One of my all-time favorite places in Milwaukee. Every dish is a new twist on something that you think is familiar, but turns out not to be. Palamino salad (Fried chicken salad) was super tasty and the Italian sausage, served patty style, was a spicey fun surprise.

Whoever decided it was a good idea to get rid of the pool tables and tofu wings needs a swift kick to the balls

I was very pleased with my food (I had the country fried steak) and my fiance had the chicken and waffles. so good. we also had a great server who was very friendly and prompt. We will def be back!

Generally pleased with my experience, usually awesome. For real though, you're an @ss hat if you've had a bad experience here. Great beer, bourbon, cream pie...the only fried chicken I like. Cozy. Thanks for existing.

I love this place. The setting outside during the warm season is great. On the inside it has a nice bar and tables. The food is simple and tasty. I love the brisket burger and fries. My wife had the falafel salad and loved it. I recommend this place.

Love their tots! Red velvet pancakes are a bit much on your own, but a great app or dessert to share.

Truly delicious! Service is great, food is tasty and perfectly seasoned. We've only had coffee so I can't speak to their drinks but we will most definitely be back to try everything else on their menu!

Palomino has really upped their game recently. Awesome baked goods, dinner is usually really good albeit more calories than one should typically consume, and wait staff is always pleasant and attentive.

Went there for a fish fry. Turned out to be pretty expensive. First many chairs wiggled loose at the joints and I didn't trust sitting on the first, second, or thirds one I tried. And we sat in a dark corner. I had a hard time reading the menu. One plus was the cheesy grits. I opted for the grits instead of fries. Perfect. But 2 fish fries and 1 beer, from what we remember, the bill was $45+ before tip. Yikes.l think we'll stick with church fish frys for a while.

My husband and I have been to Palomino several times for both dinner and brunch. We went back for brunch this past weekend after some time away and found a renewed affection for their vegetarian chicken and the overall yummy selection of comfort foods and sides. My husband had the hot chicken sandwich made vegetarian and I had the vegetarian chicken and waffles. I always find it really exciting being able to take part in what is normally a very meat-centric dish. And I feel like both of these options, and all of those we have tried in the past, have been fulfilling and not just sad substitutes. Additionally, many of the vegetarian options are actually vegan. So there's a lot of effort being made to accommodate varying levels of meat-free, which I appreciate. That being said, their cheesy hashbrown casserole is a real delight (though definitely not vegan).

The space itself is very laid back and casual. It has a very all-american feel and feels like a comfortable place to have a chicken dinner with friends. Also, during the warmer months, you can have your meal outdoors on their patio space.

Even though we hadn't been in months, I think Palomino will be a front runner choice whenever we're aching for some comfort food that doesn't feel too overly indulgent.

I had some fried cheese curds that were a little soggy and oily. Not the best fried cheese curds I've ever had. Not terrible, but not great.

Probably the best fried chicken dinner I've had in Wisconsin. It was so juicy.

Best brunch in Milwaukee. The chicken and waffles & biscuits and gravy are some of the best I've had. The beer selection is great and the whisky selection is incredible. Make sure you show up early because it can get very busy and can run out of some dishes.

Food is always great here. Great location. The patio is really busy in summer expect a small wait.

Nice atmosphere and waiter. Waits weren t too long. Huge huge selection of Whiskies, Bourbon, Scotch, etc if you have a friend who s visiting that likes them definitely take them here. I ordered their PBLT which was tasty admittedly though I wish the Pimento Cheese was thicker / more prominent.. I couldn t taste any pimento in it either.

I just like my wait staff to check on me more.. For was great would definitely good again..

My husband and I wanted to try a new fish fry and hadn't been to Palomino in a couple years since a previous visit that didn't impress. We give second chances.
We got the tater tots to start which were delicious but our fish fry dinners were just okay and a bit dry.
While we were moved from our initial table to a better spot at our request our service overall was not attentive. Our waiter was pleasant but ignored us after bringing our meals - didn't check how our food was and we had to flag her down for refills on our beverages which then never came.
The disappointment here is that Palomino has the same ownership as Honeypie on KK which is a consistent favorite. We'll stick with Honeypie but no more Palomino.

recently changed ownership; it was closed, renovated, and received a menu overhaul. Many former regulars have been disillusioned with the new menu, which is more expensive than prior, and lacks the signature "2 sides and 2 sauces" with each entree. Everything is a la carte now, and more expensive. It's also more of a restaurant with a bar now, than a bar that serves food as it was previously.

Since all of the changes have occurred, though, I must say the food is on an entirely different level than it was before. The food still has a southern theme... as part of the renovations a smoker was installed, and the pulled pork is tender, smoky, and delicious. I had the fried chicken last time I stopped in, and it's the best I've had outside of Memphis (Gus's fried chicken is far and away the best I've ever had).

I'd recommend stopping in, but remember, it's not the shot-and-beer corner joint that it once was.

Update: The brunch menu here is fantastic. I've been back a few times since my initial visit for dinner, and it has been outstanding every time.

Good foods, good beers. $6 (Craft) Beer and (Whiskey) Shot deal is a steal and is all day every day. Veggie Po-Boy and Hot Chicken (which can be made vegan) sandwich are my go-to's.

Great place. High comfort level. Welcoming , knowledgeable staff. Small menu, but, well thought out. Food was awesome. Will definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu. Best Bourbon/ Whiskey selection in Bay View.

The neighborhood, the atmosphere, and the menu --which includes everything from southern style meals to Vegan options-- combine to attract a refreshingly diverse crowd. Everyone can feel at home hanging out here.

The few who gave the Palomino poor ratings must have a whole 'nother opinion of what makes a good corner bar/restaurant; 'cuz I think this place is spot-on.

I've been to both incarnations of the Palomino and liked them both for what they were. In the current incarnation the vegan tres leche cake is pretty good. It's a large and very dense slice that could easily serve as dessert for two people. I also had chicken and waffles. I know chicken and waffles have a sort of cult following, but I didn't see it being any greater than the sum of its parts.

This place is just a bit out there. Great beer list, seriously, and an always rotating cocktail list. The food is odd, so if you're not an adventurous eater, this may not be the place for you. The pies are top notch, so leave room for desert.

Cheese curds were delicious, French fries were incredible and the brisket burger was fantastic! First time eating here and I will be back.

We ordered sandwiches, very good. Not a huge selection but also not just typical sandwiches. Its a casual place with good food and a nice variety of drinks! This is not a typical 'corner bar'!

Great local joint offering daily specials, different selection of whiskeys's as well as pies and cakes! Their food is pretty much comfort food, done up! Their cakes and pies are better than store bought or bakery bought (like good homemade). Offer outside seating in the summer and bring you furry friend if you want! Indoor seating is open and a little dim. Very great restaurant with above par service.

The best food around, hands down. Been here 6-7 times and all their food is amazing. Definitely get the cheese curds, you won't regret it. Also, their pie is AMAZING, so if you can save room for dessert (this isn't an option), get a slice

I've been to the Palomino many times over the years and I can safely say that they've never disappointed me. The food is delicious every time, and they have a wonderful selection of vegan options. I highly recommend the vegan chicken sandwich and the vegan wings! The service is always good, even during Covid. I've never had issues with online orders or picking up, and they'll even come to your car before you're able to call to and tell them you've arrived. This is one of the best restaurants in the entire city.

Had the new Pie & Whiskey special. Was actually half the food as described by the waitress, who didn't even bother to mention it until we brought it up. Guess it should have been expected after receiving only half a pint of beer with the special - again after our query when the menu described a pint. Only thing as described was the shot of whiskey.

So disappointed in how far this place has fallen. The service has been hit or miss, and so has the food. When it's good, it's good, but more often lately, they've been well off the mark.

Little bits of Milwaukee are scattered all over this dive. Enjoy some regional beers and some punk rock.

Neighborhood staple. Get the fried chicken dinner, you will have lunch the next day (or a late night snack). Interesting drink menu with a billion different whiskeys to try. Staff is really sweet. I can't wait to try their brunch sometime!
