The Music Hall has nice acoustics, but the seats are tiny and packed close together. I found it painful to squeeze into the seats, and they were so close together that I was brought into intimate contact with the people next to me. It was an altogether uncomfortable experience that I would not wish to have again.
Loved this venue very clean beautiful good sound reasonable prices!
The Music Hall was built over 100 years old but is one of the most intimate, classic place to hear great music. The Lone Bellow did great.
Great venue! We attended a show by Recycled Percussion there yesterday! Great show, great place to see them!
They bring shows into the Portsmouth Music Hall that you just can't find anywhere else. Definitely keep your eye on their calendar because there is stuff worth seeing! This night we saw a band, I believe they were from Boston, Who provided the musical backdrop for a vintage silent movie. Absolutely stunning! I will say that if there is no intermission the seats can be a little tough on the hind end... but a small price to pay for a wonderful evening
Really nice venue. We saw Preservation Hall Jazz Band after having a very nice meal at La Carreta.
Amazing ! I loved the decor! Should take a picture of the bathroom!
Classic old theatre (with a bar and you can drink in your seats no less). Lots of great off-the-beaten-path shows like Vaud and the Villians and the Capitol Steps. Coolest bathrooms maybe ever. Great location right in town.
I have seen some Excellent Concerts & Comedians here! A Wonderful Place too see & visit! XOXOXO LOVE,Lisa
I attended a book signing and reading event here, and it was really the perfect location for that kind of thing. It was large enough to hold a good size audience without making it feel like a huge stadium. It's an old New England theater so the inside is gorgeous! Also, the bathrooms are awesome. It sounds weird, but you should definitely go in there. I would love to go back and see live music or a play.
First time here courtesy of my employer. Saw and thoroughly enjoyed Elf.
Super location, great sound, really nice volunteers!
Historic building, great place to see a concert in Portsmouth
Great place and well run- just wish the seats where more comfortable!
Awesome show and awesome staff. First time concert in Portsmouth and I loved the experience.
Went to see Elf, which was wonderful. The seating is very tight and unfortunately for my 6'6" son, it was very uncomfortable. There really should be seating for big and tall people.
Great hall. For the size of the orchestra they do quite well. Their collaborations with artists and local schools is really nice. The conductor is friendly, animated, and has a good sense of humor. The programs are usually well put together and have a good mix of popular favorites and interesting pieces that are less well-known. Drinks can be expensive, but are generally worth the cost.
Top notch entertainment, outstanding venue with no bad seats, beautiful historic Portsmouth, NH. Parking can be challenging, though.
Beautiful architecture and space but the temperature control is very uncomfortable. I went in winter and it was extremely hot, I couldn't stop sweating. Also, the seats have barely any legroom. Many great things, some not so great, average experience.
Saw the little Prince here for my daughter school and they did a great job kept the kids engaged was clean and well kept
Historic venue that puts on first class performances.
Small, intimate venue. Went to see a speaker, so I'm sure experience is different with a full show. Sat far in back of house, but able to see and hear perfectly fine. Seats are pretty old, but the whole place feels like walking back in time, so I enjoyed even the small feeling of the chairs.
Great venue. Excellent seating draws you into the action.
Ports mouth Music Hall does an amazing job of mixing history with current culture and style. Not to mention they're diligent pursuit of Excellence in conscientious customer service. The Music Hall provides excellent contemporary art (music, film & expose in a historic & unpretentious setting. PORTS MOUTH is blessed!
We went to the music hall with a group of friends and had an outstanding time!
This is a very small venue and very interactive especially with a comedy show.
They also have a bar on the upper and lower levels that are your typical bars.
Awesome movies, concerts, and events. The selection is impeccable.
I'm gonna take my daughter to everybody's everything next week. We can't wait!
Such a cool, renovated theater. Believe the haunting stories. All true. Friendly staff, visually engaging.
3 stars is fair. It means i didn't hate or love it. It was just average.
The bathrooms alone are a destination themselves. The whole place was beyond beautiful. Friendly staff and great cocktails
This place is gorgeous and quite an intimate venue! It is decorated in a lovely style that's what I've been told is a nod to Shakespeare's wonderful play, "A Midsummer's Night Dream." And the lady's room... worth the visit alone!!
Awesome location to take in a show, many places to catch dinner before hand. The cleanest rest rooms ever!
Beautiful place. We enjoyed the Portsmouth Symphonic Orchestra Holiday Pops show. I only wish they sold assigned seating since getting to the auditorium was a mess. The foyer is too small to make lines and in the end it doesn't matter if you got there early to get good seats, the people just entering from outside are going in before you.
Beautiful space with great shows. Most beautiful ladies' room ihave ever seen.
I've been seeing shows "bands" well back into the 90's. The sound is ALWAYS incredible since it's an "actual" acoustically designed theatre! Even as a kid back into the mid/late 70's I was lucky to have seen movies here. This past Saturday we caught Trey Anastasio (Phish), solo and acoustic!! I knew the sound would be through the roof but, WOW!! We were all in for a special treat for sure! An incredible performance but we knew that before we had our tickets! From row N, center....
Great place to see a show, and the employees are are very nice!
Loved how modern and unique the lobby is! I felt transported back in time while walking to our seats in the theater. Having a beer while watching the performance really topped off the experience! They even come with lids.
Really nice venue. Great place to take in a concert. Plan to come early, as parking is always at a premium in Portsmouth.
Just saw the noon production of Annie. Best show ever. The cast and crew put on a flawless performance.
Upscale antique theater in downtown. Velvet seats. Balcony seating; be aware of the columns when selecting your seats.
Amazing venue with so much history. Just a beautiful gem in downtown Portsmouth which is such a joy to visit every time!
A beautiful historic building. The Music Hall offers great shows and movies. The Loft their smaller venue is also good for smaller audiences. Love the Christmas collaboration with the Ogunquit theatre.
We have been members for many years.
Awesome sound for Andrew Bird concert. Would return if given the chance
Lovely well restored venue. Really enjoyed Richard Thompson and Zara phillips performance there.
We went to see "Leisure Seeker" this past weekend while we were visiting the Portsmouth area. What a gorgeous venue! We looked up at the ceiling and admired the painting on it, as well as all the ornate decor around the stage area. The staff was very helpful too! We will go back again in the future!
Saw White Christmas, a co-production with The Ogunquit Playhouse. The show was fabulous and the venue warm and beautiful. We really need to go to more events there.
Beautiful theater to watch a film play or concert. Nice concession stand and a bar. Lovely clean bathrooms. If you have a tender back bring a support pillow. The ushers are great and will help. There is also an elevator to the main lobby. Ushers are volunteers.
This place is a treasure in the heart of Portsmouth bringing amazing performances to the Seacoast in a venue that is incredibly beautiful.
Good lineup of talent and events, good space and right in town. Easy to walk to but good luck with Portsmouth parking
Wonderful theater! Set in beautiful downtown Portsmouth.
Loved the older venue for its decor and comfortable seats.
This is one of the most gorgeous theaters I've been in! Full of whimsy and fun!
And honestly, the bathrooms are one of my favorite parts!
Gorgeous venue!!! Thanks for bringing pres hall up here!
One of my favorite places in Portsmouth. Always showing incredible indie films that you probably wont see anywhere else. Great musical acts and wonderful ambiance only add to the greatness.
Very beautiful piece of history, if you get the chance definitely heck it out!
We went for the Banff movie premiere!! Holy cow this place was neat, the bathrooms were a work of art and I loved drinking beer out of the sippy cup!
Supporting community and the environment! The Music Hall is an incredible example of how a successful business can also support the community and care about the environment!! I love seeing that they ve eliminated plastic water bottles!! The shows and performances are stellar too!! We saw Elf and several other shows last year, the line up is filled with great shows.
The staff are also super kind and genuinely happy to be there and assist!!
We ventured to this renovated auditorium a few years back to see the group Gaelic Storm perform. We were blown away, not only by the group, but by the beauty of this century plus old facility. It was updated without skimping on any details. My wife and I were most impressed by the marble walled restroom facilities. We both felt as though we were in the home of royals, it was so well outfitted with marble, etc.
It's always a delight to take in a show at the music hall. The location of course is excellent, and the re-done street in front of the hall looks great with all the bricks (and a fancy arch). It's right downtown, so there's ample dining both before and after a show.
The hall inside is beautiful as you would expect from a building when they built stuff to form as much as function still. Oh, were those still the days.
Being a small (500ish?) theatre, there really isn't a bad seat in the house, even the closest rows of balcony to the stage will still get you a decent view.
Always enjoy going to the Music Hall... And the Bohemian Rhapsody sing along was awesome!!
We love The Music Hall! The plush velvet seats are comfortable and they serve adult beverages. I've always had a good view of the stage no matter where I sat.
Had a great time at the Banff mountain film festival
Beautiful place. Glad they had an elevator even though it was a tight fit & tricky driving for my son in his power chair.
