Easy check in. I even got to check in early. Recepton desk very friend and great restaurant in the basement.

Beautiful and historical hotel. Food service was great and the conferences room were well equipped.
Interesting experience. The people here are great polite and the service is very good. The building on the other hands needs a lick of paint and a lot of TLC in places. I also had a bad experience. I pre booked 2 months in advance and arrived at 11pm to find the room I had booked was over subscribed so was put in a different room with smaller beds even though I d booked a queen for myself and girlfriend. We were moved to the correct room the next day. The walls are paper thin so bring ear plugs just in case the neighbours alarm goes off too early or they watch Tv all night or the performance venue next door is having a party which happened for us on Saturday night. Also had a minor run in with a Cockroach but it was only a single one. All this said, you can t beat the location for the price we pretty much walked most places and it s well connected with Pen Station just outside the door. The rooms are clean and tidy at check in and again great staff (all the way from manager to room service all friendly and polite).
Well-located hotel, relatively close to everything: in front of the Madison Square garden, Penn Station, at a walking distance from the Empire State Building, close to Times Square, High Line, Chelsea, etc. The hotel is kind of old and really big. The rooms are small and tidied.
The locations is five stars. The hotel itself is rather mediocre. When we checked in, we had to ask the concierge to get us a front desk person because there was no one at the desk. The elevators are quick, but it takes a really long time to get one somehow. The room is clean, but there are random hairs on the shower wall. All in all, a pretty average experience.
Guest services up front can offer disappointing service at times. They really pulled through with our dissatisfactory experience.
Very well located, with the old-fashioned charm of the beginning of the XXth century. A staff at the top to satisfy you.
The room was nice and modern however the heater couldn't be turned off so we had to leave the window open to regulate the heat
Ok, they try to seem hip but the cream and green colors of the walls and carpet scream older futzy hotel
Very good location. The hotel is old, and busy, but the staff very friendly.
Classic building, terrific customer service, great location.
A reasonably decent steakhouse. We chose Butcher and Baker for it's proximity to MSG. Service was good, food quality just OK. A perfectly serviceable spot before a Knicks or a Rangers game.
The service and location for the cost make this a 5 star experience! I really enjoy the decor, lobby, and general appearance. The building is old and has a lot of older features that show their age (such as doors and the bathrooms) but it's clean and is an authentic historical experience with great service.
Hotel well located opposite madison square garden, 10 mins walk from empire state building, time square, metro 50 m, top. Spacious and clean rooms, slightly old-fashioned bathroom, magnificent entrance hall with a 1930s-like appearance.
Go for it.
Friendly staff. Rooms are cramped. Good restaurant on site.
Nice foyer, great location near Times Square, Penn Station and Empire State Building. Room moderate and in need of renovation. The bathroom was rather old. Beds and television equipment great. Breakfast is expensive: vouchers for "included breakfast" only contain coffee, a sweet pastry and half an orange. For pancakes, waffles etc. you have to put down at least $ 10. Then there are very good portions.
Decent location but dirty, damp and living in the past
Worth it to Stay in New York City. Despite a small room for Metro Room Queen, but it fulfill our need with good facilities, free coffee machine (upon request), air conditioner individual control and friendly staff. Thank you for the 3 types of free coupons ($5 Starbucks Coupons, 27% Off for H&M & 2 Free Tickets To A Comedy Show) for us to enjoy our visits at New York City.
The location of this hotel only 5-minutes walk from Penn Station. You also are able to go to others places like Empire State Building, New York Time Square only by walking. Definitely will come again to this hotel if i come back to New York next time.
Nowhere near a 5 star experience. Giving 4 stars due to the historic/nostalgic value. Good location makes it easy to get around. Very close to Penn station.
Just like knowing that Nikola Tesla lived in this one
Quite shabby and looks like it needs a really good clean everywhere. Our room was huge but it was really cold and the heating didn't work very well. The staff were really helpful and friendly and breakfast in their diner was nice
All of the employees are so welcoming! I felt so at home.
Nice hotel with old-fashioned charm. Good location in the heart of Manhattan near Empire state building
Very comfortable and unbeatable location. I was lucky to be able to stay in this hotel for a week. The situation is unbeatable. 10 minutes from the Empire State or Broadway or Times Square. It is very central. The rooms are very correct everything and it is not a last generation hotel. Maybe they could improve the Wi-Fi in the rooms since the one in the lobby is better. Business Center correct and free. Very friendly staff and like everything in NY, it is huge! 100% recommended
Excellent Hotel, highly recommended, very good location
Room was clean and comfy; close to everything. I usually get an upgrade. Not this time :-(
Not really what I expected from a famous hotel in New York not very up-to-date
Beautiful old school hotel in the heart of midtown Manhattan corner 8th av and 35th street. Excellent connections due to location next to Penn station, a hub of subway lines. Indoor restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner called Tick Tock. Not too expensive, recommended for city trips.
Place is nice.
It is also close to all the activity in NY
I liked the location, clean but small rooms, good price
Location was great. Rooms are on the smaller side, but that's with all new york hotels. Staff is really strict on noise and needing keycard to use elevators. The best part of this hotel is location.
Very tiny room, but then again it is NYC. It's a perfectly fine place to stay, but the check-in process was brutal. I showed up early and my room was not ready, which again is fine. However, every interaction I had with the staff about what I should expect was fraught with frustration and annoyance on their part. I ended up sitting in the lobby for 4.5 hours and they still refused to give me even a rough estimate of when the room might be ready. I asked only twice to get a sense for what I could expect timing-wise, and the second time they just showed frustration and then 3 different people called me back in quick succession and put me in the same tiny room they said was available 4.5 hours ago (they'd said it was available, but wasn't my original room and that it was so small that I wouldn't find it pleasant). So apparently asking for 2 updates in a span of 4.5 hours is sufficient for them to just want to get rid of you and stuff you into whatever room is available. Just a bad process, communication, and customer care all around.
Stayed at the New Yorker for 5 nights (4-9 August 2018) yes, we just got back home to South Africa yesterday. Very pleasant stay. We managed to get a room as we arrived which was around noon, we had been traveling for 24 hours.. Yes, rooms are old looking but they ve probably kept it that way. We didn t mind as the rooms were clean and tidy. Good airconditioning, friendly staff, good location, 24 hour diner downstairs, Penn Station right on the corner so catching subways were no issue, walking distance to shops. There is a room charge per night and you must present a credit card. A deposit is required on your credit card which is said to be put back into my credit card. Hairdryer available and it s pretty good!!!
Check - out was a breeze. Would definitely recommend the New Yorker hotel for a comfortable and pleasant stay.
It is a good hotel but maintenance is needed in some rooms and I got stained sheets.
Excellent service, great location, room service is fast and tasty, spacious rooms, if you re staying in New York this needs to be your hotel. Neida in the front desk is incredible, she took great care of us during our stay, big thank you to her!
Historic well restored local. They gave us the suite instead of the quadruple room booked without asking for it!
Great location and overall excellent service. First room had a leaky shower but quickly rectified. Just remember to factor the mandatory 22usd per night added charges for unnecessary extras but this is very much the same sort of charging structure as other services in New York. However, I'm personally not a fan of it.
Lovely hotel in a great location. Nice sized rooms for the price. Everything you need for a few days in New York
Great location. Loved it before the remodel, but it's been beautifully restored to its Art Deco roots. Fantastic location. The only place we stay in New York!
They threw away/stole my USD 160$, ASICS running shoes and never got back to me about it even after several calls and promises to return call. It s been 3 months. Zero customer satisfaction here. No replies no refund NOTHING. Stay at your own risk.
Once cutting-edge, now Classic mid-town hotel. My friends were in the Nicola Tesla room, very cool piece of history.
AMAZING LOCATION FOR THE PRICE. Great staff and central to all kinds of fun.
The room didn't have a kettle / coffee machine ( which must be expected from a 4 star hotel - I mean come on!) - the rooms Lool like they've aged a bit. But the beds are very comfortable =)
First and last time staying here. I arrived late in the evening and there was over 50 people waiting in line to check in due to a system issue. One hour in line and still not in my room. No thanks.
Great location, comfortable rooms although small
If you want a hotel in mid-town Manhattan, perhaps a pedestrian distance from Times Square, you always have to compromise :-) Here, hotels with comfortable and clean rooms cost a fortune! If you want to spend a little you risk a lot: real hovels or rooms where there is just enough space for the bed ....
The New Yorker is a historic hotel, and it shows, the style is unmistakable. The price is high, it is located in front of the Penn Station (i.e. direct connection with the three airports, all metro lines, pedestrian distance bus terminal). On foot: 15 minutes and you're in Central Park, 10 minutes and you're in Times Square, 2 minutes and you're at Macy's, 3 minutes and you're at the Guggenheim. Longer walk or a few metro stops and you're at the Metropolitan, Moma, the Natural History Museum.
The rooms are small, but well organized, and above all clean.
Terrible hotel, do not stay here. Don't get fooled by the proximity to Penn station, there are tons of hotels in the area that must be better. Room wasn't ready until late into the night, and when we got there, it was disgusting! Sheets clearly reused from the previous guest, roaches, bad smell, tiny room too. And biggest cheapskates I've ever seen, pay to store even 1 bag before check in, pay to store the same bag after check out, pay for wifi, pay for extra towels. I Would have saved money if I went to a higher rate hotel just because of all these fees.
Clean and wonderful. Well decorated and elegantly decorated.
The location was close enough to grand central that we could walk here once we got into the city. The rooms were small, but nice and clean. The employees were also very nice.
This hotel is fine. It's a hotel that does hotel like things as well as other hotels
Beautiful common areas and the rooms were also very tidy and clean. Great place right in the heart of Manhattan!
Staff very kind and always available. Moderately sized rooms in perfect 70's style. Central location next to Madison Square Garden.
Great secuirt, always clean and the staff is somply lovely.
We came for cheap winter break. Great location, our room on 26th floor was clean, comfortable and small about what we expected. Lots of art deco features, we liked these, but other guests may just think it's dated. Tick tock diner nothing special and expensive. Breakfast OK. Nice cheap Italian across the road next to McDonald's. Near macys and penn station We would defo go again . Polite staff.
Took a behind the scenes tour and they showed you all the history of this building. Amazing!
The location is really nice, you can easily get around from there. The hotel is very nice, art-decor and well maintained for the age of the building. Staff was very friendly and helpful, I would recommend staying here.
This hotel is outdated which I get that it is an old building. Hallways are drab. The room is beyond tiny. Can't open the door all the way. It hits the bed. There is about 2 feet of clearance around each side of the bed. With two people, it is very difficult to move about. The room and bathroom were clean.
The location is outstanding and the view is nice too!
The personal is sooooooo nice. They helped me when I asked them for some advices. The rooms are very tidy. Thank you so much
Our favorite place to stay when we visit. Spent 2 family vacations here. Great staff.
Sufficiently clean and comfortable but otherwise not a good value for the money compared to other nearby options. Rude staff. Misleading advertisement of lower rates are made up in daily $30 'facility fees'. Small rooms, which is okay, but the awkward layouts have many frustration points (such as, the bathroom door is in the way of everything unless closed). Can be noisy, as rooms aren't well insulated from one another and room door don't have the devices to keep them from slamming shut.
Ottima esperienza!
Ottima esperienza, lo consiglio vivamente.
Great if you get a remodeled room. Just okay if you get an old room. Good price. Great location.
Close to Amtrak Penn Station, seriously up the stairs and across the street. Nice size room, friendly staff. Walking distance to Times Square and Rockefeller Plaza.
Great hotel, great central location. Equipment old but clean. Staff very friendly and helpful
