best experience for a dinner party, that's right, not just a grocery store!!!
A boutique-style grocery store that offers a variety of high-end products.
Must try the desserts. Always get the cheesecakes there. I usually reserve the strawberry cheesecake that's a must not too sweet and fat like other places. There are many more delicious desserts as well. Bakery section always busy. Otherwise I don't do. My grocery shopping there it's over my budget lol. I guess it's more organic products.
Good food and services, body temperature checked at the entrance, social distance.
staff there was not kind but this place is a good place this was my first time to go there and its also gonna be the last time
They have high quality products and different variety from regular chain grocery stores. I especially love their dessert/bakery options, which changes up every week and allows me to explore different baked goods. My favourites are raspberry More
16 bucks for 2 pieces of cooked chicken breast, not even organic haha. They jack up certain items prices for some reason. Otherwise they got good gourmet and fresh stuff not found at other super markets. For veggies though, get it from cheaper places or you end up with 20 bucks for a pot of veggie soup.
Jelly roll is excellent. Good selection of cheese. Fruits are expensive but always good quality.
This is a high end grocer which makes it pricier than the average grocery store. Their bakery stuff is pretty good. I have ordered a cake here before. It is worth a visit if you are looking for an unusual spice or herb that isn't normally sold at your typical grocery chain.
Village grocer is always a treasure trove of goodies. They carry the interesting sauces, seasonings and cuts of meat that the others won't carry. Always something yummy in the bakery. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Always a pleasure to look around and find something new!
I just went for some pastries. But the grocery was tidy and clean for sure with lots of eyes-opening western food selections.
Great service, quality deli, meat and produce! We did a delivery service and everything was satisfying. Thank you to The Village Grocer s team!
This place is expensive, but it has top quality food, vegetables, meat, fruits, cakes, muffins, bread, flowers, plants and many more items not listed here . A very busy place !
Each shopping cart's handle bar is disinfected after use. There is a bit of a wait to get in. Staffs are as usual friendly.
Very busy. The owner told us it would open early today. It did not. Difficulty finding items we had preordered.
Have a nice choice of items you wouldn't find at typical grocery store and pretty much everything you would.
The baked section is amazing, I really endorse their white and black chocolate mousse cake and deli sandwiches.
