Nice black box theater for plays. Lots of comedy actors originated from here.
Sadly disappointed. Being in NYC I expected world class improv. Cage Match StepFathers vs ... some other group, game 9 I think.... very lame. Sorry guys =(
Really great place for a fun and cheap little date, 10 bucks for most shows and its a good venue , they have a little mini bar with fair priced drinks to enjoy the , The improv is pretty awesome (though there are some total misses) and the sketch comedy shows are super fun!
Great for a date or night out with friends.
A lot of big names got there start doing this
Always find the comedy here great and have an entertaining evening. the tickets aren't that expensive and you get good value-for-money even the drinks are reasonable at intermission. Great place to go if in town by yourself with a small group have fun it's a laugh.
Love this place. Admittedly the humor is not for everyone. But I always have a great laugh. The acts are always fresh and new.
What a fun theater! UCB offers great improv comedy shows for a really low price. Unlike most comedy clubs in NY, there are no hidden costs or drink minimums so it is such a great place to go to see some good comedy without breaking the bank!
The improve was great, quick and fast paced. Highly recommend for an inexpensive date night.
Went to the Sunday night free improv show and it was FANTASTIC! One of the best night's out in NYC! Get there early because the line gets long! Even though the show is it at 9pm, on a nice night, people start lining up around 6pm. This show is worth the wait!
Talented young actors made for a night full of laughs!
Very entertaining... I loved it. I hope u enjoy it as much as I did.
What a treat. Absolutely hilarious troupe of energetic performers. If you're in town and can get tickets this one is an obvious choice. Thanks for making us laugh!
I have only been here once..... And now I try to go every time I get a chance!!!!
This is the best place and any other place can eat this place's dust until they choke on the self realization that they should just become another venue for UCB.
Air conditioned, stadium seating and affordable price. They sell beer/wine. You can also get your tickets for a later time and go bar hopping before the show.
Comedy in a dark room with strangers. What could be better?
I never knew I could laugh so much for five dollars!
We make it a tradition to come see a show every time we visit New York! Reasonably priced tickets and great performances. Never been disappointed.
Also you will not need a sweater or jacket in coming to see this performance as the theater is quite warm temperature wise.
A nice bonus..they offer refreshments for low cost outside the doors such as water.
Improved shows that regularly feature celebrities who just show up because they want to participate in something more connected. Also some great improved classes for those interested in performing.
This is the thing to do if you're visiting New York and you want to get great entertainment at a fantastic price. It's not a home run every night, but the energy is almost always extremely high and you always walk out pumped up for whatever else you're doing with your night.
I had more fun vomiting from bad chicken soup than I did at the Friday midnight show. Jesus.
Came here for one of the improv shows. The show itself was good, rather entertaining. I liked the energy from the comedians.
The queuing for tickets was just weird. As a foreigner, it's just surprising how much queuing there is involved in NY. Waited in line for tickets, which they gave out at 8+, and then have to queue again later. Sigh.
Caught a Cage Match improv competition. Was great! Really talented people!
I m a former Chicagoan living in Michigan who desperately misses good comedy. Was in NYC for my girlfriend s work trip and decided to hit their midnight show on Saturday and it did not disappoint.
Great place to see improv! Not a bad seat in the place.
One of the very rare clubs that allows minors. We saw some fun improv. All shows are short and casual. Definitely will return
The members are always HILARIOUS. If you don t leave with your sides hurting then you did something wrong.
It is a famous comedy club and the entrance fee is cheap but I don't know if it is fun.
Saw Phantom of the Opera. Was great. Nice theater. Was four rows from the front stage left.
Hard to beat shows in the $10 range. Theoretically these span the gamut, but I have to say the shows are more often good than not. An easy and low barrier live entertainment experience in a convenient spot.
Always fun and original shows. The improv shows are first rate. They sell a wide variety of beers and drinks and great prices.
Get your tickets ahead of time to be sure you get in.
We saw the Curfew. I've never seen long form improv like this before. It was far better than I anticipated. I thought it'd be awkward and cheesy, but I was wrong. They were very funny and the flow was stellar. I highly recommend seeing one of their shows.
You never know what kind of show your going to see, but ya got to go. And for such a low fee. Ya gotta go
Fun, inexpensive (10 bucks) amusement for something to do after dinner. Enjoyed the comedy group we saw and would return.
Had a great time here! I went to three different shows, and each one was funny and entertaining. I definitely plan to come back whenever I m in New York!
I recommend buying you tickets online at least several hours in advance, because I had a couple shows sold out by the time I tried to buy tickets.
I Iaughed until I thought I'd fall out of my chair. I'd go there any night for any show. We had the best time.
We went to the NOT The Daily Show improv by a group who writes from The Daily Show. Very very funny! Only 9 bucks each! We were going to spend a load on last minute tix to a musical but opted for UCB. Smart move! Plus it's in Hells Kitchen. Awesome eats nearby without "midtown steakhouse" prices. Going back tomorrow night!

I
I give the performers a lot of credit for putting themselves out there. It just wasn't the type of thing that I would likely do again.
If you're a fan of improvisational comedy you should check this out. If you want to guarantee a laugh it's probably a safer bet to go to a stand-up show.
Really great sketch comedy, as well as other shows. Beautiful theater. Not the easiest subway access but worth the walk from Times Square.
Great local comedy. A must see stop for anyone with a sense of humor.
I'm a bit biased since I live improv and have taken a bunch of classes but bang for your buck this is a great way to spend your evening. Especially if you're tired of going to the movies or something.
I recommend the 7:30 show on Saturday it's 5 funny people doing improv of three topic they get from the crowd and the experience is different each time. Just make sure you get there early because the seating is always packed.
The improv we saw was a funny but definitely not hilarious (and we were kind of expecting that).
Amazing standup for free, and cheap beer with constant surprise stand up comedians. Great place all around that I go to every week.
Lots of quality improv shows. The room itself is relatively small and out-dated, but that's not why you're there.
Good view everywhere, cheap tickets, but no food/drink allowed in theater.
Long stand by line on Sunday nights for the leftover/unclaimed tickets.
You can't find a better time in NYC for cheaper. Cagematch on Thursdays is probably my favorite. Every night spent here is a great night out.
See who's coming to town and check out some improv. Have a few beers while you laugh.
78. Thanks a lot to him, my brother went missing and I asked him to do some spell so that he comes back home he was missing for three days. God bless you Sankar Ji.
Had the opportunity to see our son Max perform in several improv shows and each one keeps getting better! if you ve not seen one, book it now.
What an experience. Everyone has heard of the UCB (and of course its many elebrity members old/new) but to actually take in a show at the theatre is an experience like none other!
You really feel like a local and few a connection with these often up and coming actors, comedians, musicians, etc.
That s the thing...you never know what you re going to get because it s improv and that s what makes it awesome. No one day is the same as the next. You and only a handful of others might even be seeing the next big thing without even knowing it!
Da seats r comfy da entertainment is siccxz I Luv it thank u it's beaut
Great shows for a cheap price also most of these guys will be famous in a few years
World class comedy, of the improv and sketch varietals. Super affordable for most/all shows. Always funny, sometime hilarious.
This is basically the center of East Coast Improv, and possibly modern comedy. The seating is intimate, and there are no bad views. The comedy on stage is just phenomenal. I can't recommend seeing a show here highly enough. And no two shoes are ever alike. Many of the people making and starting the best modern comedies came up on this stage. See the new up and comers most nights of the week, with the occasional drop in of someone already famous.
For a unique experience, a UCB show cannot be beat. And they have cheap beer. How could it get better?
The actual shows are fine, but the building is a bit dank. So happy they're moving to a location! Can't wait to see it.
Very funny shows. If show is sold out just go 15mins before and wait in stand by line! Price is always 5$ entrance
World renowned comedy theater. Most shows are only $5.
My favorite place to see comedy in town. I've seen some of the funniest people perform here from close friends to celebrities.
Good way to spend the evening of you're into comedy!
This is a proper theatre and GREAT for improv watching.
The biggest downside is: you NEED to get there early for your show. The lobby is very small, so waiting in line is chaos brought to life.
I am sure they tried, but the improv/standup show we saw last Friday felt kind of awkward to watch. There were a couple of laughs, but I had higher expectations due to the association with Amy Poehler and others. This paled in comparison to our other comedy experience at, let's call it, mmmmm, 'humorous basement,' ahem. Maybe if I had nothing to compare this to I would have liked it more. Or maybe they were having an off night or something.
Great comedy for 5(or 10) dollars. Definitely a great off Broadway theatre.
An east New York branch of the ever popular UCB theater, this one is much cleaner but the staff is just as friendly and the comedy is just as hilarious. The whole place definitely feels more polished then the original UCB NYC but that's to be expected from the fact this is their second try at it. The only complaint is their new stage is set up very much like a movie theater and I feel the black box set up at the original UCB was better suited for the improv. Overall a great place I'll be sure to go to again and again
