If you care about your health and public health do not stay here. It is like spring break for the older crowd, no masks, no care for others. The staff do not enforce NC state regulations and do not care for guests safety. Few people wear masks inside, and crowd the entrances and exists forcing you to get through groups of unmasked people.

We ate at the lifesaving station and had an excellent meal. The waitstaff was attentive and the food was excellent. It is one the year round restaurants open on the island and I recommend a trip here for brunch or dinner!

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and the rooms are very expensive. The views are great and our room itself was nice everything was clean. However the service was terrible. We were bringing our bags in I was well ahead of my husband so he couldn't grab the door but there were 2 male employees just standing there talking while I am struggling with our luggage to open the door. Also our room wasn't available until 10 minutes before check in time which they made the deadline but with it being our honeymoon it would have been nice to have the room a little earlier also no cute note or anything acknowledging our honeymoon would have been nice touch considering how much we spent to stay there. We were so frustrated with the lack of hospitality we changed our plans and headed to the mountains.

Don't read local guides reviews idk how they all gave 5 star reviews. We stayed at sanderling for our honeymoon. it's a decent place and clean but definitely not worth paying $600+ $80ish taxes and fees. Also they charge 100 dollars per hour for late checkout. Just rent a house if you're staying longer than 2-3 days. It has 2 pools and beach access but rooms are pretty small, no breakfast in bed or food service other restaurantsnear the hotel(you have yo go pick up the food). No room service which I understand due to covid. Beach view is obscured by pool bar and dunes. Honestly bay side was more beautiful during sunset, dont pay extra for beach side. Lots of kids and families. Summer house is just a hotel lobby. Overall it was just meh experience. I just expected more from a place that charges Ritz carlton rates.

Room was adequate. Hot tub was not working which was disappointing due to the unexpected cold weather. Spa was nice. Brittany did a wonderful mother-to-be massage! My friend who booked had to basically beg to schedule pedicures as she was told it was the off season and no one was scheduled to work (in mid April). Overall good experience but could have been better.

We have been to Corolla Light three times and each time we stop here for breakfast and or dinner. Sitting outside enjoying a nice meal and the weather is what it's all about. The staff here are friendly and accommodating, each meal has been a winner. If you're in OBX headed north, stop in for a bite to eat.

I only went for the massage at the spa. Everyone was friendly and the deep tissue massage was good, if not spectacular. They did let you utilize the indoor pool and steam room if you wanted. I thought at 125 it was a bit iverpriced for 50 min though.

The Outer Banks doesn t have many options for those wanting to stay at a resort instead of a home, but Sanderling is fantastic! I m a wedding photographer and photographed a wedding here in August. We decided to stay a few extra days to enjoy the resort, and it was so wonderful. Beautiful rooms and great restaurants right on site. The wedding was also fantastic and the staff is incredible!

Great place to stay! The room is very nice and doesn't feel like a typical hotel room. You'll need to be on the 3rd floor to see the ocean, we're on the 2nd and can't see over the dune. The restaurant at the resort has an amazing breakfast! There's also a huge selection at the spa for many different treatments. The Sanderling is a great spot to treat yourself and a loved one!

Not relaxing. Walls are paper thin, so be ready to get up at 6am with the children around. Every step and scream will be heard. I'm a very sound sleeper, and was disturbed. Also, the morning of our wedding anniversary we asked if we could have a 12pm check out instead of an 11am check out, and they said no. Check in is 4pm. I guess they need 5 hours to clean our room. Also, this is not a resort. It's a hotel. I've stayed at plenty of resorts, and this cannot compare. The only reason they got 2 stars is because the location is nice. My solution for you is to rent a home in Duck, and go to the paper canoe for your meals. This resturaunt is not part of the resort. It is one of the best meals I've ever had! Highly recommend.

The wedding venue was great! It was very intimate and the food was some of the best wedding food I've had! I wouldn't recommend the spa. The managers were very rude to the bride, and because someone was 10 minutes late, they refused to do her make up. I would expect better service given the price, especially for a week day wedding. Find a different hair salon but the wedding venue was lovely!

The resorts rooms are incredibly nice and spacious. The resort lobby has a fantastic bar with a bartender that makes one hell of a bloody mary. The resort is steps from the ocean and a quick drive from quaint downtown Duck.

I honestly had not paid attention to this resort before we stayed here for our honeymoon! The resort stretches a significant portion of the banks and had both ocean and sound side views. Our room was spacious with a king size bed, stand alone tub, shower, and expansive deck. We even had a fireplace and complimentary smore's kit! The resort is upscale and had everything. The decor and lobby music choices pair together well. The spa was relaxing and serene. There was a restaurant on the premise that had great food and provides room service. The staff was friendly and helpful. An outdoor fire pit, bar, and tranquility pool and hot tub where a nice touch. The resort does a great job of keeping the focus on the beach with seating and paths pointing in it's direction. The Sanderling was an excellent vacation spot!

This place is a great little retreat. We always go in the off season and it is so beautiful and relaxing. The people we have met there are so friendly and outgoing. The cleanliness of the rooms and the care of the staff are exceptional. We will definitely be returning.

Nice resort. Staff were very friendly. Only complaint I have is that the walls were very thin. My family and I were playing a card game and the neighbor came to complain we were making too much noise when we were having a normal conversation. We could also hear people very clearly in other rooms.

My wife and I have been staying at the Sanderling ...

My wife and I have been staying at the Sanderling for 4th of July week every year since 2002. This property has changed significantly over that time. It has also changed ownership and management plans and management styles a number of times. Early on the emphasis was on customer service in the old Southern style and enjoying the finer things of life in a beach resort experience. Way back then it was largely focused on the adult (i.e. older) customers. Now in 2019 it is really best for young families with children who are on the move from one activity to another. Today it seems the Sanderling is focused on young families and that is a good thing because it has changed with the times in response to requirements driven by the market dynamics. For the best family experience stay in the North wing. That area is set up well for young families and their children (pool is very convenient and the rooms are newly renovated). The South wing is more for the adult couples without children (pool experience is for the adults and it is closer to the Lifesaving Station restaurant). However in the South wing the rooms are much older and in significant need of renovation; for example the mattress in our room this last stay was so worn out it has lost any firmness, forming a U-shape when laid down upon. It is recommended to avoid the South wing. Hopefully it is next in the renovation line up. Even with all the changes it is still the best resort property on the OBX. Kimball's Kitchen is a good experience but this year doesn't measure up to past performances, but is still a very good fine dining/somewhat upscale experience. The Lifesaving Station restaurant is at best an average experience. Good for breakfast if you can tolerate the slow service but otherwise not worth what it costs for other meals. In summary, the property no longer meets our expectations and we are moving on forever to a place up north for a new experience. However we will be back to Kimball's Kitchen. We apologize for the long review. We will always have good memories of our past times at the Sanderling.

In the middle of renovations, I'd wait until they are completed before giving it another go. The resort is in a great location right on the beach. check was fast, simple, friendly. Our rooms were just redone so of course they were nice and clean......but the resort was overflowing with workers and equipment, they weren't keeping buildings locked, the indoor pool was very limited, and you couldn't relax with all the work going on. We will give it another try, but only after the work is completed.

Excellent service, location and facility, but food was bland for the most part. Everything was prepared excellently, but it just lacked any real flavors that stood out. Crab and artichoke dip stood out from the rest of the food as being fantastic, but the rest of the food sullied the experience.

We came in for Christmas dinner with a party of six had a lovely time. The food was amazing, the wine pairings were great, and the service was excellent. Well worth the price. If you're around on Christmas day in the Outer Banks, and you don't feel like cooking, this would be an excellent choice. Call ahead for reservations.

My fiancee decided to treat us (mainly herself) this weekend to a resort stay and spa day. We checked into the resort late last night and the staff was very helpful in getting us settled! Our room is spacious, HUGE shower, comfortable bed and linens, and an ocean view to wake up to. They're serving fresh coffee and tea in the lobby each morning, perfect to enjoy from one of the adirondack chairs they have overlooking the beach. This afternoon is our spa appointment and we can't wait!

My husband and I just returned sunday from celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time and the staff at sanderling were 98% of why it was so lovely. I have to say, when we first arrived there were a group of ladies staying in the room next door. We could hear their entire conversation and knew our weekend wouldn't be relaxing that way. So we called to see if there were any other open rooms, long story short they upgraded our room to a king suite with an ocean view! When I asked how much more I needed to pay they said, "just have a happy anniversary!" Long story short, they hooked us up and everything was amazing! Loved our spa day on Saturday, we had the best chocolate covered strawberries delivered by room service. Our couples massage was the best massage I have ever had! Anyway, we will definitely go back to the sanderling! Also, loved the smores kit! Big thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome!

This resort has been our go to place in the Outer Banks. We've never been disappointed, the whole staff is wonderful. On our trip last week we requested an ocean view room. The room and the 2nd floor deck was very nice. Unfortunately, it was only a partial ocean view. We went
down to the front desk to Express our reservations, Ashley Vaught and Nancy Russell gave us several great options. We chose the same room we stayed in two years ago. They were both more than accommodating! Ashley even looked up our past accommodations and gave us that same room. They have three pools, two restaurants and a cabana with food and drink next to the pool and beach. Go nowhere else. Bi

We stayed here last year and it was beautiful! Booked again this year and it was terrible! They had furniture being moved in the second and first level with no courtesy notice. This went way beyond the evening hours up until 10pm. Hearing drilling and hammer noises was no fun! It was in the month of April so it was off season but a courtesy notice or a move to the other part of the hotel would have been nice(considering there were barely 20 guests in the hotel)! We ended up leaving a night early due to the noise every night with no refund! Not a resort level customer service! Very disappointed!! Will not be recommending this hotel to anyone!

Higher end resort, the upkeep and staff are outstanding and I wish I could afford to go more often! Definitely make this one of your destinations. Love the side where it's just for adults, and they have WiFi throughout the resort even by the pools.

This is a decent resort but certainly not luxury. Difficult to reach room service, when reached I'm told I have an incorrect menu. Not willing to accommodate or provide the customer service you would expect from an upscale resort. Just lacking in all aspects. Disappointing.

I m not sure who they paid off to get a 4 Diamond rating, but I ve stayed at chain hotels a lot nicer than this place. The food was average, hire a damn chef and offer room service. if your going to charge for exemplary service and accommodations, then step your game up.

We came off season and the weather never cleared up unfortunately for us, however the spa attendants and service providers were lovely to us. The manager even worked with our budget to find a spa package that was just right without going too "extra".
