Started off amazing, the ambiance, the serenity, the pool, the jacuzzi, the beach , the lobby with a rainforest like scenery; unfortunately we went out and came back around 2am to find my room locked; looked like my friend had the same issues and they put him up in a different room( he had sent a text around 12am that I hadn't seen ) . I tried calling him and he didn't pick up, so I went to the lobby; I thought they were putting me up in a different room instead without my knowing, they called his wire phone at 3in the morning and woke him up and asked me to let me in. When we mentioned in the morning that it was a big inconvenience; they "generously" offered free parking. Obviously, none of us had a good night sleep and asked for a refund.. perhaps this is a rare occurrence and wouldn't judge the hotel by it but I was personally disappointed by the service.

We almost stayed here but read the reviews about the cleanliness issues with the rooms and decided not to risk it. After checking the place out in person, I'm glad we didn't! What a dump!

We did come for the luau dinner and I regret that for sure. Parking lot was overstuffed, valet was full, but they kept letting cars in anyways. Parking lot has no elevators and the stairs were slippery due to water and bad engineering for drainage. The luaua was poorly planned, seating was clearly all about cramming as many suckers into a row as possible, the drinks were watered down, and the staff were rude. And the food was garbage so what exactly did I pay $56 for in the first place? A cheap imitation of a 3 star hotel dinner show in actual Hawaii??

And if you are reading reviews, you should notice that every time somebody posts a bad review, somebody from the hotel replies with the the same canned response. Avoid this place like the plague; these people don't understand the concept of hospitality.

I had the pleasure of spending a day at The Catamaran Spa courtesy of my children on April 8. I was extremely impressed with this lovely spa which is located right in my back door here in San Diego on lovely Mission Bay.

The tropical setting, the attentive staff, wonderful spa services by Shannon was followed by a delicious lunch at their on site restaurant Oceana. Both Richard and Diana were so thoughtful and attentive as I was challenged with a walking cast and cane.

I would highly recommend this resort/spa to all visiting San Diego. The local neighbors are in for a truly wonderful experience so close to home!

Beautiful place for Sunday Champagne Brunch. It is next to the bay with beautiful views. This brunch is a bit pricey but worth it. It includes crab legs, sushi, oysters, shrimp, all types of organic fruit, desserts and all you can drink mimosas! And if that isn't enough, you still get to choose a main entree. It's worth every cent but be sure to make reservations because otherwise you might have to wait for hours.

Although, having stayed in the tower, it seems that the entirety of of the rooms from this resort are a bit dated...they make up for it with wonderful staff, an awesome restaurant and food, fun bar, beautiful views and location on the beach. Constantly working on improvements, this place will soon look brand new. Would like to come back in the future.

EXCELLENT SERVICE! The staff is extremely helpful and very friendly. My complaint comes from the fact that the room and hotel itself wasn't very nice. They upgraded us to a room with a patio and a view which made the stay much better. However, some sort of maintenance was going on WAY too early and woke us up. Plus, no A/C. Not a big deal if you don't mind leaving the patio door open but I don't remember there being a screen and mosquitos are a thing out there. I may suggest paying a little less and staying inland. The hotel does offer some cool activities like the Bahia boat, though. We didn't get to try that but it could have been really nice. I could stay here again. If money isn't an issue, stay here. It's not 4-star like it is listed, but it's a cool place.

Thanksgiving dinner was very yummy, and even though the portions were reasonable, we still took some home. The bay view from our table was as good as San Diego gets. Service was good. I'd do this again.

The hotel had very pretty grounds and the location was amazing, located right on the bay with the ocean across the street. Our room had a balcony overlooking the bay which was delightful. Also, the hotel was within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. The room seemed a little dated and the bathroom was clean but there was mold in the grout. My main complaint were the additional fees that came along with booking this hotel. There was a $28 per day resort fee and on top of that we had to pay $33 per night to park our car in the lot. Over all it was a nice place to stay but maybe better suited for couples or families that would utilize more of the facility and weren t as inclined to go out exploring. For me this wasn t worth the money.

Assisted a 3-day conference at this hotel. Everything was absolutely on point. The concierge helped me with renting a car quickly and economically, front desk always said hi and goodnight, the location is perfect, and the restaurant was consistent.

Try the taco shop next door, or one of the many roof-top breweries within walking distance.

Is overpriced, pretty old, I am staying at the 14 floor. The view is worth it, but don't expect luxury because you will just get retro style. If you want room service, you have to call them. The good things about it, location location, Mission beach is super close, restaurants all around, great view, great staff, great for kids and dogs! Family oriented, comfortable beds, clean, entertaining for the whole family!

This hotel has an excellent location on Mission Bay, and is a short distance from the ocean beaches. The bay water is very calm, making this an ideal place to allow small children to play. This part of the bay is also excellent for adults wanting to try paddle sports. The beach has fine white sand that is kept in spotless condition, and a paved bike path. Most of the rooms have wonderful views. The property is in renovated condition, has solid management in place, and a favorable reputation locally. The restaurant and outdoor dining areas are very nice. There is on site parking and additional on street parking available in the area. The on street parking becomes challenging to find during peak use hours like Saturday morning. Also, please note that a lot of college aged people live in this area (referred to as Pacific Beach) and the bars along Garnet and Grand can get a little wild on weekends. These streets are far enough away from the hotel that guests should not be bothered.

We traveled to San Diego in Mid April and had a wonderful stay at The Catamaran Resort Hotel. The staff was always very friendly and welcoming. They would help us anytime we asked. The only issue we had was one day our room didn't get cleaned until 4:30pm. We knew it had been a busy day for check-ins and that was the only issue we had the whole time. Overall the hotel was awesome. The pool was great and it filled up on Friday and Saturday but Sunday and Monday it was pretty easy to find a free set of chairs. We had a room on the 11th floor facing the pacific. You could see the ocean quite well from here and the surrounding area was beautiful. This does also overlook the parking lot and the pool but you can easily look past these at the beautiful view. The location was perfect. Really easy access to Mission Beach and some amazing restaurants. Everything was within walking distance and never had a hard time finding someplace to go. You have the option to use the bay beach area or walk a block across the road and have the ocean beach. We spent most the time at the pool but walked the beach multiple times a day. I would recommend the Hotel to anyone looking to spend some time at the beach. The area was the perfect spot for us.

This is my second visit to the Catamaran for a professional conference. Both experiences have been overwhelmingly positive. Staff are friendly and attentive. Accommodations are lovely. Food has been great. I would highly recommend this venue.

The property is beautiful. It almost feels like a tropical paradise. The lobby is cool but maybe a bit out dated, although if they wait a few more years it could come back into style. It's an awesome place to stay for a visit to San Diego

Great hotel in San Diego. The entrance is beautiful and lush with tropical plants a Koi pond with a fantastic waterfall. This place has been around for quite a while. So don't expect shining new rooms but they are clean and well kept. Service is great and the views are amazing. It is a great place to bring kids because of all the water activities. We don't have children anymore since they are all grown up. But good to keep this in mind.

Beautiful resort right on the bay. Great restaurant and the food was good. We celebrated my Grandma s 70th birthday and they made the entire experience special. I would definitely go back.

Attended a work event at the catamaran which was very nice and a lot of fun. Food was great, and it was a beautiful setting right on the bay front with access to the beach and aquatic equipment (peddleboats, kayaks, etc.). Lots of fun!

We had a great 4-night stay at the Catamaran. We had a bay-view suite with an incredible view and enjoyed playing in the bay every day with the kids! Due to COVID, there was no housekeeping, but the staff was super nice and brought us fresh towels and whatever else we needed every day (at our request). I wiped down our room with disinfecting wipes when we arrived and was happy to see that the room was SUPER clean! I don't think a speck of dirt came off on the wipes. The rooms are dated but comfortable. I would love to see them add child-proof locks to the doors, and drawers/storage space in the bathroom would be nice (for their next remodel).

I went out for the NYE bash and it was amazing. The appetizers were delicious. The drinks were included! There were multiple dance floors for whatever type of music you're into. And we even ended the night on the boat before the ball dropped. It's Wicked fun!

Such a nice place to hang out for the day, even if you are not staying as a hotel guest. They have lockers, plenty of towels/robes, lotions, etc. The staff is very attentive and it's not overly crowded.
