Rachel Teare Review of The St. George and Dragon
Delightful setting with less than delightful food....
Delightful setting with less than delightful food. My husband and I have been here a few times and while the service has always been slow, the food was pretty good. Until now. We went for a Sunday lunch. I ordered roast beef. Should be a pretty safe option, but unfortunately, it: was served in a bowl, consisted of just one slice of beef, covered in sickly sweet gravy, a huge dollop on horseradish was plonked on the top. The roast potatoes were mushy and the bowl of veg really looked like it had been sat under a heat lamp for far too long. The yorkshire pud was good though. And it wasn't cheap either! Such a shame.
I couldn't help notice that there were around four other tables with similar complaints and hearing lots of "very sorry" from the waiting staff and restaurant manager (at least I'm assuming that's who he was).
That was the last straw I'm afraid. We won't be going back.
