Ocean view from the South Inn was super nice. Room also had easy beach and pool access. Fitness room had adequate equipment as well. Check-in / check-out experience was solid and staff was friendly. Will book again.

The best thing about staying at this resort was the view of the ocean and friendly staff. The room was a disappointment. The rooms are outdated and not properly cleaned. I ended my stay earlier than planned due to the lack of upkeep of the room & resort it self. The website and pictures are deceiving, this is NOT a luxury resort and is not worth the price at all. I will not be returning and I do not recommend this resort.

Beautiful location, large and spacious rooms. Employees are friendly and willing to help. I attended a work event and the staff at Sanderling made the time there really enjoyable. I was able to relax and enjoy the events for my job. Time well spent

I have heard a lot of wonderful things about this resort and was looking forward to our visit. Upon checking in, I realized that we had a room right next to the elevator. I am an extremely light sleeper and 5 1/2 months pregnant so I politely asked if if there was any way we could move rooms. The receptionist, although pleasant, quickly came back after speaking with his manager to tell me they were completely sold out. I understand it is a busy weekend but it would have been nice to have the manager come out to speak with me face to face to tell me that he did not have a single room available that was not next to an elevator. The biggest issue was that our room was hot the entire time. The thermostat was set to 68 degrees and it never dipped below 75 degrees. My husband and I both slept on top of the covers. After 4 complaints and no follow up, on the last night I asked to speak directly with the manager to explain the situation and beg for a new room. He was able to give me one but offered no compensation for the trip so far. I travel a good amount and have never been to a resort that was not concerned about the comfort of their guests. For $450 a night, I was really surprised. I am a business owner myself and would be mortified to know that one of my customers had such a bad experience in my business.

A gem

Sanderling Resort was wonderful! Awesome staff, friendly guests. We took advantage of the fireplace and luxurious bathtub in our room and the indoor swimming pool. The food was outstanding albeit a bit pricey. All in all we had a great experience.

While this is a lovely resort with low crowds and high end restaurants, I felt that some things were lacking for the cost per night. The in room water jug provided is extremely salty, and it would have been nice to have water bottles as the water was so disgusting that I couldn't drink it. The bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows, however the sheets felt like sleeping with PAPER, and my husband and I had trouble sleeping. The food was overpriced for the taste. I asked for a pack n play and it wasn't provided. The gentlemen I encountered that brought our bags up, provided our room service and other room services were so professional, polite and kind. I did appreciate the poolside waiters, and the beach chairs and umbrella provided. I know these are part of what make this resort cost more than the average, but felt that isn't an excuse for the lacking other service elements.

We recently stayed at the resort - was going to give it one star but they were helpful sending my husband's medicine back home after he accidently left it at the resort. The rooms were a huge huge disappointment - we paid $549 a nite with resort fees and tax and not worth the price. I expected a luxury room for the money. The resort may have been great at one time but is old and tired. We could have stayed somewhere like the Cloisters in SC for the same price which is truly a luxury resort. The rooms are small and cramped - the AC blew on the beds all nite long - the mattresses sloped and there were stains on the comforter - the view was of the ocean - the outside balcony very tiny - the bathroom was the nicest part of the room. The restaurant gets only an ok. Many other options in the area - don't know how this got a 4 star rating. Many of the reviews written on this site were written by local guides so not sure that they really stayed at the resort -

My fiance and I were absolutely in love with this resort. We originally planned to stay in North Myrtle Beach, but after that fell through we made a reservation here to try and salvage our vacation. We ended up with a room on the 1st-floor in the South Inn.

This place surpassed all of our expectations. The room was pretty spacious and was extremely quiet. I rarely heard the normal sounds of people from the surrounding rooms, so it really felt like we had the peace and quiet that we were hoping for. The bathroom was clean with a very large glass shower. The bedroom had a very comfortable king-sized bed and a new, large tv. This resort also had a very nice adults-only pool and very convenient beach access.

More than anything else though, I can't say enough about the staff. Everyone there, from the cleaning staff to the people behind the counter, all seemed genuinely concerned for the interests of their guests. Every worker there was always willing to help and always greeted us with a smile.

The only real negative I can think of is the lack of a full kitchen, or even a microwave. The room only had a mini-fridge in it. I love hotels with full kitchens, but I know that those are always difficult to find. My one piece of advice for this resort would be that you should try to avoid having your check-in and check-out dates on Saturday or Sunday. Since there's only one main road into Duck, NC, this road becomes extremely congested on Saturdays and Sundays when all the rentals houses have people arriving and leaving. Overall, if you are looking for a beautiful, quiet resort right near the beach that is great for couples, then this is the perfect place.

Was vacationing here last weekend with my work group for a relaxing weekend. I had a diverticulitis flare up which ending up in a trip to urgent care. Doctor put me on a bland diet. Got back to my room and called room service. I wanted some chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese. Lady on the phone said they didn't have that on the menu, told me to hold on and put the chef on and I explained my problem. The chef, named Zack went way above and beyond to help me and special made my dinner. Now that's a 5 star chef.

The resort was very nice, clean, and the staff was very friendly. The location was great - right by the beach, with services to have beach chairs and umbrellas set-up for you. The accommodations were great, except the walls were very thin. I could hear footsteps from the floor above my room and activity in the hallway very clearly. The beds were so uncomfortable/soft as well as the pillows. Also, there was no bathtub in the room, which was an unpleasant surprise for a resort. The spa and gift shop was splendid, probably my favorite part of the resort. The gift shop was clean, tranquil, and well-organized and stocked. The spa was a truly relaxing area and experience.

Beautiful hotel, amazing staff, and so much to do! The waves are too high to go swimming in the ocean, but there are 3 pools, and 2 hot tubs that are open! We have a corner room that has a view of the bay and the ocean! It's perfect!

WAY overpriced for a resort. One would think they would the prices for people who stay here, the prices for food would be cheaper, especially for how much they charge for the rooms. Doors were broken and seems like an outdated resort. Needs some updates.

Not my first visit to this resort , spent to time there about 18 yrs ago. It has since changed ownership and the rooms seem a bit smaller. I really missed the fact that we were not offered a breakfast basket with muffins and such each morning, that was a lovely perk offered in the past. The room was adequate and comfortable. If I could offer a negative statement, the showers need a handle of some type in the showers. The only one was on the door and if an elderly person used that shower to balance or such, they would fall out of the shower as the door would open up. I see this as a huge safety issue. I enjoyed my stay regardless.

Pool is located over half a mile away down the street. Not allowed access to gym as a visitor. Refrigerator took 24-48 hours to achieve temp. Besides those mishaps, close beach access, plenty of parking spaces, and cozy abodes.

The beds are comfy. The room is clean. The food is average (we are at life-saving station), but the service in the restaurants as well as in the hotel from the front desk to the housekeeping staff is unparalleled. Well worth the stay

This beachfront resort is beautiful! It was such a fun and relaxing way to spend time with my colleagues during a three-day professional development trip for work. The rooms were spacious and clean and I loved having an oceanfront balcony to relax and enjoy the ocean in the evenings. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I am definitely planning to return in the near future.

Overall an amazing resort. Staff and amenities are amazing. Super nice access to a well maintained beached. Only reason for a 4 vs 5 rating is the food. Pretty mediocre. Not inline with rest of the resort.

The staff was the best. Very accomodating, friendly, and really worked to ensure we had a great trip. Disappointed in the construction going on, the cold indoor pool water, and the onsite food options. For the cost and the actual amenities, I only gave it 3 stars.

Went in for spa service. Scheduled 80 minutes. Waited for over a half hour in the waiting area. Finally went and told the desk that my therapist never came to take me back. The therapist Elizabeth then took me back and gave me a super rush massage. It was not good at all. Not even an hour. When I went to leave they told me the therapist ran over on her appointment before me and because of that they were only going to charge me for 50 minutes. I shouldn t have been charged at all. I ve had better massages at the mall in the chair s in front to Macy s. Don t waste your money

An absolute disappointment.

An absolute disappointment.
I trusted Sanderling with my first wedding anniversary. They truly dropped the ball.
Booked us in a room over the bar bathrooms. Trash cans and everyone doing their business is not exactly what I expected when I booked an Oceanview room.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We chose weekdays in April to avoid the crowd in covid times so the resort was fairly empty. They only one restaurant open and bar, beach side cafe were closed, that was the downside but we enjoyed the less busy season. The room was decently big and the balcony was a great feature.

Met a business colleague for breakfast. Excellent menu with some very healthy options in a terrific location with very friendly people. Best breakfast location on the Northern Outer Banks.

Extremely relaxing and enjoyable...just a few steps and you're on excellent sand alongside the ocean. We liked leaving our sliding doors open in our room so we could hear the waves crashing all night and enjoyed waking up to the sunrise every morning. Every staff member greeted us with a big smile and treated us like family. We are usually bad with names but Nastassia, Nancy and Natania were especially pleasant! Every time we walked by they'd smile and ask about our day. They all made sure we were cognisant of the many amenities the resort has to offer. We checked-in stressed and checked-out relaxed. We will be back!

I have not been there yet, but I received a prompt and very though response about the facility from TC who directed me where to fly from, sent along many pamphlets & a kind note to boot.

We have stayed here twice, once along with our teenage daughter. We really enjoy the beginning of off season. Our rooms have been lovely both times. In one, we overlooked the fire pit and pool and it was outstanding with soft guitar and singing provided by a wonderful songwriter beside the fire pit. We could enjoy all this from our balcony with the waves crashing. The second floor has beautiful furnishings and it's a great place to see the sunset on the sound side. My husband had a massage at the spa and it was great. There are chairs for the beach even in off season, great food right here and nearby shopping. Staff are very friendly and gracious. Beach is beautiful.

This is my happy place on earth! We come here almost every year for family vacation. It s my absolute favorite place. The staffs are very nice and the amenities are great. You don t have to fly to any exotic location to rejuvenate yourself. This has a 5 star ambience with a view and my husband also said he would come here just for the massage. It is pricy but you get what you pay for. It is totally worth the money. Highly recommend, you won t regret
