The Village Deli Review

Village Deli is great, the service is pretty fast, it's centrally located and the food is just what you'd expect from a college town staple. The one exception is the burger. IT IS INCREDIBLE! I don't go there for breakfast much anymore, there are other places I prefer, but that burger will bring me back again and again.

Been going here since I was a kid. Love the dependable predictable no frills dishes. A Btown classic!

Came on a Sunday, and expected it to be busy, which it was. They had us at a table in about 30-35 minutes, which was pretty good with the amount of people. Food was very good, left my parents and myself full. Staff did a good job checking on us and our food, refilling drinks, etc. Great atmosphere as well.

Overall, the experience was fine for what it was basic diner-style menu, quick as-expected food, adequate but impersonal service. Fine, just not memorable.

Very good food and great value! Got their biscuits and gravy along with the Hoosier scramble and both were excellent. Definitely a spot to go for breakfast with an empty stomach. You will not leave here not feeling full. Their was about a five minute wait and the staff there move quick and efficiently. Worth trying if you haven't already.

You don't serve lunch until 1? It is great that you serve breakfast all day long, but no lunch until 1 during the week? Not everyone wants to have pancakes for lunch

I'm not sure why this place is highly rated. Maybe if you don't know what good food is and don't know any better. Or if you're a hungover college student. The daily special scrambled eggs was the worst I've had in my life. It was like scraps of thin pieces of egg and leftover meat. Basic as it gets and not even done right. Only decent thing was the cinnamon roll pancake.

The food is fantastic I have never had a bad meal. The only suggestion was biscuits were too dry. The blueberry lemon poppyseed pancakes are so delicious. The menu selection is very broad.

The pancakes are bigger than the plate! One is plenty ;) Great place to take the family.

Best place for breakfast! Plenty of food at a reasonable price. Service is good and did I mention the food is absolutely delicious?! A definite must go to place when you are in Bloomington.

Last bite was as delicious as the first! Got the Breakfast Tacos, would DEFINITELY recommend! Will for sure be coming back in the future.

No other customers and had to wait good 35+mins for food once served asked for a side dressing, cause my chicken was so over cooked dry. Took at least 10mins then went in to ask waitress about it she said it be right out .another 10mins passed before I got it. Service was poor .. Food over cooked

Always a long wait on the weekends but totally worth it. Probably the best sit down breakfast in Bloomington.

The wait was a bit long, but acceptable because it is on the IU campus. Food came fast and was very delicious. Portions were very healthy. Moderately priced.

Quick and friendly service. Food is what you pay for but the atmosphere is tough to beat.

Excellent food for Sunday breakfast for 9. Very friendly, attentive waitress. Made sure coffee was always full. Sat outside so don't know what inside looks like.

Food is fantastic, everything from their breakfast wrap to pancakes to milkshakes. It is ALWAYS busy though, and consequently the service can be iffy sometimes. Definitely worth going at least once though.

We went there at 1:30pm today. We left at 3pm after waiting over an hour for our food. Honestly, they must have just forgotten about us. The waiter brought us out some potatoes after 50 minutes (yes) that were good bc our food was taking so long but that didn't help the fact that we and our kids were starving & frustrated. We were the only ones with kids in the place and the only people without food. I ordered a cold chicken salad sandwich & grilled cheese for the kids. 70 minute wait. Additionally there was only one working bathroom that was nasty. I've heard great reviews but we will never eat there again.

Food and drinks are pretty consistant with each visit. It's an ease of mind for me to expect to get what I am ordering. They have the best ice for your drinks in my opinion which may sound silly, but you'll just have to try it for yourself. Coffee is fresh and food is good. Just be prepared to wait for a table on the mornings of the weekends.

This place is absolutely amazing! They are always busy but get you seated fairly quickly every time! You can also get coffee while you wait! They are so hospitable!

Service wasn t great I felt rushed the whole time I was there. Food was average. I may try this place out again but if your looking for a chill place this isn t it.

This is actually Lounge 51, as I know it. It is a beatiful space, nice bar, great for after work or social gatherings; a coffee shop below, if you are not into alcohol. First experience of food was it smelled delicious (a big juicy burger). I tried the jerk chicken slider and burger slider. I would do the jerk chicken again, the burger slider was average; I'll get to that big juicy burger soon. More to come, it's a new spot for me!

Traditional breakfast spot in Bloomington; with seasonal menu items (pumpkin pancakes in the fall). Service is always very friendly and families are welcome.

It can get very busy especially on a game day.

It is worth the trip and wait, but you will need to be patient.

Couldnt cook the bacon as ordered, it was limp and fatty. Sent back twice. Told "if its cooked too much people sent it back" I just wanted it crispy!! To much to ask?Waitress never came back with the bacon and I wasnt checked on until my other food was finished. Then the waitress acted as if she was doing me a favor to taking it off the bill. Never had an experience like this here and very suprised/offended by a simple breakfast experience.

My only suggestion is that you pursue waste-free creamer options (as opposed to all the little plastic creamers). Great food and great prices!

I loved the place first time which is why I went again, but my order was mixed up and they forgot to serve bacon.

Nothing special about this place except its location. Lazy service. Employees were not dedicated to serving customers, all of them hanged around near cash register and kept chatting.

People say it is a great place for brunch. When we went service was very slow and the food was not very good at all.

Stopped in for one of their giant blueberry pancakes. It was an IU Football game day so noise level was insane & I wasn't feeling well. Asked the waitress if we could get our food boxed up to go and she was terrific about it! Food at VD is pretty good, service for a game day was outstanding!

Legendary Kirkwood landmark does a brisk business with simple, hearty classic breakfast foods and lunch sandwiches. My kids adore the piled-high whipped cream on the hot cocoas, as well as the hub-cap sized pancakes. If it weren't for the long lines, this would be our Sunday tradition.

Great place to eat breakfast at any time of day. The staff is usually college kids but they are always nice and accommodating. This place is usually pretty busy expect a wait , luckily there are tons of shops and things to do while you wait.

Good service, great food. I have eaten there several times, the food has always been good and so has the service.
