A lot of the animals are missing right now, so I was pretty sad after driving over 800 miles that they were gone. Maybe give a discount or something because a lot were gone...

If you go here you should definitely watch the Elephant Show as well as Feeding the Penguins. My daughter and I had such an amazing time
A great zoo and a wonderful activity for all ages. I used to take my kids to the zoo and now I go to the summer concerts. Good parking facilities and a beautiful place to spend an afternoon or evening.
We came on a super hot day, the animals were all hiding and the kids were melting . Besides that, we love the zoo and are members . We come often for events at the zoo , zoo lights and jus summer days . The zoo is a place where memories are made . Childhood memories that last forever . I love doing that with my kids.
I do with attractions were included in the cost of ticket or not as expensive. Like the wall climbing attraction , come one ! $5! I have three boys that want to do it all the time . That s just ridiculous. So, on days like today, when animals are hiding , I did find myself not knowing what to do, because by the time I pay for wall climb and the $5 more dollars per kid for the marry go round , might as well just went to Oaks Park.
Even with the huge amount of people there today it didn't feel crowded. Only the tight spots (paths leading to exhibits)felt a bit, well, tight! But it was a great experience. There were tons of animals out and I love how natural they make the homes for the animals. There was a breast safety event going on and they made it into a game to see how many spots you could find. We got a free bike helmet for our son! There was a tak free raffle for bikes and scooters too. We didn't win but the helmet was a great consolation price. :)
The Oregon Zoo is the best place in Portland !! We love it !!!
We love going to the Zoo as a family. Our go-to place when company is in town. Annual pass is the only way to go.
Nothing is more exciting than seeing an exotic animal right in front of you. Animals that you wouldn't see unless you travel halfway across the world. The Portland Zoo has anything from exotic birds to elephants. As of May 2018, they are currently working on constructing three habitats, Polar Passage, Black Rhino and Primate Forest. Rumor has it around the Zoo that there's also an upcoming hippo habitat. But for now, you can enjoy turtles, penguins, bats, tigers, lions, giraffes, bears and much more. All around the entrance of the zoo are restaurants and a gift shop. I definitely recommend checking it out.
Prices: Adult (12 64): $17.95
Senior/ military (65 and up): $15.95
Youth (3 11): $12.95
2 and under: Free
The Zoo has done an awesome job lumberjack to the COVID-19 world. The number of people allowed is reasonable. Masks required, distancing well labeled. My only recommended change would be bigger/brighter "don't touch" markers on normally interactive exhibits.
Sorry if I added so many pictures, I don't want to spoil your fun but this year it was even better than last time. My future wife and my Ma had a blast.
While in Portland Oregon we decided to go to the zoo most of the large attraction animals we're not in their cages just a lot of walking without seeing a lot of animals
Love this place, saw lots of animals. Animals looked well cared for.
I loved the Northwest area, it's super cool with the wooden bridge and all the twist and turns with naturally occurring fauna... can't beat it. I also did the Sea Otter experience and that was absolutely amazing!
Expect more, given that the zoo is located on the territory of a huge Oregon preserve, in one of the greenest states.
The territory is small, there are few animals, in the area of sea creatures in the summer a terrible nauseating smell, it is difficult even to come close, not that to enter inside.
The only consolation is an excellent souvenir shop at the entrance.
A lot of cool toys for children and adults.
I have to make sure to get our family membership every year because we enjoy coming to the zoo often..... And the fact that they do low cost tickets for low income families is wonderful
Didn't get to see half the animals, they were hiding and alot of stuff was closed down. Very disappointing.
Typically gray Oregon day. Whether under construction, or animal not present because of the weather, at least half of the exhibits are empty, both indoors and outdoors.
Good zoo ovrall the zoolights was worth it. I am looking forward to seeing it when all the construction is done. Its pretty small so you can definetly do this zoo in a day.
Tons of people but not crowded. Elephants were a highlight. Train ride is super short.
Great Great animals. They seem comfortable and happy
We go to the zoo a couple of times a year. This time was for Zoo Brew. We really enjoyed it. Can t wait to go back next time and take tri met, the max if you want a car free care free experience.
Very disappointed with our visit to the zoo yesterday.
1. The train ride is cut short and you're still charged the same price. What I remember being a 10-12 min ride at moderate speeds is now a very very slow 5 min ride due to "repairs". I suggest charging less if the complete experience is not going to be provided.
2. Many of the exhibits were closed. No zebras, no polar bears, 1 penguin, no rhinos, many of the monkeys were gone, no crocodiles, and no hippos.
The zoo should post the exhibits that are closed and the animals that are not available on their website.
After an exhausting 4 hour drive there and back with 2 babies under the age of 3, it would have been nice to know a head of time what to expect, to determine if the trip was worth it. We will not be returning to the zoo anytime in the near future.
I didn't rate 1 star because we enjoyed seeing the elephants.
A lot of good stuff to check out here and at an affordable price compared to other zoo's. It looked small from the map but it's actually quite big. Clean and the setup makes it easy to navigate efficiently. They are adding more sections so it's only getting bigger. They have a carousel ride, train ride, food vendors, and a huge lawn area for picnicking. You can bring food & drinks which is nice and have a picnic on the huge grass lawn. Expect at least 3 hours comfortably to see all the sites. On top off the admission fee you have to pay for parking ($2/hrs or $8/whole day).
In general good but not one of the best zoos I've been to. Some areas and animals looked great, some need a bit of work to provide animals with better resources. Given the winter season, food offerings were severely limited with some of the main food areas not open.
Great Zoo...we are members and its a perfect place to get some walking in with family.
Awesome evening at the zoo. Would suggest reach by 2:00 PM have the kids enjoy watching animals and then watch the zoo light . The queue is also less during 2:00 PM . You can take trimet train and get the ticket prices reimbursed while buying the zoo light tickets .
The weather trick us, nice and sunny on the way in, but turned to rain shortly. We still got to see the animals and some more close up then ever. Almost all of the food carts were closed for the season and the carousel too, which is my 2 years old favorite part odd there zoo. Go figure! So that was a bummer, but it gives us incentive to come back with better weather.
One of the best zoos. Only 1 problem, don't go there hungry or thirsty. Nothing's open before 12
Great exhibits, animal care, and fantastic helpful staff!
Good information and well kept animals. Can be very crowded, especially when there are free or discounted days, so get there earlier in the day. If parents with kids could reduce the stroller use that would be very helpful to reducing congestion in some of the more narrow walkways.
We're excited to see what it looks like once all the renovations are done
The zoo was ok. I didnt like the fact that we paid about 40 bucks to get in and parking to go see a bunch of construction going on. Not to happy about that should of gave us a discount.
Best zoo on the west coast outside of San Diego. Never disappointing. I haven't loved all of the updates that have been made. I'm afraid the sun bears are gone, which is a shame. They have been my favorite part of the zoo for 30 years. If you haven't been here yet, you owe it to yourself and your family to make a visit. You'll be a fan too.
We had a fun time viewing exhibits and strolling through the Zoo. The 1958 bullet type train was an enjoyable experience. Wish the Cafeteria was open, since the eatery we found that basically had burgers was lacking in innovative tasty choices.
What a fun zoo! The eagle habitat is the coolest. I like how hilly this zoo is, a great place for a small hike and the animal exhibits are amazing. They have a lot of new things opening next fall that I am super excited for! When my baby is born, we will be getting a zoo pass and visiting very often.
The zoo is a great place to take small children. As a member, the early entrance benefit is amazing. It does get crowded on weekends and nice days but still so much fun. I only wish the train ran daily year round instead of just the summers.
Beautifully remodeled zoo. Good pedestrian flow. Convenient Max light rail stop. Magnificent Christmas lights show.
Best Place to Hangout with Kids with convenient location to Metro.
Lot of reconstruction going on. Worth a visit tough
Had so much fun. Kid and I love it. Animals all seem to be happy and well taken care of. Lots to see so plan to make a day of it.
Awesome zoo but employees could not have been less kind and helpful.
Great zoo! Wonderful paths and lots of direction signs. The employees are thoughtful and helpful.
I mean what other Zoo are you going to go to around here
The place is great and everyone super helpful, the food is a little pricey so i suggest eating after the visit
Who doesn't like the zoo? Great for kids, dates, even alone.
Great place. Awesome social distancing and cute animals.
Love that our zoo is so easy to access via Trimet. We are members and go as frequently as possible. Highly reccomend to everyone!
Nice place. Well kept. Lots to see. Fu place to go with family and friends. The train ride disturbingly short and anti-climatic.
A very nice zoo, beautifully located and well maintained. Unfortunately, many enclosures are under construction until 2020, otherwise the zoo would have received more stars.
Been coming to this zoo my entire life. Always clean and well taken care of. Lots to see and do
Very much geared towards kids, the train ride is short but fun
Beautiful day at the zoo and pretty much empty. Lots of exhibits closed. But still very enjoyable.
Beautiful layout. Visually ooen display allows for guest interactions up close. Great for kids
Recommend not going while it's too hot. The animalsseen to not want to do much of anything, can't say i blame them either.
Beautiful zoo with a lot of attractions and the employees here know what they're doing and the animals seem to be taken great care of. Can't wait to come back!
Always under construction and expansion to make each visit a new experience
Zoo lights are outstanding for kids and adults alike. Being a member isn't much more than a family paying to go in one time. But then the rest of the year is free. Staff was extremely nice and friendly for how busy they were.
Disappointed, went early, there 1/2 hr after it opened and no parking. Went back to max, cost another $20, went back to zoo and found out they were closing early for a concert. No bird show, half the paths to the displays were closed. No elephant's out,, only one. No rinos, and quite a few other exhibits closed. You have to be a rivh person to buy anything in the gift shop. Just very disappointed with the day
Had a great time at the zoo in the evening. Some animals were resting so it was kinda cool to see them just relaxing. Tickets and times are selected online so the social distancing and other covid regulations are great. With such great weather you gotta get your family to go down to the zoo.
I love this place but cant wait for construction to ne done
Always a joy with my kids... even when half the zoo is torn apart and so many exhibits are closed for the remodel.
Always a fun day out! It's a great idea for kids to purchase the plastic keys at reception. There are boxes around the zoo that the key activates a sounds recording for more information.... We made it like a mini treasure hunt! Pictures at the reception area by one of the zoo photographers and a little expensive, but remember.... All of the money collected there is paying for something. Zoo lights in the winter is fantastic, most of the park is lit up with illuminations... Book early and ahead, questions are massive on the night.
Beautiful place, some amazing animals, but it looked like a lot of construction
Having a great day at the Oregon Zoo with our Family
Great zoo but pricey to get in at $17 for adults. A one and done for me.
What is there not to love about the Oregon Zoo. fantastic animals, great location, amazing elephant program, and of course Zoo concerts!
Some is under construction. The young people they have here doing information booths are typical Portland people. They avoid eye contact and seem very distant. Takes away the mood to inquire about the displays or animals. It's ok if you are bored and have nothing to do.
Went for Zoo Lights, lots of fun. I recommend going early to beat all the families that flood the place about 7pm. Souvenir cups are worth it at zoo lights, as refills are a dollar and after two or three it really saves you.
I came on world elephant day. I couldn't be happier. Not only was their collection breathtaking, the conservation messages were spot on. As a zoo employee, I was so super impressed.
We love the Oregon Zoo. One of the things we have loved is to see how much it has changed over the years. They are constantly changing to not only improve the experience for visitors but to improve the life of the animals. Even during Covid they have done a good job making it a great visit.
Best to go earlier in the day if driving on weekends. Parking fills up pretty quick. The new elephant exhibit is amazing
