It is a distillery about 20 minutes by car from Inverness. There is a tour and you can explore the historical facilities. How to make the process and fermentation, how to make barrels were very helpful. You can enjoy it without knowing anything.

Fiona our guide was amazing, funny, professional and just an all around perfect presenter! Tomatin does a very nice tour with many standard distillery content and much unique! For example, this distillery is privately owned and by a Japanese corporation; some employees with decades of relationship longevity. The quality is inherent here. You will be stimulated and entertained by the lovely staff and down to earth facility, which is quite professional and of high capacity. In complete honesty, top shelf whisky and the best distillery tour I have experienced.

STEM TIP: There is evidence that wolves periodically roam on long journeys. For example, each spring or perhaps other change in the season, taking long 100 mile loop journeys. Along the way, marking the trail with their scent. Further evidence indicates a wolf can detect decades old scent, and therefore past paths taken for many years later. May the spirit of Cu Bocan live on forever and find many paths!!

Cheers! Thank you!

Myself and my husband loves the tour, great fun, informative and friendly. Would go back again to to do o e of the more expensive tours. My husband loves it especially the samples at the end. We were there during the quiet season when there is no actual production going on, think we'll time a future visit for when they are busy.

Great tour of the Tomatin distillery as part of our Haggis Tour. We had a friendly tour guide who had a great amount of knowledge about the process and history of the distillery. We were also able to try some of the whiskeys as then end.

Great tour! We hadn't heard of this distillery until we stopped into Drumnadrochit the night before. It was only a slight detour from our path to Dufftown so we decided to stop. Best idea ever.

Our tour guide Barbara was very knowledgeable and great. She must have worked there for a long time and knew lots of history about the distillery and the whisky making process.

We've been in several distillery tours in the Highlands, and this was the best by far. We even got to walk inside a mash tun!

For a more hands on experience than other distilleries, take the side trip off the motorway to this great distillery. They're whisky is pretty good too.

Superb place. Interesting visit. Excellent welcome and exquisite whiskey. Ladies this is the sweetest whiskey you can ever find. Excellent product and a visit to do in this human-sized distillery with an offbeat spirit.

Good way to spend a couple of hours. Distillery is quite easy to get to and the tour is well run with guides who really know their stuff.

Visitor centre looks very new and they have a large range of items to buy. Tour we went on lasted for 75 mins and covered the entire whisky process. There were about 10 on the tour which was a good number.

We enjoyed a nice visit around the distillery in early April. Tomatin was a bit different in that we were taken into the cooperage and saw barrels actually being repaired. There was also quite a bit of time spent in the warehouses (filling and storage) but Tomatin has so much warehousing space it's not surprising. Kirsty, our tour guide was enthusiastic and interesting. At the end of the standard tour you get to taste Legacy, 12 year old, and a Cu Bocan (a lightly peated version). We also tried a port finish and an 18 year old. The port finish was the nicest of the bunch, being 14 years old and somewhat sweeter but there are better whiskies in my opinion - Aberlour or Glenmorangie have nicer sweet finishes and a lot more body, even the chill filtered standard drinks. So, a nice tour but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy the whisky. Parking is straightforward and free, although a little tight in a big vehicle.

About The Tomatin Distillery Co Ltd

The Tomatin Distillery Co Ltd is a renowned Scottish whisky distillery located in the heart of the Highlands. Established in 1897, it has been producing some of the finest single malt Scotch whiskies for over a century. The distillery is situated on the eastern edge of the Monadhliath Mountains and draws its water from the Alt-na-Frith burn, which runs through its grounds.

Tomatin's collection of multi-award winning highland whisky is known for its exceptional quality and unique taste. The distillery produces a range of whiskies that cater to different tastes and preferences, from light and fruity to rich and complex.

One of Tomatin's most popular products is their 12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky. This whisky has won numerous awards over the years, including gold medals at both the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) and San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). It has also received high praise from critics for its smoothness, complexity, and balance.

Another standout product from Tomatin is their Cu Bocan range of whiskies. These peated single malts are named after a mythical Highland hellhound that was said to haunt the village of Tomatin many years ago. The Cu Bocan range includes three expressions: standard edition, limited edition, and rare edition. Each expression offers a unique flavor profile that combines smoky notes with fruity undertones.

In addition to their core range of whiskies, Tomatin also produces special editions that are released periodically throughout the year. These limited-edition bottlings are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike due to their rarity and unique flavor profiles.

Tomatin's commitment to quality extends beyond just their products; they also prioritize sustainability in all aspects of their operations. The distillery uses renewable energy sources such as hydroelectric power generated by nearby dams to power its production processes. They also recycle waste materials wherever possible to minimize their environmental impact.

Overall, The Tomatin Distillery Co Ltd stands out as one of Scotland's premier whisky producers thanks to its dedication to quality craftsmanship combined with sustainable practices. Whether you're an experienced connoisseur or new to Scotch whisky tasting altogether, there's something for everyone in this exceptional collection."
