Went on a Sunday night and the food was horrible. I think the chef was off that night. Was suppose to eat outside but put us inside. Food cane out overdone and tiny portions. I don t recommend eating there!!

Recently stayed at the Vanderbilt Grace. This was by far the best hotel experience I have ever had. From check-in to cocktails to dinner and breakfast, everything was phenomenal. I also had a massage in the spa which was wonderful. Highly recommend!

The building was overall neat and interesting. Somewhat dated but that was part of the charm. The valet staff did a great job and were very helpful. The staff at the two desks was hit or miss. Restaurant service also hit or miss. Had two breakfast and they were good and one dinner with spotty service. The air conditioners were awful. Extremely loud and did not work well. The cleaning service was also bad. We came back from day out and room to door was ajar. They never closed the door. Called to tell front desk and no feedback given. They also came to do turn down service at 9 o clock. That is was too late and later than any other hotel we have ever been in.

Outstanding service from everyone we encountered. Including management. Awesome laid back lounge. With a fire place and s'mores provided for us to make. Ordered some drinks, played some scrabble and also a Chess board as well for those who play. Considering staying at there hotel next time because we were so impressed.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Grace Vanderbilt and would come back again. The hotel location is excellent, close to the waterfront and other areas but just far enough to feel tucked away from the hustle and bustle down there . Our room was well-appointed and the service was excellent - all staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast at the hotel was also excellent. The roof deck view was amazing and much better than the Viking rooftop which had been recommended to us also. For a couple areas of improvement, it would be better if the rooftop menu was expanded a little more and thought the tuna tartare dish was very bland and the quality of the tuna was less than one should expect at hotel like the GV. Also, the heating/AC units are very loud and considering the pedigree of the hotel should really be addressed.

The bar is cozy and modern, with a unique and creative cocktail menu. The dining area is beautifully decorated, very comfortable. The menu has wonderfully prepared, delicious dishes for any course. Desserts are an absolute must!

Hotel staff was top notch!....as far as the rooftop bar, like night and day. I went for sunset drinks and waited a ridiculous amount of time to even be acknowledged. I asked one of the servers if I could order a drink...and she responded "I can't take your order right now, I have two other tables...go order at the bar." The bartender was not as rude, albeit pretty busy she was doing her best. To management at the rooftop, you need to let your wait staff know speaking to your customers like that is Unacceptable! I wanted to relax after my long journey from New York, and this put a damper on my evening. The sunset views were very beautiful though. As for the hotel staff, keep doing a great job! Devyn was extremely professional and courteous.

Wonderful place. The accommodations were outstanding and the individual concierge was five stars. Small intimate place but not stuffy and plenty to see and roam about. Great view on rooftop with bar. Service was excellent. Food was good. And smack in the center of Newport. Friendly and accommodating staff.

We made the Grace Vanderbilt our "home base" for our daughter's wedding and it was absolutely the best decision we could have made. Every room in our hotel block was a beautifully appointed suite. Every member of the GV staff was attentive to our needs and we felt they were personally invested in our celebration. Communication with the hotel staff as we planned all of our special events was excellent.

The beautiful Vanderbilt Grill was used for both our rehearsal dinner and Welcome Cocktail party. The sales staff and the chef were happy to customize each event for us and the menu and drink selections were delicious. They even arranged for delivery of the groom's favorite Newport ice cream and staffed a fabulous ice cream station for our guests. They also allowed us to use their magnificent grand piano for an end-of-evening sing-along.

The hotel is intimate and we received personal attention and service from the staff on every level. The management is committed to an excellent guest experience and they were in contact with us by email and phone in the weeks just before the wedding to make sure every detail was correct. Upon our arrival the general manager and sales coordinators made it a point to introduce themselves to us and assure us that they would be available at any time for any need.

The event manager made some excellent suggestions regarding accommodations and assigned two connecting suites to my daughter and her bridesmaids so there was ample room for preparation and celebration. The morning of the wedding was busy with florists, photographers, and hair and make-up artists. The staff delivered a delicious breakfast buffet to the my daughter's suite and was attentive throughout the morning. The Grace Vanderbilt has many exquisite settings from the red-lacquered walls of the snooker room to the garden conservatory; it gave us so many lovely backgrounds for the wedding preparation photos.

I highly recommend the Grace Vanderbilt for their gracious and flawless hospitality.

Everything about our stay here was exceptional. From the kind welcome after we had been out in the heat of the day, to the food, the room, and your spectacular rooftop bar we felt spoiled in the very best way. It is my hope that we this was just the beginning of a wonderful, long-term relationship.

We really enjoyed the historical charm of the hotel. A few suggestions on improvement.

We asked bellboy and front desk for s couple of things, and they forgot. When you re paying close to $1000.00 a night that should not happen.

We were surprised by how small the pool area was. Also, it was difficult to get a drink. You should have a waitress keeping an eye on that area to see if guests want water, or mixed drinks. At least have a bucket set up with waters. You could actually fit a small bar out there, a few more lounge chairs, and have some low music for guests. The pool should be a place you want to hang out, instead of an after thought.

We went down to spa a couple of times, and no one was at desk to make appointment, so we never did. Again customer service.

Suggestions for lobby would be some low music, and again, keep the bar open in dining area so guests can grab a drink. They are on vacation, and spending a lot of $$. The only option should not be the rooftop.

We had breakfast one more g and food was not great. All we got was an omelet, homecries( very mediocre). Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, which bacon was soggy, had to send back. Hotel decor was charming, but lower level and stairwells really need fresh cost of paint. Again, a five star hotel should look like a five star hotel. Just saying.

The apartment (mansion) is used as a hotel and the interior is very luxurious. There are up to the second floor depending on the room and it is surprising. The food was very delicious, fitting to the Japanese people. There is a meeting room in the basement, projectors etc. can be used, and it can also be used for meetings. There is also a parking lot.

The absolute best view of the Newport Harbor! If you are cold, they will gladly bring you a blanket. The hotel is VERY nice; the servers are extremely professional. It's clear that they have all been well trained. If you bring your dog with you to dinner in the garden, they will happily serve it dinner. No joke- there's a doggie menu! Highly recommend you visit the Vanderbilt Grace!

If your family needs flexibility with cancellation...

If your family needs flexibility with cancellation policy, this hotel is NOT for you. We had to pay 100% of reservation after we canceled. Not just the first night, but the entire cost. I asked to reinstate reservation, which was denied as rooms were more than likely booked for Labor Day weekend. When I asked for credit, that too was declined. We lost a lot of money for changing plans. Do read their very strict cancellation policy carefully and be sure not to have any emergency or major changes at the last minute!
