Nice pub, right on the river and you can moor outside.
Lovely atmosphere with great views alongside the river. Lunch was great. Will surely come back next time I'm in the region.
Always a nice place to eat and great atmosphere. Looking forward to seeing it after the refurbishment is completed in March 2019
Best cup of tea I have had for years and my husband was happy with his beer. Food and furnishing seem to have been upgraded since we last visited here some years ago. Very good menu.... Food looked delicious... Have to go back for more.
Great location, especially when arriving by water. Food has always been good. Choice of a couple of ales, though only average quality, not quite spot on. Understandably, suffers from over popularity and a little soulless.
It's OK. The location is stunning, but they pipe pop music into the garden which I could do without. Menu is pretentious food is good without being top class, and it's quite lively. Not a patch on the beehive, but then it's far cheaper too.
Very good lunches Sunday roasts to be recommended, the puddings are especially tasty not just looking good in our opinion better than the Warren.
Wheelchair access good with some tables that can be sat at easily and helpful staff
Tranquil and relaxed experience overlooking the Thames
I've never left a review before but I was just so irritated with the service and food quality of this pub. Service was so very slow. We waited an hour after our mains for dessert to be given to us and then another half an hour to get and pay for the bill. It's shouldn't take over 3 hours to have a meal. It would be different if we had been a big party but there was only 2 of us. We both ordered the roast lamb it was so tough and chewy. The desserts were enjoyable. But should not have taken an hour. At least warn people that the wait can be this long. Then we would have just declined having them. Just came away feeling very irritated. I wouldn't recommend this pub, and reading some other reviews here I feel justified on saying this.
Family friendly with good food. Had a couple of kayaks with us which we were able to Moore right up to the venue. Highly recommended
Great location, just takes forever to get served. Staff not the quickest
Lovly food, starter was great , ham & eggs was nice lovly sitting by the fire looking out at the river , nice Christmas atmosphere
Great food, views and service. Set in a stunning location overlooking the river.
Great pit stop by canoe and observed top rules for social distancing and alcohol everywhere, well done!
This is a large pub directly adjacent to the river Thames. There's plenty of parking. We just had a drink outside which has a big terrace and tables on the grass overlooking the river. It's very pretty. The pub are covid aware with hand sanitizer and table service. The village of wargrave is very nice but limited parking.
Visited earlier this week and had a lovely time. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was fantastic. Felt very comfortable and safe with all the COVID precautions they have taken and my experience was very smooth overall.
Great pub, food with views of Thames, good parking, access by public transport.
To fussy menu for us...noisy dining area
..seats very uncomfortable.
Good food, attentive staff, fine views of the river.
Absolutely love this place but you may want to think about prebooking if going on a weekend evening as I'm clearly not the only one!
It's so nice looking out onto the river. Even though it's usually busy the water gives the place a lovely serene feeling.
Inside it's clean and well decorated, and the staff are really friendly.
There is a good variety of drinks to choose from, and the food is so delicious. I'd eat here daily if I could!
I'm actually surprised to see a low rating, I thoroughly enjoyed both times I've been here. It's clean, smart and a large varied menu. We canoed down from Henley and it was a great day. Staff were at the excellent and would go back.
This place could, and should, be lovely but sadly isn't. We visited twice over a warm summer weekend, as we drifted past on our canoe. The pub is a goldmine, being sat on the river next to posh Henley and styling itself as a gastropub. This More
We live very local and never use this pub due to bad experience in the past. We thought we'd give it a go today in the hope it has improved, sad to say that it hadn't! There were only 8 tables of diners so not busy at all. The service was terrible! One member of bar staff and one waitress who was running around like a headless chicken! Waited ages for our meal to arrive during that time my husband had to go to the bar to get another drink as no one had been to our table, the bar attendant said she would bring it to the table, 10 minutes later it had arrived, could have done with it whilst eating a dry pizza! Chocolate brownie was not a brownie more like stodgy chocolate cake! We are all encouraged to support our local businesses which I am in favour with but this is somewhere that we won't be going back to! Only given it 2 stars purely for the location.
Great atmosphere, wonderful view over the river, lovely food
Went here for a Sunday roast food was amazing and service was excellent. Lovely location with view of the river. Would highly recommend it and will definitely be going back.
Would have given 5 stars if the lawn by the river was clean of dog ends .
Looks a real dump for such a lovely located pub.
Really nice place, food excellent but once again another place that doesn't have the right amount of staff so half an hour to get drinks and nearly an hour for food,, may just have been a bad day, would go back
Poor Service, sat for 20 minutes. No Menu, nothing. So gave up and left.
Visited for a summer evening drink and a meal and was pleasantly surprised with everything. Decent food, reasonable selection of wine, I didn't see any real ales but nice to have an Estrella. Food arrived in a reasonable time frame. Agreed it probably needs a little TLC but the location is fab and there was lots of space. Prices have a riverside premium feel to them too!
Fabulous food. Full vegan menu. Lovely staff. Will be back.
Beautiful location with decent food. Can be busy and the lack of table service detracts from the experience.
Visited yesterday the service was so bad staff rude and unhelpful had to wait so long to get a drink it was a real issue for staff. Really bad really got the feeling they do not want to open I surport businesses locally avoid this place at all costs not sure why I did not just walk out shame think this rudeness will cost them in customers as I am a regular spent a lot of money here will not return
Should be a great pub situated on the river. Sadly the food, some decor and the ambience let it down.
Food was not great. Ordered Squid for starters which was nice but also ordered olives which were dry and not in a marinade. Did not eat them and told the waitress who wasn't interesred. Pollo chicken pizza was undercooked in the centre and not much topping and the fish and chips, while the fish was good the chips were soggy with fat and not crispy with a strong taste of oil. Nice venue but will not be eating here again
Beautiful inn, stunning location, great service & delicious food. Highly recommended.
Beatiful place and even beter service!! Super food and atmosphere!! Be sure to visit
In this small village full of history, called Wargrave, people are open, sincere and of undisguised benevolence, and the restaurants in its small center are of special charm, you can meet with this occasion a true living history, with local traditions and a full love of life. Also delighted by these wonderful places, combined with the modern day, because in these areas, the airlines are at home, the planes take off every half hour, so another small part of heaven. Whoever has time, and allows himself, does not regret the short trip up there
Nice food nice space but awful personnel. Dirty tables wait a long time to be cleaned and more...
Gorgeous summer seating by a calm bend in the river. Moorings and a ramp mean you can sail straight up and spend a pleasant afternoon watching the world go by. Good selection of drinks, and the food menu looks extensive and reasonable.
The views sitting outside the pub were beautiful, lovely view from an apex bend on the River Thames make this a lovely location (possibly the best pub views I have come across in the area). Food however was a let down. Two out of the four meals left a lot to be desired, (one was really inediable) the other two were ok but considering the price I would have expected more. In summary would definitely sit outside and enjoy a few beers but avoid the food. I am not sure I will be back though.
Great location proximate to and overlooking river. Nice atmosphere. Excellent food and children's menu quality above par. Recommend.
Not good to long to wait for a drink some staff helpful and friendly seems a.lot of staff not doing a lot
Nice environment. Loved the food. My fish was amazing, salad, salmon tacos, pizza, scallops all were really good. Now the service not as good... very slow, incorrect order and we had to keep asking for our drinks, they never brought us the water for the kids.
Great food and service, very nice location in Wargrave
Food was good a bit dry and had to ask for more gravy, but overall it was good only other negative was the waiting staff weren't very helpful and forgot things like our cutlery but on a very positive note River was fantastic nothing was too much trouble for him and he sorted things out straight away. Would have given 3 stars but River saved it so gave 4 due to his customer service
I have never left a review for any venue before but felt I needed to what a disappointed after our visit here ..I know we were a large group but the restaurant was nowhere near full ..the starter was good but main meal was diabolical turkey was like cardboard i couldnt eat it and I felt my meal had been plated up and just heated before serving ..the veg was tasteless and lacked colour and taste ( Brussels, onion , something Orange!!) .. another friend had the burger it was so over cooked he only managed half of it before giving up and he left the onion rings because they were so fatty and 2 friends that had the Salmon Wellington left that too .. the waitress was informed however no replacements were offered .. puds were ok but nothing to write home about and the cheese board from what others have said was totally uninspiring .the grapes were ok on it !! If I can be constructive I would say employ a chef that's pationate to put out food on every plate that he's proud of not what he thinks he can get away with ..
Lovely food with a great atmosphere and staff. Great views of the river as well!
Decent enough food with imaginative variations on the staples, such as chicken and chorizo pie, at a not unreasonable price for a riverside pub. Good enough choice of well kept beer and cider. Polite and friendly staff.
Only real gripe was that we arrived by boat and although they have a long river frontage, the mooring is very badly maintained and it took us a long time to actually find a safe area to tie up. They also don't allow overnight mooring, so after eating we had to leave and motor in the dark for nearly an hour to find a safe night mooring.
Sunday roasts were delicious and decent portions. Very friendly staff and felt their Covid care was just right to feel safe and relax to enjoy ourselves
Great food, pleasant athmosfere and fantastic location.
Whilst the Pub had good decor, and ambience. No TV's which is a bonus good seating inside and outside for the warmer days....if they come. The Food was completely different, the plate were cold and so was the food. Order a Pizza for Children it came cold and almost raw, we also had Asparagus which was cold on a cold plate, yet it was described as chargrilled.....
Price was a little more that what you would pay, for a similar meal elsewhere....
Would I eat there again.....not sure, I certainly would not have what had last time.
Recomend it for a drink only.....Not for Food.
Beer well kept. Food tasty. Service quite slow with the excuse of being busy. It was a sunny Saturday at a pub on the Thames, if not busy then they world be going out of business.
Good food good service looking forward to our return
Delightful setting with less than delightful food. My husband and I have been here a few times and while the service has always been slow, the food was pretty good. Until now. We went for a Sunday lunch. I ordered roast beef. Should be a pretty safe option, but unfortunately, it: was served in a bowl, consisted of just one slice of beef, covered in sickly sweet gravy, a huge dollop on horseradish was plonked on the top. The roast potatoes were mushy and the bowl of veg really looked like it had been sat under a heat lamp for far too long. The yorkshire pud was good though. And it wasn't cheap either! Such a shame.
I couldn't help notice that there were around four other tables with similar complaints and hearing lots of "very sorry" from the waiting staff and restaurant manager (at least I'm assuming that's who he was).
That was the last straw I'm afraid. We won't be going back.
Lovely food, really good service, attentive and fast, lovely scenery sitting outside by the river, watching people arrive on their boats... oh how the other half live!
We could not have asked for more for our Sunday lunch from the reception to the food and service! The only shame was that is was way too hot to be outside on the terrace but the inside was actually very pleasant and covid safe! We will be back!
Can be great location, food was hit and miss but has been very good for the last few visits. On a summer day can be overrun. Well worth a visit for Riverside setting not overly expensive.
Good place to sit and have a drink by the river. Food very good . Nice to sit outside on the decking in the sun and watch boats go by
Inside very smart .
Great location. Perfect amount on the plate for a roast. Great location on the river. Gents loos need some tlc.
Food was good, place nice and clean with a warm feeling and waiters polite and friendly.
Enjoyed a scrumptious 3 course meal from their Festive menu. Received a warm welcome and exceptional service. Definitely will be back!
Always great to be back, food is fresh and delicious. Excellent service from the hardworking Crina. Keep up the good work!
My friend and I were looking for a nice place on the river to have lunch . I used Google to find this pub and when we arrived we were very happy, it looks lovely. There is a large patio right on the river with moorings if you want to arrive by boat.
We went inside, it's a large pub/restaurant, nicely decorated and with a good feel. They seated us at a lovely table overlooking the river. It was all down hill from there with a few exceptions.
I chose the pate and the lobster and crab fish cakes, my friend ordered the Gammon, egg and chips followed by the BlackBerry and apple crumble with custard.
Very helpful and pleasant staff...food good too for a Sunday roast
The food was slightly pricey but was very tasty. It was quite empty when we went 19:00 Sunday and we didn't have to wait.
Lovely meal. This place has certainly ramped up their cuisine. Allowed us to swap seats to thewi dow
Position on the river is beautiful, the major refit has been done superbly, but my food today was not at all enjoyable! What could possibly go wrong with fish and chips? The chips looked and tasted as though they d been hanging around for a while then dumped in some very old hot fat, the very small piece of fish appeared to have been rapidly microwaved and then battered and fried - it was burning hot in the middle, and had a very odd taste. Very disappointing.
Best gluten free apple crumble in the world. Served with dairy free custard
