Food was just OK. Asked for the steak to be medium rare but it came more medium well and for the price of the steak it was disappointing. Didn't want to take it back as it was already getting late.
Lovely outdoor terrace though which is great for evening drinks or dinner.
Gorgeous leafy outdoor area, we usually have our Melbourne cup day lunch at this place
Oaks is a great pub, it's on the richer side of town so it's not a cheap pub, but it is a great pub.
Catch up with a few old footy boy's for a few drinks and food.

Very rude bar staff. Wish I never walked through the door. They treated me and very kind friends like second class citizens. Bar staff need manners training!
This place is an institution! Love the big yard with the old oak. Perfect for a beer and some oysters, but anything is pretty good here

My biggest problem was upstairs was a bit difficult to navigate and find the Terrace room for the event I was at. Fantastic venue overall, the oak tree namesake is a beautiful feature

This place is massive great old public house.
Plenty of different areas and the pool tables actually have enough room to swing your cue at any offenders.
The court yard seemed to be full of girls that share flats above shops looking for investment bankers to get them out of the chip shop and into the mansion. It's easy to pick up if you wear a fake watch and a nice coat.

I actually thought this was somewhere else but was quite delighted by the oaks. Wandered from one end to the other and I liked that that the refurb is elegant (design by paul kelly design) and the warm nature of a old school pub is tempered with nice design touches. The outdoor courtyard under the big tree looked like it would be great to hang out in. Other pub (at the other end that you can walk through to in the same complex) - also looked great. The food we had here, from the excellent steak tartare, superbly soft beef cheefs and perfect roast beef were all highlights. Really good food. The potatoes cooked in wagyu fat were a highlight. steamed and then deep fried and crunchily great. loved it.

This place gets a 5 just because of the SERIOUSLY delicious Tomahawk Steak that they can do. It's approx 1.8kg and so good.
The food is very disappointing. I did not enjoy paying $28.00 for a fillet of dry snapper, it was terrible, difficult to even cut with a knife. The menu is not great. The food use to be quite good.

Really great hotel but the intensity of the fairy lights in the garden is just too much. There were people wearing sunglasses at 10pm last week. Great pizza oven though!
The staff & customers are great people. Using crutches to go up or down stairs is hard for me. The lady in the bottle shop helped me into the hotel & when I was leaving one of the male customers helped me out of the hotel.
Cool venue, great vibe, went for the rugby world cup but had to leave as was packed in like sardines. Would recommend otherwise.

So many nooks and crannys to explore. Nice food and a great ambience. Wish I wasn't on a diet when I visited. Although I could have had one of the salads. However, the burger was beautiful. Now need to walk about 10km to get rid of the calories!

I mean, the steak is of average level, but the mussel is too small, green bean is too ripe and smashed potato is without cream or milk.
I wish they did a chicken schnitzel there other than that nice outdoor area.

The new Bar & Grill is fantastic. It has recently been refurbished and feels quite upmarket, although still retains the appeal for locals. I attended one of the Meat Masterclass events there and can't speak highly enough of it extremely educational and amazing value for such an enjoyable evening. The huge beer garden out the back is one of the best parts of The Oaks, just watch out for birds up above!

Huge pub with a good variety of bars, rooms and facilities (eg massive BBQ). Unique advantage is the sprawling outdoor area around a huge central tree.
Ha ha Lower North Shore pub that's massive in space but it's deserted by 10 p.m. because everyone goes home because they live on the north shore and they're sensible. Another round of light beers please Captain Sensible!
The lady at the entrance was very rude and the service was bad. We bought 2kg steak and when we ate it half done we found insects and we complain she took the insect to the kitchen and come back telling it was nothing but a black dot and said they wont replace the food. They afraid that we gonna ask to replace then while we didn't say anything about replacing the food and the lady keep repeating that they wont take any responsibility for it. I felt so disapointed with all the rating for this hotel. Even thought the place is quite good and comfortable. I hope the management can read this and maybe improve the service.
Chicken is amazing. Lovely staff, and a beautiful place to eat. They adhere to all covid guidelines too, so is a safe place to eat.
