A nice zoo but not great. The St. Louis Zoo is much better and Free.
Veteran discounts!!!!! Enough said...any place that honors vets is worth the trip...however the zoo was great. Clean and fun for the whole family. Remember to pack your own food, unless you want expensive carnival food.
Much larger than expected with aquarium inside. 2 parking/entrance areas. Large variety of animals. Zoo's make me sad to see them in pens but I understand why. If you don't have kids then visit during off season times or days or get there the moment they open. Volume of human noise increases dramatically as children arrive.
We loved the polar bear! He had some ice blocks and he was playing in the water right in front of the window.
Such a great zoo and such a peaceful place to enjoy.
Christmas lights at the zoo are awesome as always. Great time to take the kids. They have a great Santa clause on some of the nights.
Best Zoo. Kids zone is perfect place. Set up is great: play grounds, food areas, inside pavilions and outside. Coming for ten years regularly from Michigan
The Toledo Zoo only gets better and better. It is a great place to take the family or just to spend the day on your own. The Lights Before Christmas is something no one should miss! It could go on year round and still have a huge turnout!
Love the Toledo Zoo very clean animals r very active love going there
The animals! Not everything was open, but it wasn't 80 degrees outside either!
So worth the trip down there..Go early they close at 9pm ...Dont wait until dark you'll miss stuff..lol
Great place for families. Though I recommend packing a lunch as the food is a bit expensive.
Had a blast at the trick or treat trail.... will be back
I was there for a wedding. Good venue, no complaints. We had to pass by the wolves on our way to the building, I found it oddly humorous that they legit stalked a small child in front of us.
Amazing place out crowded. But it's understandable.
Been twice, and it rained both times, but still had a great time, there's a lot of inside viewing for bad weather
I think the time of visit was bad near closing they have demonstrations earlier in the day but if you go late . You will some. Animals but don't expect much. Still fun with family seeing God's creation..
It's a great place to recall childhood memories and I wish to pass them down to my son. Great place to enjoy life.
Very clean. The animals are all pretty chill except for the gorillas something's up with them, one tried to fight me and I was just standing there.
The Toledo Zoo is a great place to take the kids. They love the aquarium and splash pad. I wish they had better food options. This is the one area where they aren t up to par with their Detroit counterpart.
Honestly one of the best zoos in America. If you live within a few hours of this zoo please visit as it will not disappoint. Best elephant and hippo viewing areas and the animals seem generally happy. Oh and make sure you get to feed the giraffes!
One of the best zoos in the country, paid parking, good restaurants, wonderful exhibits. Playground for kids and picnic area.
New Aquarium is horrid. I go back and visit family and the only reason I would go to the zoo is for the Aquarium, the new one is the worst thing ever. I hate the forced path I have to take and the cramped quarters. The old one was so open and fun. I probably won't go back to zoo again because of this reason.
Great time and experience esspecially for a colder day
Best Zoo anywhere! It is clean. The exhibits are great. Fun for the whole family. The Lights are spectacular.
Lines where long didn't get to see all the animals because of waiting in line
We went last week of March. The weather was cool so we really appreciated the indoor viewing areas. I have to say that the animals were very active which was fun. We were frustrated trying to navigate the zoo. I feel they could do a better job of matching the exhibit numbers on the map with the actual exhibit. I realize now that we missed a couple exhibits. The other thing I feel could be improved is listing online what is open and what is not. I did the research before I went and it appeared that everything would be available. The Penguin exhibit was closed as were: Safari railway, zip line, conservatory, carousel, animal holding. Overall, we really did have a nice time and got our money worth.
Every visit is a different experience and my kids love it. The animals are grouped close together so you don't walk far before being re-engaged. Plenty of kids activities between the carousel, train, kids neighborhood, and outdoor play area. We've never done the high adventure course but it looks amazing.
All the rides were closed, they had construction going on and alot of exhibits were closed. Should have been half price.
They should post which animal exhibites are closed that day so you dont waste your money.. Totally disappointed in how much we paid and how little we got to see.
Lots of interesting and interactive areas, including an astonishing aquarium and wonderful kid zone.
The Toledo Zoo should be on your list as one of the top places to visit in the entire Midwest! It is one of the most customer friendly attractions you will find. The reopened tunnel is another highlight. Don't miss your chance to check out this treat and become a member!
My family is so lucky to have one of the best zoos in the country close to home.
We went for the lights at the Zoo and just loved it. Wish it wasn't so cold, but nothing the Zoo can do about that! They've added more light shows to music and a 3D projected show since I'd last been, and the additions were great. As always, I do wish more animals could be seen, but overall the experience was great.
Loved almost everything, including getting to watch the penguins being fed. Our only issue was the playground being closed. The kids were extremely upset by it.
Under constuction...lack of animals...staff didnt engage activity with animals at all.
Nice zoo, but emphasis is shifting to profitability. We recently took the kids and grand kids to Lights Before Christmas and after being lectured about not having my wife's member ID, we toured the zoo. Several exhibits were not open including the elephants, polar bears, apes, rhinos, hippos, museum, bird house, and tigers. Ice rides for $4 to $8 were available though. I didn't see the usual model train and reindeer exhibits. I hope this organization returns to what it does best, displays animals that kids want to view. After being a member for over 25 years it maybe a time to find another Zoo.
Sure a well maintained facility, always a nice time.
Zoo was fun but if you have a membership make sure everyone has a picture I'd
Bring your own pop $350 a bottle
If you're bringing kids remember they have a splash pad
There always seems to be a lot of exhibits under various states of renovation, but what's open is generally nice.
I wish the animals had more space inside their enclosures, it seemed a little "packed in" especially for some of the birds
My family and I have been members of the Toledo Zoo for years, and for good reason. Every time we visit, we have a blast, from watching the polar bears splash around in the pool, to watching Lucas the elephant play with enrichment, to seeing all the different birds in the aviary and reptiles in the reptile house. I would highly recommend this zoo to any animal lover.
The polar bear exhibit is extremely small, the same goes for the tigers, lions, snow leopard, and the poor elephants. Fun fact, the Toledo zoo uses punishment by application on the elephants by using a bull hook to train them, this resulted in an elephant trainer being injured in 2010 at the Toledo zoo. The cruel training methods used on the elephants are barbaric and I would give the Toledo zoo no stars if I could.
It is been a long time since I've last visit this zoo. I've recommend everyone visiting this best place.
Always a great time! Lights were beautiful and new aquarium is amazing!
Went after a long time, they opened up and taking extra precautions with covid. Animals were fun to look at but you feel guilty paying money to see caged animals who are missing there environment but want your kids to see animals in real life. Vs what they see on TV and to teach them to respect animals and teach them to treat animals with respect and care but then you show them being locked up in cages..........but the place is clean, employees are amazing help and animal cages are kept clean.
Awesome place and enjoy every time I go like it's the first time
Awesome zoo!! So much to see. Toledo is blessed to have this in our community!
I always love the lights at the zoo, doesn't matter if there is snow on the ground or not!
Great zoo. Alot of the animals are out and active. Went for the polar bears and they were playful and looked in good health. All of the animals look well taken care of and the grounds generally look clean and well maintained.
It's such a fun place with friends. I love my membership (worth it) just to get outdoors and walk some. Plus, the Lights Before Christmas is a Toledo tradition.
Exhibits provided enough variety to keep one's interest. Free entry for veterans and no charge for parking. As it is a walking tour, could use a few more benches to sit.
Great Zoo. Plenty to see. Better than the one to the north.
Love the zoo! Amazing program for teens, Zoo Teen! Was blessed to be part of the recognition of volunteers. My granddaughter Kaitlyn is a proud member and loves it! Bill thank you being their leader, you have a great program
Always a great experience and wonderful activities for children.
The zoo is pretty big we got there when construction was taking place so we misses out on a couple parts of the zoo like th science museum but I'm willing to definetly go back when they're done. Favorite part was the polar bears, seals, and the aquarium!
The animals are awesome! We were up close and personal with the polar bears.
