No tomato sauce... honestly so confused. What venue doesn t have tomato sauce. Ordered some hot chips... $9 for the SMALLEST plate. And no tomato sauce. I even asked if I can pay for some, but no. No tomato sauce.. new refurb = not good

Surprisingly good steaks for a pub. Family friendly yet it also maintains a trendy vibe - makes for a good night out with mates under the beautifully lit tree in the courtyard

Went in for lunch. Paid almost $80 for 2 burgers and 2 pints. That is absolutely crazy.

first of all I agree that the place as a structure is nice, but everything apart from it is disgusting. we came here searching for a good quality craft beer, all we have found- a lot of commercial beer. even more disappointing thing- rude staff with fake smiles, especially tall guy with glasses suspiciously staring at you.

Great place to be, nice atmosphere and beautiful garden covered with the huge Oaks tree. Dinner or lunch can be started with fantastic beers at the bars, however; the service and staff management needs to be improved.

Great venue for drinks and it has nice outdoor seating especially at night with the fairy lights on the oak tree. They usually have outdoor heaters during winter. A few TVs showing sport and some in quiet indoor areas. Nice bathroom facilities. No table service but order food and collect it yourself. They usually have some gimmick like a juice bar or espresso martini. They accept credit cards. You can get a bus from the city and it takes about 15 mins or less. The food is decent but for regulars it's a bit boring. The tandoori chicken pizza is my favourite and can be shared between two. Price range is about $25 - $35 pp. Drinks are pricey - about $8 each depending on what your get.

Still the best place for a steak and catch up with friends. Unrivalled beer garden.

Beautiful place with a huge oak tree in the middle of the outdoor dining. Great selection of steak, tomahawk and their squid is a must try

Nicely renovated, good selection of beers and wines, decent menu. The tables are very close together so it's hard to move between them. All the food looked really good and portions are generous, my girlfriends were all happy with their meal. My mussels were divine but the untoasted toast bread is an aweful choice. They should be served with nice toasted sourdough bread and serving if toast, then at least it should be toasted. I tried the angelhair pasta with prawns and while nice, it could have had more 'balls' - in my view it needed a little more of every ingredient and a lot more salt. Both my other friends with veggie burger and lemon sole salted their meal, too. So overall a good experience but wouldn't go there for food only.

This place is so crowded and a little bit expensive regarding the meal portion. Overall can work very well to do celebrations or meeting with relatives and friends.

A popular Sydney north shore pub from my younger days. First time there for a while but great to see its still got great atmosphere & history, along with great beer garden, and dining. Well worth a visit for either a drink or an eat. Takes group bookings.

Had a great time with my friends last time here. Great beer selection and superb atmosphere. Staff are well accommodating. Everything looks great.

The garden at the back of The Oaks actually has a beautiful oak tree which I hear is insured for heaps. Great place to meet up for a friendly coffee or ale

Incredible service. Always willing to accommodate groups, and staff go out of their way to assist elderly relatives.
The back coutyard is spectacular and perfect for events/groups with beautiful lighting and live music.
The food is delicious and i would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great feed.

Great hotel on the north side of the harbour. Very good menu with a great steak selection with a variety of sources. Of course good bar offerings with a reasonable wine selection..although a little pricey..outdoor seating available with a nice ambiance.

Amazing venue but the covid menu is basic and our burgers were cold.

Great place for a beer and cocktails but the kitchen needs some real work. Cold burgers and undercooked steak. After two experiences I think the kitchen is really suffering.

Security staff were embarrassing. A group of guys mid 30s had been at a previous charity event and consumed less than 3 pints. Obviously there were consumers having had more. Security used their authority to order 1 drink per person. Security had no issue with their current consumers who at times
Were unable to walk. Possibly using their authority to be more powerful than should be, consider their compliance and conduct for an otherwise decent pub of which we are local tenants. Security guy Dan has a Masculinity/ authority issue and thinking the ethos of the place is a good atmosphere was killed by this Dan guy

Just an amazing old pub. So much character and charm, with an outdoor courtyard, several bar areas, lounges and private rooms. Definitely a classic icon in Sydney.

Great atmosphere and good food. We didn t book and had to settle in doors. Vego pizza was great and chicken pizza with cashews was something new.

Went here for a birthday, great place with great food.

This Old world pub is your goto experience on the north side of Sydney... 5 different bars ... Craft beers ... A devine out door eating area under a beautiful old tree that is the name same of the place. Food was excellent and what you would expect of a 5star Pub. Plenty of staff to look after you properly and btw they make an excellent espresso Martini

Dined on a Sunday night and used their online booking system to reserve a table; was simple and easy. Booked at 7pm so wasn t as busy but still a decent crowd. Had the 1.4kg tomahawk steak for $95 which is an excellent deal; comes with green beans, roasted potatoes and choice of 3 sauces as a standard.

Great lunch, staff even offered table service which I did not think was a thing at The Oaks.

A Neutral Bay institution. Its one pub you have to check out if you're in the area.

Lovely atmosphere and great selection of drinks. The quality of the food does justify the price and is lacking compared to the decor and the attempted presentation.

Really nice bar with great outdoor seating area under a big oak tree. The food and drinks are quite overpriced, but it does have a cool atmosphere. It is quite difficult to get a seat/table in the outdoor area. Really large indoor areas, that have a lot of character as well

Top Spot. Food and Beverage were reasonably priced and at atmosphere was dumb and lively.

Nice pub with a huge beer garden. Great place for a beer. Also famous for its cook your own steak bistro. Not cheap but good quality meat.

Wow. Just wow. The way the tree is lit up is out of this world, please being able to sit directly under it is just superb!!!

Went on a Friday night. Was a little bit dubious expecting it to be crazy busy, but was pleasantly surprised that the were plenty of tables available in the lovely outdoor dining area. Staff are very friendly and helpful. However the drinks can be a little pricey. Nice pool rooms upstairs.

Great service, awesome food and a very nice ambiance. I had the Fillet Steak which was tender, cooked exactly as ordered and not fatty at all. Cold beer from tap before and red wine with the meal was just right.

Had the Tomahawk steak here , was almost perfection. The vibes here are awesome and could spend hours in here having a drink or 15 and having good times with family and friends. An absolute amazing place in the summer in the garden.

Formula for cooking own steak and meeting others over the grill has been successful for at least quarter of a century.
An institution of the lower North Shore

Lots of delicious steak options with a very knowledgeable waitstaff and extensive bar. I think the real star of this historic venue is the namesake Oak tree, where at night it is lit up with hundreds of lights and it's pretty mesmerizing. However, the Victorian architecture has hidden gems scattered throughout the place, my favorite being the pool and game rooms upstairs that, and I mean this in the best way possible, gives a total "The Shining" vibe. Lots of character at this one restaurant!
