Nice theater. Good for all kinds of performances especially stand up and improv.
Seats about 160 with a box office and restrooms.

Check out their improv show featuring multiple improvisers. Come early to get on line.
Affordable and hyper-original comedy performed by some of the best improve artists in the city. There are no bad seats and the staff are incredibly accommodating. this place.
Saw free Asssscat show on Sunday night. The actress who played Jan Brady was there. She was fun. The improv cast was tight. People in the audience made some dumb/stupid funny comments. There was beer. There were some really good laughs. Lots of tourists, but mostly hipsters. Would go again.
It was hilarious. I saw the Law Firm troupe. They started the show by asking people in the audience about things that wronged them and based the first half of the show on that.tl The second half was based off of one word. Great time overall.
Great, spanky new theater spot for the comedy giant. Very nice!
Strong performance from the stepfather's! They definitely made the show for me and my group of friends!
Great comedic performances. Some acts are hits.. Others not so much
First time for us here and we had so much fun! We saw The Curfew at 7:30pm on Saturday, which is the improv show. I highly recommend purchasing tickets the day before and showing up about 30 minutes before the show begins to get good seats, and to sit together if you travel with a big group. The shows do sell out so don t wait till you get there. They also offer some free shows that you have to get tickets for the same day. They also have drinks for purchase so a plus! Highly recommend!
great acts, and you might spot someone famous or future famous (I saw Aziz Ansari at UCB before he blew up)
This was a fun place to go! The show was good and the price was even better. The seats are a bit crowded, but I guess that is part of the New York experience.
74. I called Sankar Ji for helping me as me and my family was facing some financial problems. Payments from customers were stuck and we urgently required money. Sankar Ji fixed the problem and we got our money back on time. Thank you Ji.
Visited three times during our vacation to NYC. Definitely the best comedy around, really talented people, I laughed so much! Never been a fan of improv until yesterday. A must have experience if you are visiting New York.
Gentrify at 10:30 is awesome. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe. 404 at mightnight though was just awkward. If you're really into watching internet videos with random people, then I suppose it's ok. The comments made weren't even funny.
Great improv at a good price, good energetic crowd. Not a bad seat. However the theater was uncomfortably hot the night we visited.
Tons of fun, an institution. Inexpensive, high-quality entertainment you should absolutely take advantage of.
My face hurt from smiling!! Love this new venue. Easy to get to and the warmth of UCB History prevails.
The show (the curfew) was absolutely fantastic, although English is not our mother tongue we truly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the customer service was not so great; purchasing tickets online did not work out and although I tried contacting the theatre multiple times via email, I never got a reply which was annoying and unnecessary, especially since the show turned out to be so great! We ended up arriving really early to get tickets by being in the standby line which worked out great (we were like 30 minutes early & first in line) but I do wish I would've gotten a little more support since it was an event for a loved one's birthday and I wanted everything to turn out perfect.
Fun to watch. Small theater makes it more exciting. Volunteers from the audience add flavor. Sell drinks in lobby.
Their new location is great and they finally have a bar!
Fun random new york event. Small bar with wine and beers 4-8 dollars
Just attended a free performance, "Dirty Laundry". Great fun, good laughs.
Really funny improv comedy, went to their most popular show, ASSSCAT and a barley-attended late performance of werewolf, and both were absolutely hilarious.
Saw the best improv I've ever seen! great new space
I don't know if it was bad night, but I found the sketch to be extremely annoying and I honestly left in the middle of it. I went to a show where the improv group act as psychics and tries to read the crowd. None of the readings were remarkably interesting and I could tell one comedian was trying really hard to pull material, but the crowd was unfortunately extremely lame. I didn't really find a lot of the jokes funny. A lot of reptition of the same joke just used mildly different. after a while it just feels like you're beating a dead horse. I didn't know there was no seating when we got there, it was a sold out show. I tried leave right before to get refund, but was told all sales are final. No, I get that I wish I knew beforehand before I bought a ticket that I wouldn't find seating. Also, the guy was kinda rude. I get improv is hard and sometimes you're vibing really well with people on the stage and the crowd, and sometimes you're not. I just really didn't have a good time.
Um it's a good time if you go with friends. The cast is hit or miss thou.
I attended a friend's improv night and really loved how awesome it was to sit in this small venue, in auditorium seats and watch the stage where comedy greats have performed!
The night I was there, the second group is better for sure. They are better than me, but not by much. Improv is hard, and they are just students
Great night out for anyone visiting NY. Very accessible and performances typically last an hour.
Very good improv shows, and very cheap. If you want to go on a good time during Fri or Sat, make sure you reserve a ticket beforehand online.
Excellent place for group outings or low key dates. The shows are reasonably priced and the laughs are worth every penny. Check the UCB's website to spot when writers from late night shows like Colbert's or the Daily Show do improv together! These particular performances are hilarious and acquaint you with the people behind some of your favorite late night shows. Otherwise, the Friday 10:30 PM show at UCB's Hells Kitchen never disappoints.
Went for a free experimental night and had a lot of fun. The people are great, and jokes were hit or miss (but expected for a late late night). Great energy, and it was free! Can purchase drinks at the bar and the theater is very intimate.
Improv is comedy that forces you to live in the present. We saw better jeapordy which is modeled after the game and allows for a lotbof short comedic moments. As for stepfathers, it was excellent long form improv. The improv is on par with second city in chicago.
Hilarious comedians doing there best to please the crowd. The free show turns your evening into a mission. Bring a group of friend to wait in line and the experience will be worth it.
What a fantastic experience! This is the kind of thing that makes me feel like a real New Yorker.
It was well organized, the staff and interns got everyone into the space in an efficient manner, and the provided advice of getting to the theater 15 minutes in advance of showtime was taken seriously by all, which was great.
I enjoyed the show and I could see the whole stage because the seats were properly constructed in the auditorium style. The size of the space is small enough to feel very intimate and the nature of the show I saw (Gravid Water) pulled the audience in quite well.
UCB is a lot of fun and fully wheelchair accessible! And what's better than funny and inclusive??
Absolutely brilliant comedy shows at a very low price.
I've become a regular here with my husband. I always have a great time.
Get tickets in advance. I catch a show here anytime I'm in the city. Always have a good time here, always.
My weekly routine was to wait in the standby line every Sunday for the free ASSCATS show, with hopes of getting in. It is worth the wait and be prepared to cry from laughing so hard. So much talent on that stage!
First time here, and had an awful experience. My friend booked tickets for my group in advance, and when we arrive to the place before the show time, we found out that they were overbooked. The usher told my group that there were no more seats available so we should sit on the floor. We were shocked that we would buy tickets for a show and an usher would immediately tell us to sit on the floor.
I was recently released from the hospital with some nasty injuries, so sitting on the floor would end up causing me pain afterwards. I spoke to the ticket booth person and no one in the booth was sympathetic to my complaint. He called the manager and the manager low-key didn't care about anything I said. She wanted me to kick people out of their seats in order for us to have seats.
I didn't want to look like a bad guy in front of all those people in the audience, so I declined. She didn't offer a refund or did anything to resolve the situation. An hour after leaving the show I started feeling a good amount of pain from sitting on that floor. And the floor was filthy too. So now my friends and I will no longer go to any shows at this location.
If I could give this place zero stars I would.
Artistic, unassuming, off Broadway theatre. Low key shows, would go again
I LIKED what they do!
It's an excellent place for learning more about COMEDY, & all aspects to further a career in the entertainment industry!
It's classes are a bit high-priced, & worth it, if affordability isn't an issue!
I always have a good time here. Tickets for shows are cheap and of course with it being improv, the quality can't always be the same but I generally always walk away very satisfied.
Well worth the $7 or whatever tickets cost.
Cool theater. Large space and freak acoustics. Kinda far from most subway lines though.
