I definitely recommend the Normandie! We stayed for 5 days and were sad to go home. The location was very central to all the things we wanted to do in Hollywood, downtown, etc. Our room, a standard king, was a tad smaller than a typical hotel, but it was totally fine for us. Had a nice closet for us to hang our clothes, great AC, frig, nice toiletries, wifi, hairdryer, 2 complimentary bottles of water each day, and make your own coffee bar. Flat screen TV, comfy bed, and nice view, VERY clean. The traffic outside is loud, but, pull the curtains shut and it drowns out. The rest of the hotel is so quiet we wondered if there were any other guests. I LOVED the historic remodel, it was a great balance of modern amenities with many vintage edging. Loved the old pictures, wish there were more.

The service was great! The bellhop was my favorite. Each time we returned he warmly greeted us by saying "welcome back", opened the door, called the elevator, made small talk with us, etc. He made us feel so good about staying here, as if we were his personal guests!

The lobby is so beautiful, tranquil, and smells amazingly fresh. Loved the pond with fish very relaxing, loved the vintage typewriter begging to be used. Remodeling was happening on the soon to be restaurant. Wanted to hang out in the lobby for hours, only coffee and possibly a warm cookie in the afternoon could have made it more inviting. :)

At first we were skeptical to be in Korea town, however, it was clean (much cleaner than other parts of the city), and felt very safe walking around at night, gas was less, and freeways were easy to access. The Doughnut shop across the street made the most amazing smoothies and breakfast sandwiches. The metro station is only a block away- we used it twice to go to Hollywood, very convenient, felt safe- even late at night. Bus stops close too, used it once- made us a little nervous late at night, but we survived.

The only thing that we didn't like was the parking situation. The hotel has valet parking for $29 a day. This is great if money isn't a concern. However, it felt a bit high for us- although it removes the hassle of street parking. Street parking is not hard to find, however, almost all of it is 2 hour parking, and/or meters. Meters are enforced till 6pm. You can park over night on the street, but most streets have no parking from 7am-9am. So you have to get up early to move the car, and parking during those 2 hours can be tricky. There are a few overnight lots for $5 or $10 which you can park till 9am, but they are 5-8 blocks away. So, you have to decide between the cost, and the hassle. This is the only reason I gave the hotel 4 stars.

We booked through Hotwire and got a great deal. I would absolutely stay here again, it was a great experience! We are excited to go back and check out the restaurant when it opens.

The hotel is older but makes up for it. They offer free breakfast with an OK selection but most hotels in this area don't offer this. They also give you free water bottles every day. Parking is valet but it's cheaper than other hotels in the area. The garage is 1 block away so you could park yourself. It's also 1 block from the subway. Overall this is a great hotel but it's is old so keep that in mind when booking... this isn't a modern hip hotel.

I really enjoyed staying here for two nights while visiting a friend a few blocks away. The location is great for tourism and right off a metro line which is very nice. The building is very authentic to it's historical significance, with a gorgeous lobby and numerous antiques. They have a nightly wine reception which is great and the staff are super courteous and greet you by name as you leave and return throughout the day. The bed was very comfortable and the room was minimal but more than accommodating, I loved how they include a water carraffe in your room to fill with filtered water machines on each hall which cuts down on plastic since they offer free water bottles upon request. My room description said it had a deep soaking tub and a robe and it didn't have either. It was a third party site so they may have had details wrong, as the bathroom is not large enough to probably have ever fit a deep soak tub. It was still nice, but given my back problems, I had been looking forward to that tub. Regardless, I had a great time and would certainly stay here again! Valet I the only parking and while you have in and out privileges, it is expensive so if free parking is important to you, that's not going tj happen here. But the will see to it that you have a great time. Btw you must try the convinient Cassell's burger joint attached to the hotel, the food is absolutely delicious!

A great blend of stylish and functional. Sometimes you go to a hyper hip hotel like this and the services suffer for the style. Not here. The staff is very helpful and quick to assist. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The common rooms are great. Lots of comfybseating in an artful, tranquil environment. The host wine tastings and music events in these space to make use of them. The immediate surrounding location is not scenic, but it is a quick drive to many L.A. attractions. Great Korean food and attractions are easily in walking distance to enjoy without a car.

Amazing old hotel, you get the experience of staying in a cool old spot in Korea town. Make sure to go to the free wine tastings from 4:30 to 6 every day and take care of the man at the counter and he will take care of you. If I come back to LA I'm staying here for sure. Also, the food in Korea town is incredible, so many underground spots that will all impress.

A very affordable and pleasant stay. The location is good, you are near many restaurants including Pieology and Korean BBQ and right next to the subway which makes getting around easy. Hotel Staff is very friendly and room was nice and felt spacious even with four of us. One con is the valet parking, which I found to be really expensive, but it was great overall.

Ok. So this is a beautiful hotel! And honestly, it seems like a good deal for the price. But the walls are so thin I could hear my neighbor clearing his sinuses every morning and the street traffic kept me up at night. The breakfast is served in a pretty ornate dining area, but it's a very basic Continental breakfast. I also had to wait a considerable amount of time for my car every time I requested it by calling down and asking the front desk to have it brought out.

The hotel lacked basic modern amenities, especially in the current years we all live in. Room planning was poor. Service was mediocre for a self-proclaimed "boutique" hotel, it left much to be desired. I have seen better service, amenities and room layout at basic franchise hotels and motels.

It's a very interesting hotel. The entire hotel and the rooms are antique themed and it's a sight to behold. The hotel staff are very warm, friendly and accommodating. Being my first time in LA, they helped me get settled into the city and recommended a ton of places to visit and each one I have actually been to has been awesome. If you're ever in Koreatown, love antiques and need a hotel, this just might be it for you

This is a beautiful hotel with a long history. It still keeps the most of the design and feeling of 1900s. There is an antique typewriter in the lobby, people can play it for fun or write a letter to someone special. Since it is located in Korean town area, there are tons of restaurants around it.

Lovely building, great atmosphere. Love the complimentary breakfast. Really laid-back vibe. Building is old so you can hear your upstairs neighbors walk around. But that is to be expected. Room looked out at brick wall but was pretty quiet. Not a fan of valet parking but almost all hotels have this.

Staff is great. Beautiful old bhilding, boutique feel throughout- nothing corporate/tired about the place. The room decor was unique, really cool. Super comfy bed and pillows. Cassel's restaurant (attached to hotel) is a hip, old school burger joint. Loved my stay.

The rooms are stylishly furnished and the beds are comfortable. Amenity is Sea Orbigueru, but made in China. There is a large dining room where you can have a breakfast buffet and an American Diner Bar on the first floor. The diner can drink alcohol until midnight. Location, delicious Korean barbecue and local-oriented Korean shopping mall around. You can enjoy reasonable, delicious, authentic Korean home-made food at the food court in the shopping mall, and the supermarket on the first floor has a good selection of beverages and food at low prices.

This was possibly the worst experience of my life and almost cost me it. I wonder what the suicide rate is like in this part of town? The pubs and clubs are dead. The place is a concrete jungle with all the personality of a brick. Perhaps one day a big wave will wash it all away. One star is being generous, there wasn't an option for -1. It may be bearable if I had a quiet room but all I can hear is this sh#ty bass line from some crap bar under my room. If I live through the next two days in this toilet, I wont be back. Ever.

Exactly what we needed. The rooms clean and have a homey feel. There is a delicious burger/breakfast place attached to the lobby. Its in Ktown which is right in the middle of all the other neighborhood. There is a subway about a 10 minute walk away, as well as buses that go along way. Really loved this place.

We had a few issues with the hotel, but the staff was friendly and accommodated as much as possible. On the plus side, it is well styled with a hip vibe. The rooms are cool and interesting - ours had a record player with a good selection of tunes. The bed was a few stairs up on an elevated section, with the mattress plopped right on the floor. It had a bit of a rockstar loft kind of feel.

On the negative side: (1) breakfast was only until 9am, (2) the view from both windows was of a brick wall, (3) our windows overlooked an outdoor bar, so the noise was an issue until well after 2am, (4) cigarette smoke from the workers outside drifted into our closed windows, (5) parking is an extra charge ($20?), so pay up or park on the street a few blocks away, (6) our bathroom had no door, and opened wide into the bedroom - awkward and uncomfortable for sure.

Good location, good room. There is a lack of attention to some details such as the breakfast room, which should be more welcoming, but in general, everything is fine. It is very close to subway station and bus stops, equidistant from Santa Monica, Long beach, universal studios and the airport. To get around by public transport is very good. In the area there are a lot of Korean restaurants,

It's cheap at first but they don't tell you about the 35$ valet parking that you HAVE to get. Then there is also a 50$ charge for pets that they do not tell you about anywhere on here or any of the apps that you can book with. I totally understand some people's pets mess up things but our little dog couldn't hurt a fly doesn't shed never messes up anything in the room. Which I would understand a deposit for incase they do have to clean up after them. But after all that I could have found another hotel that didn't charge for all that bs and the bathrooms are ridiculously small. However the customer service was great and the room was great.

The hotel is great, but walking through the hallways feels a bit creepy and scary. There is dim lightbulbs and some parts not even lit up at all. It gives a spooky vibe, but other than that it was great.

Bass from music downstairs rattled the room all night. No joke, you could feel the floor vibrating. Room was nice enough. Would have enjoyed the stay if I didn't need internet for work (super slow) and I didn't need to sleep. I called the front desk about noise and was told that it wouldn't be an issue after 2am. Seriously. Apparently there is a bar downstairs. If you get a room on the 2nd floor just ask to be moved.

If you're ready to be apart of the iconic LA life, then you'll love this restored hotel/boutique rjght in the middle of the Wilshire district/Korean Town. The rooms are absolutely charming with there early 20th century decor. And, there's a historic burger joint right at your doorstep. Seven Wonders Travel Agency booked my stay and I couldn't have been happier. If you're driving, valet park, it's worth it. Then go and explore LA life!

Absolutely loved our stay here, the hotel was built in the 1920's but has since been renovated so it's a fun, eclectic mix of vintage with an modern instagramable vibe. The room and amenities were great but what really impressed us was the staff and their attention to detail and customer service. From the valet, to front desk to the maid service everyone was so friendly and helpful. I hope I can come back soon~

If you're looking for an excellent place to stay i...

If you're looking for an excellent place to stay in LA, you can't go wrong with Hotel Normandie. My wife and I just spent a week there and it was great. I'm gonna tell you why.

First off, LOCATION! It's right on the cusp of Koreatown. Walk like, a block down and you're there. Plenty of great places to eat and if you want to get your tourist on, some cool buildings and architecture to snap pictures of. Two places we recommend in this area: Gong Cha off of Wilshire you get a chill vibe and unique menu of Boba and other refreshing drinks. Sit down for lunch or dinner at Quarters Korean BBQ and you'll experience attentive service, somewhat aloof staff, but some dang good food. Get the pork belly. You'll cry. The hotel itself though sits in a pretty central spot in the city because 20-30 minutes in any direction and you hit the major spots: Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Chinatown, downtown LA, etc. It took us about 40 minutes to get to Santa Monica.

Secondly, Hotel Normandie has an element of class to it. It's got an old school feel with hints of steam-punk and vintage charm. There are fun elements like the valet parking, "bell-hop" (I'm going to call him that because I don't know his official title), a decent continental breakfast, complimentary water, evening social mixers, and rooftop yoga. We were kind of bummed out though that there wasn't anything in our room or anywhere else that told us about the hotel or its amenities; anything about the hotel and the area we found out through the very cool "bell-hop", who we will be getting to in a minute. The room was cozy and clean (housekeeping was amazing), beds were soft, towels and toiletries plenty. They have a nice selection of TV channels, including DisneyJr which is great when you're traveling with little people, which we were. The ONLY thing about our room that we didn't care for was the window. While it looked great and added to the overall ambiance, it was drafty, not sealed at all, and easily unlocked so if you have clever kids (which we do), steer them away from those windows. That sash gets pushed up somehow and there's nothing between them and the sidewalk below!! We were on the 4th floor...Along with all that was the noise! Every car horn, every police siren, every motorcycle and ambulance sounded like it was driving right through our room. Doesn't make for a restful evening.

Now we've saved the best for last. ENTER Cameron, Jack, and CJ. Cameron and Jack were two of the valet guys and they were great. Calling us Mr. and Mrs. Reyes, respectful of my wife and children, helpful, and careful with our vehicle.
CJ was our VIP, though. From the moment we arrived, he was our guy. He remembered our names and the names of our three kids. He checked us in when the front desk was busy and upgraded our room to give us more space. He told us all about the history of the hotel, it's amenities and activities, what to look for in the area, suggestions for dining, everything. He helped us up to our room with all our luggage and kids, we had a light out and he fixed it, all the while talking with us like we were old friends. That dude deserves a raise. He raises the bar for customer service and made a good experience an awesome one.
