Hilarious! Highly recommended. Booze is expensive but it's part of the whole experience and surely adds to their bottom line (so drink two!)
I try to take all my guests here at least once!

This place is a real treat. I went there because a friend wanted to go. We didn't know what show was best but we showed up to the improv show. It was absolutely hilarious. The drink prices were also reasonable. Whenever I come back to New York, I definitely want to go back!
Free and hilarious! (Free on a Monday, reserve online)
Great place to see a show and not break the bank! Always, always hilarious though some favorite groups are GOAT, Grandma's Ashes, and We Know How You Die. If you get the chance to go here, you owe it to yourself to do so!
Don't expect much from theater space but great performance and cool stuff maid our experience great.
Great show, talented improvisors, and fun interactive crowd. Price is Right!
I went for 8 show it was only 7$ per person. The place is not fancy but okay and clean. You could tell guys taking care of that place. They sale beer and wine before you seat down. I thought it was pretty cool. I want to come back for 9:30 show lol
Show was mediocre and how are there no more seats left for people who paid for tickets? Terrible experience
A nice evening of improv. They were not the best improv I have seen, but a pleasant experience none the less. The bar there only accepts cash.
Had a great time at improv bingo! So much history in this theatre!
At the risk of sounding like everyone else, I have laughed the hardest I have ever laughed at what I have seen on this stage. Everyone in NY should see shows at UCB. ESPECIALLY when there is nothing else to do in the city, which is often.
Least favorite of the UCB theaters, large room but a poor use of space, lots of wasted space behind the stage and on the sides, uncomfortable seats, rude employees telling you were to sit. I miss the UCB Chelsea.
funny and cheap! great for groups. just be sure to reserve a spot beforehand - you can try for standby tickets, but shows are usually sold out. i went to the friday night 9:30pm show and it was great. i would love to get to the sunday night show (snl/30 rock/awesome people usually show up on that night!).
Biggest bang for your buck entertainment and beer in NY
Great way to spend a night in NY without spending too much. Highly suggest buying tickets in advance for their improv shows but you can always try standby tickets. Very talented improvers. West location is better than east.
Unbelievable place. I was laughing for the whole session even though I'm not usually laughing at comedy movies like that. They are masters in what they do because they do it with such naturality. I am impressed until now of how something that is improvised can be so good. A big congratulations to the whole team!
One of the best experiences I've had in New York so far - cheap, hilarious, friendly, charming. Just pure comedy, played with heart.
The shows are funny, the seats are on an incline so you can easily see the stage from any seat, and the beer selection is okay.
At first it seemed funny, but got worse at time went on. Made fun of religion and was not my thing....
Such a great place to watch improv! I recommend arriving about 45 mins early as there's always a line outside and seating is first come, first served.
Horrendous- service was the worst I have ever experienced. Avoid at all costs.
Funny! Loved the blond, tall, thin, Male performer who wears glasses. He truly made me laugh out loud
Wish I knew his name!
My favorite place to watch comedy in the whole world!
First time at UCB and I will absolutely be back. I recently became a fan of Improv and Podcasting and the UCB seems to be the Mecca for alt comedy talent. I look forward to my next visit!
We for 8 show it was only $7 per person. The place is not fancy but okay and clean. You could tell guys taking care of that place. They sale beer and wine before you seat down. I thought it was pretty cool.
The show was great (I went to a Saturday night improv show). The seats are a bit uncomfortable if you're on the larger side.
Went and saw the Improv Show. Everyone was hilarious, and we had a great time! Theater was spacious, but still felt intimate enough to really enjoy the show. Definitely coming back next time I'm in New York!
What a great job this troop did. Really enjoyed the evening.
Great sketches & nice upgrade on the theater space!
Real New York improv comedy basically every day and every night. At reasonable price.
With how cheap the tickets are, and how funny the shows are, it's the most bang for your buck venue in the city
Terrific Theatre, great comedy, nice atmosphere.
I went solo to the 11 show. About my tickets a couple hours before. It appears to sell out fairly often. Thankfully I prepaid the tickets.
They were really rude about exchanging a ticket (even though it was their fault I had to exchange). Zero appreciation of fans in terms of customer service.
We saw Whiplash, their Monday night show. We loved it!!
Huuuge lines outside, horrible & rude attitude of staff and poor acts even for improv. Do not recommend. Save yourself the hassle, there are a bunch of clubs in the area that are way better. Will never be back.
Went to an improv show and it was hilarious. Very good performers and fun crowd. Beer selection was decent and reasonably priced. Seats were a little uncomfortable and might need replacement.
Great shows for great prices. You really can't go wrong with any of the shows here. Just make sure to line up early to get the best seats.
I had the pleasure of visiting Upright Citizens Brigade for Herald night. Three improv troups came out to perform half hour shows. While some bits dragged on, the show was overall exciting, engaging, and hilarious. I will absolutely be going again.
The UCB is always a treat. I always get a laugh or 12 every time I go. I miss the intimacy of the old theatre in Chelsea, but the new one is fancy & comfy.
Well worth every penny, if you are just visiting or living here, the UCB is worth your time & effort to see!
We saw Rumpleteaser. Basically they improv an hour long musical right in front of you based off the audience suggestions. The prompt is the only audience participation (except for laughing of course) but it was so funny!!!! They were fabulous and my group has talked about this show since we saw it in March. Not generally child appropriate. I would say the vibe is mature teen at least.
This place is great for funnies every day of the week. From the famous to the new faces, you're going to laugh and want to either come back, learn how to do it too (through their school), or both.
Their shows are a lot of fun with so much interaction between the actors and the audience. If you re feeling brave, raise your hand and they ll make skits about whatever you tell them about your life. For drinks, beer is crazy cheap. Would make for a fun date or group activity.
I love improv theater! UCB is one of the best. A lot of the alums are SNL actors so you know they are doing something right. I hear that shows are a hit or miss but every show I have been to has been hilarious. They are so clever. Seats are not so comfortable but so what. The price is so cheap and this is a New York experience you will never forget.
Cheap entertainment. Little bit warm in the theatre but the show was good improv. Cast seemed to enjoy their craft and looking for ways to jump in and participate often. We went to the one in Hell's Kitchen. Nice little bar with soda, beer and wine for reasonable price
The show that we saw was great, but they made us queue outside in the cold before the show. I'm not sure what that was about, but they need to figure out an alternative! There was plenty of space in the lobby, we just weren't allowed in, even after purchasing drinks at the bar!
Their improv night had me literally on the floor laughing. If you don't have a ticket there's a good chance you can make it if you wait in the standby line but no promises.
The comedians were entertaining, but there was not enough seating. Folks were sitting on the steps and standing in the back. Probably because of over sold tickets and some of the seating was broken. Overall, I would've enjoyed it a lot more if those things were not a factor.
Oof, painful to watch. They kept forgetting their bits, ran on way too long in each segment and were generally not funny. I had high hopes but it's pretty rare walking out of any show and not at the very least neutral. Maybe it was an off night based on the reviews but not my cup of Canadian tea.
A staple of the NYC comedy cluster, the brigade s venue is serviceable and worth a visit for improv.
I love Upright Citizens Brigade. I've been there twice now and both times have been so thrilled with the improv. Quick, smart, and accessible. There are of course things I'd change (their outdoor line can get a bit ridiculous), but it's just such a great place. Plus they have free shows on Sunday nights. Hard to beat that!
Went for dirty laundry on a Monday night. This was a unique show and great way to make your mondays much better if you haven't had a good day.
Great bamg for buck for a show. Low key and fun. Cheap drinks. Fun date activity.
i love ucb! amazing and cheap shows. my favorite to go to is asssscat 3000 on sunday nights - the later show is free if you get tickets the day of. always a fun time!
Hilarious, irreverent and iconic. Plus great cheap beer. Cash only.
A great NY experience every time. Cheap tickets, easy to get to, always a good time. Get there early if you want seats otherwise you ll be sitting on the stairs or the side stage.
You can enjoy free improv shows on sunday! The best in town!
This place never fails to make me laugh. I love going here to see stand up or improv.
Fun place, funny shows. Can be hit or miss depending on the group or the audience, but if you go in with an open mind and a willingness to laugh then you re going to have a great time.
A very friendly place. Enjoyed the experience, but found the improv comedy relied a bit too much on local knowledge.
Great value for the entertainment!! Some of the best improv I've seen. Make sure you head to the right place as several locations exist throughout the city
Very athentic place. Lots of cheap and great shows. All 5-10 dollars.
Not very impressed. I'm spoiled by The Groundlings in Los Angeles. I found many of the sketch comedy performances at UCB Hells Kitchen to be less than committed and not very funny. Some of the actors regularly break the 4th wall and seem to be playing it safe. Others are quite talented and committed, but I expect excellence to be standard in NYC at an establishment with a reputation like UCB.
UCB is one of the best things about NYC, hands down. It is a must-visit for comedy-lovers of all stripes, but especially improv. The history of this institution is the story of modern comedy. So many talented people came from here, and it's impossible not to feel like you're seeing the future of comedy when you're in this small theater.
Watching improv is about being open, and letting actors play. If you can leave your preconceptions of comedy at the door, you will have an amazing experience every single time.
I can't say enough about UCB Chelsea.
Improv isn t always good, but I ve laughed really hard at some UCB shows.
Comfortable sits. Inexpensive. But you should be picky for which show you go to
Great performance, but the venue itself was a little old and it was on the warmer side.
Incredible show! My husband and I attended the Asssscat 3000 show and were laughing throughout. The style of the show showcases the actors' unique abilities in comedy and there's a guest appearance. They do have a bar with beer and wine and there's a brief intermission.
Saw the george Lucas comedy show here. Was silly and somewhat fun, but overall, it was just ok. The cheating Harold show was very entertaining though. I recommend this theatre, but read reviews on the individual shows before you book to choose the one that will best suit your group.
Depending on what day you come you might see a wide range of comedians. Lines are typically super long, but well worth it. If you love improv you'll have a blast here. Very talented lineup!
Pretty damn funny, even when you can't find an open seat. Get in line early!
absolutely hysterical and so much fun. easily the best 5 bucks i've ever spent
We had such a great time here. Sad we came a bit late and didn't have seats. We stood in the back. There seemed to be a lot of regulars or workers sitting. We will definitely go back.
