Great high end grocery market. High quality fresh ingredients with many delicious dishes. Coconut pie, cakes, turkey legs, etc. Never too busy. Prices reflect the high quality

Went to pick up a cake from the bakery- very inviting atmosphere, quality goods and groceries and all the staff were lovely! Would recommend if you're looking for gourmet items to introduce to your kitchen and their coffee cake from the bakery looks absolutely amazing!

Unbelievably 1,000 s of specialty food items from around the world, like pasta, sauces, jams, soups cheeses, and my favourite RAO s Italian pasta sauce. I use to bring it home from Florida . A real Butchers Meat Cutters, old school the best just Excellent Meat.

A good selection of great food from fruits and vegetables, baked goods and prepared foods. Certainly pricey but indoor this we keep returning! Almost weekly!

Staff is nice and friendly. The bakery is awesome. Deli is great too. Good cheese selection. We often come for the bakery. They got some unique assortment of stuff on the shelves that you won't find elsewhere -- and one of the other reasons why you should pay a visit. The extra premium is worth it. Cozy place. Good atmosphere.

I liked the place, but the fruits I bought there didn't taste very good even though pricier than many other places.

Was at a party in the upstairs space.. nice room, food was very well done, very creative turkey dinner in a martini glass.. yummy!!!! Alan and his staff provided exceptionally great service!!!!!!!

Great store, very nice selection of everything, great bakery, overall great experience anytime I visit. The only little disappointment I had during my last few visits is that some of the veggies I wanted to purchase (e.g. asparagus, green onions, etc.) were in really bad shape... doesn't happen often, but I can't leave it out from my review.

Bakery goods are so amazing there. Their cakes, scones and mille feuille cakes are delicious. They also have delicious cooked foods for a reasonable price. The rest of the produce is pricier though

Small town feel local products fresh baked goods, those are really good. They have their own fresh meats. A wide selection of local pre-made foods from, soup, to meals kits, bakery, deli, sushi and even a continental breakfast area with coffee and sandwiches. Good place to get fresh wholesome foods.

Best sandwiches in the city...grate pastries fresh...let your eyes - mouth and nose have a fantastic experience with food in Markham.

We have been going to The Village Grocer since they first opened off Markham Main St. They are our number one choice for any grocery item with specialties in meat and produce.

The quality is tops, service is friendly and helpful and if you can't find something special they will help you source it and possibly stock it.

Also a great place for host gift items from flowers to great kitchen accessories.

Our family favourite dinner is their flank steak along with deli salads or fresh corn in season.

The Village Grocer team are one of us, neighbours living, growing and helping in the Community.

Give them a try, I am sure you will become a regular.

Exceptional variety and quality of food, unique foods choices. An INTIMATE grocery shopping experience ( yes, I said INTIMATE ). The staff, local kids who deliver a great customer experience. Something you don t get at Walmart or Loblaws and CANT get at Foody Mart - What a mess, inside and out, stay away . On that note I should tell you how clean and fresh smelling the store is. Even the customers are more relaxed and friendly, that includes me.
You can impress your date, wife or mother ( HAPPY MOTHERS DAY ) with a store bought/prepared meal with side and a cake. I highly recommend the Carrot Cake, don t let the name scare you.
Start small, just pop in for a dessert ( Carrot Cake ) and have a look around, YOU LL BE BACK. Just in case the name Carrot may scare you away, my second favourite dessert is the Date Square, but get the tray.
Picked up a multi-course meal and dessertZ to surprise my wife (again ) for our day before Valentines dinner. Now the pressure is on her for tomorrow - Thank Q Evan and the village crew

They are being very thorough in screening customers and that is reassuring to me. As always, amazing bakery, deli, produce and meat. Lots of lovely Christmas chocolate right now.

This store offers a sumptuous selection of ready made foods and cakes. The cafe offers gourmet sandwiches and wraps for breakfast or lunch; they freshly baked everything based on home-made recipes. The deli stocks their own cured meats. Prices are more expensive than other retailers but the service is excellent. $$$

Excellent presentation and products. People who work here are also very courteous and helpful.

Love the cheeses, what an awesome variety - the Bellavitano especially. The garden centre is very good ... beautiful plants, reasonable prices. The prepared foods are great, although the cost adds up quickly. The bakery is awesome, the cakes are well worth the price and are beautiful! I am disappointed that the jams I was about to buy today were already expired ... Like Jan 2019, or March. I would have expected them to be on top of that.

Service is fine. Was better, may be just the day i went there during the past weekend.
Bakery, i found it was not as good as before. Jelly roll, the famous one, it was not as good when i tried it last time.
I bought an 8" (large) mango mousse cake this time. Okay the taste and texture. It's $39.99. I figured i could get a better cake, with this price, from a famous cake store.

I have gone to the Village Grocer for the last four weeks to purchase coffee. The flavoured coffee is always out of stock. I have complained three weeks in a row and again this morning at least six brands of coffee empty. I will go somewhere else where they can supply flavoured coffees.

My favourite grocery market in Markham. High quality foods, unique dessert options and doesnt get nearly as busy as other grocery stores.

Excellent boutique grocery store. Bakery is very good. Although on pricey side, but quality is excellent.

The owners are really helpful and they care about their regular customers. Wonderful place!

High quality food, price is a bit higher than the No Frills, but not out of line compared to Longos.

The shop is very distinctive and the prices are reasonable

They are getting so greedy not only there prices are double from other supermarkets now they are charging for there plastic bags!!! Like nofrills!!!! But nofrill prices are half so there profit margin is less.
And now the are charging extra if you pay by Visa.!!!!! Daaaaaaaa
Who ever the brainer behind this new policies will cause them to loose lots of customers.

Updated Review. They stopped charging 1% on ALL Credit Card Purchases, and have improved their cooked food. So I have adjusted my rating accordingly. I think the selection is smaller than other grocery stores but still a good option for cooked food/bakery.

Tried to get in contact with the chef to arrange for a cooked turkey for the holidays. I went into the store on Sunday and was told the Chef came into the store but was too busy to come out to meet me and that he wasn't supposed to come in, he only came in for someone else. I left my telephone number and never got a call back. So I followed up on Tuesday with a call, they paged the Chef but no answer. I told the girl I am following up from Sunday but I was told they may have misplaced my number on Sunday so I left my number again. Tuesday and Wednesday passes and no call back. So on Thursday, I called again and they couldn't page the Chef and was asked to leave my number again. This time I flat out asked if I should just look elsewhere and they told me to just leave a number. I don't understand how people are supposed to order this cooked turkey when it's so publized on their website. This chef seems too busy to care and quite arrogant to not even spare 5 minutes for a phone call. Either way, I have looked elsewhere.

Not your typical grocery store. Plenty of items not found at your big box stores. Many storemade prepared foods and frozen prepared meals. Fantastic produce albeit on the expensive side. But, you get what you pay for.

The fruit roll here is out of this world. I'd recommend visiting this place just for the cakes alone!

The bakery has a huge selection of great tasting items!

Love this place. It actually reminds me of longos, where they have a lot of good quality items and also they have a lot of unique items too, including food items and items for around the home and kitchen too.

They have little areas for their bakery, cafe, cheese, meats, seafood. Everything is very clean.

During COVID times, they really take COVID safety seriously! They give everyone a cart whether you need it or not. This is to track # of customers in the store and also helps with social distancing. They have different doors for entrance and exit. They take your temperature and make you sanitize your hands before you go in. After you finish, they take your cart to the cart sanitization area to sanitize your cart throughly!!

Highly recommend coming here for a safe place to shop.

It's a nice boutique grocer, with a good selection of products that are relatively non-mainstream brands. In other words, you will find many products that regular supermarkets don't. They have a rather impressive pasta collection, if I remember correctly, and the service here is very nice. However, of course you have to take into account that the price points are relatively high, and the selection is more focused but less diverse.

Well laid out, good food and delicatessen options, plus souvenirs.

Small grocery store with unique baked goods, fresh produce, good homemade soups and frozen entrees, top quality meat (especially their striploin and bacon), best sandwich bar! Not cheap but you get what you pay for!

The owners take great pride in every selection made and sold at the store. It's my favourite goto place when in the area. The "world's best veal chop" is my favourite!

Nice cake and pastry selection. Lots of drinks here you may not find elsewhere. Their meat department had cooked pork chop ham ready to be heated and eaten. Definitely recommended.

Went yesterday to pick up a cake that was pre-ordered, the store is well organized, the staff are efficient and friendly, and the selection of ice-cream and pastries and plentiful, physical distancing protocol in place and thorough cleaning of surfaces between use! Thank you for working so hard during this unprecedented year :) Merry Christmas!

Shopping at VG for over 40 years. Great place to meet friends for lunch and coffee. Exceptional food, meat, fish and bakery.
