Would get a 5 star rating if it was in a town that wasn't so liberal and they had straws not sippy cups for drinks. Not everyone is 5 years old .

Great place. Went here for a screening of the Witch and a Q&A with the director. This place has probably the nicest bathroom i've used in my life LOL! I just wished they had more shows and concerts here.
Thomson Square and location was great. So inexpensive too
Lovely historical theatre that presents movies not available at chain cinemas as well as staged events, marred only by a bizarre (Capt.Nemo themed?) lobby.
You need to check this place out. Fabulous experience
Historic setting, fabulous symphony performance. A night of musical excellence. Greatly enjoyed.
Great venue... Intimate setting with classic architecture... Just saw Preservation Hall Jazz Band... Great show
The Music Hall is wheelchair accessible with a ramp down to the bar and an elevator to the main floor. Be aware that the elevator is very small and they require a staff member to ride along to operate it. It was just big enough for my manual wheelchair and the employee. Handicapped seating is the open space between the first row and the stage to right and left of center. You'll have to stay in your chair and they will provide folding chairs for friend/family. We fit 4 people, 2 wheelchairs and it was a little snug. You will block the view of those sitting in the 1st row, fyi. If you can transfer out of your chair I'd recommend calling ahead to book a first row seat. The walk way down to the stage if very steep, if need help with an ada ramp you will definitely need help here.
Staff is great and will do what they can to assist.
It is a beautiful facility. White Christmas was spectacular!!!
Great theatre and great show list! The lobby is an interesting design, as well as the lit facade outside. Ticket prices are reasonable and the foundation that supports this historic buldidng does a lot of good. Highly recommend especially for an indoor family winter activity.
Although the production was fabulous and the bldg beyond gorgeous, it's the Volunteer staff, particularly the Ushers that are the heart of this total experience. My 6 yo great-grand-daughter and I were seated in the balcony for our ANNIE performance. An Usher stationed upstairs even went downstairs to purchase my young charge's pop corn when I was unable to renegotiate the stairs. It was a wonderful evening!!!
Always a great time with great shows and people. Joe Jackson tonight.
Awesome experience, great show. Saw the musical White Christmas with loved ones. Truly a great show put on by the Ogunquit Playhouse Theatre Group and guest star Sally Struthers. A memorable time was had by all. Staff and ushers were very helpful and informative.
Beautiful place and a beautiful performance! We had a magical experience seeing Disney's Beauty and the Beast put on by the Ogunquit Playhouse! Recommended for everyone!
Pat Metheny playing with Antonio Sanchez already makes it 5 stars but the building is beautiful and the theater provided fantastic sight lines and sound even from the balcony. Plus so many great restaurants nearby.
Portsmouths side street diamond! A perfect night out. Awesome venues!
Asheigh and her crew are great! Easy and fun to work with!
Awesome old theater, great movies, pleasant staff. I mean wow this is truly a hidden gold nugget of Portsmouth. Given the new roadwork supporting a very touristy place Portsmouth nightlife is moving upwards. Those new pillars & arch.
I was really blown away when I went to my first show here! The theater is so beautiful, almost like a Boston-style theater. There are great drink and snack options that you can take into the theater. The staff are very helpful. I will say that you should pay attention to the warnings about obstructed views when you get tickets, though! We were on the right side of the stage in the balcony, which pretty much completely obstructs the view on the right side of the stage, so we missed some great bits of dancing during the show. If seeing the whole show is crucial for you, buy seats in the center!
Perfect venue for an intimate show. Wish the sound was a little bit higher difficult to hear in the back rows. Staff and volunteers were wonderful and friendly.
Incredible place for a concert! We saw Snarky Puppy there with House of Waters recently (2019). Great sound, nice atmosphere.
I love everything hosted here. Intimate setting for concerts, theater and movie screenings. The addition of the basement lounge makes this classic theater feel even more retro, and ability to bring food and beverages into the theater makes it a great venue for kids and parents alike. Park in Portsmouth Parking Garage for a quick walk.
Gorgeous theatre, excellent programming (been there for my favorite band, the Indigo Girls; took my niece to Mary Poppins a couple of years ago; tonight got to listen to the incredible mind of Pulitzer Prize winner Jared Diamond..... so good!) A must see, must do in Portsmouth!
Saw a film in the afternoon at the Music Hall. Excellent film, relaxing experience. The only stress in Portsmouth is finding a parking space where you don't have to walk a long distance.
Beautiful theater with a great set of programs and a wonderful staff.
Great place to visit. A lot of changes since it was the Civic Theatre that I went to as a kid.
The music hall is one of the reasons I love Portsmouth. So many great shows and experiences over the past decade or so are owed to the Music Hall, as will many years more. The service is fantastic and the venue is beautiful. The music hall has truly enriched my life!
We sat near the back of the balcony and still saw and heard a great show. Don't think there's a bad seat in the house.
Only one because of Scott Kelly. A little pricey. I was glad to see that Scott Kelly has so many people interested in him.
Awesome staff and the washrooms are stunning and music sounds great. A must if you can
Old theater with films, shows and music. The lobby is stylized and very cool looking. The theater is beautiful!
I ran into a former lady friend from 30 years ago.....she didn't recognize me.... I wasn't sure it was her anyways.....maybe that's why she didn't recognize me.... I was too emotional from the violin performance by Simone Porter, so didn't approach her. However, the Beethoven performance was excellent. Best $34.00 I've spent in a while.
Beautiful, freshly remodeled facility. Good drinks at the bar. Every seat is a good seat.
Such a historic gem to have right here on the seacoast. If you haven't been before I highly recommend it!
Beautiful building selection of shows is a little bit disappointing
Historic theater with great seats. Saw a film festival there and really enjoyed it.
Absolutely beautiful interior, amazing productions and friendly staff. Very clean and well kept both around the building it's self and inside.
Great old classic venue...not a bad seat in the house. So many great diverse acts, talks and concerts! Be a member for more perks
This venue is absolutely amazing, beautiful, rich in history, and great shows.
Set in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, this historical theatre will transport you back in time. I've been here many times over the last twenty years. This is the first time I've been since the Chestnut Street renovation. They really did a wonderful job with the exterior of the theatre and the surrounding street. In the past the entrance really just look like it was down an alleyway. But now with the new Archway on Chestnut and renovation of the street, it has a much more welcoming appearance. Sounds in the theatre is great. The interior of the theater is clean and very beautiful. The bathrooms, which had been recently renovated, are absolutely spectacular. I know that's a funny thing to say about a bathroom, but you really must see them. A plus is they have full bars, so you can order mixed drinks, wine and beer, and they smartly have plastic glasses with snap lids that can be consumed in the theatre during the performance. If you're looking for a nice night on the town with some entertainment definitely check out the Portsmouth Music Hall
They have done a fantastic job restoring this theater. This is a great place for any event from watching an old classic silent movie to Lincoln Center Orchestra led by Wynton Marsalis. Located in the center of downtown Portsmouth just steps from some of the finest restaurants in the area.
Remarkable restoration makes the theatre experience a remarkable memory.
The face of the building is tucked away on a side brick street but it's the interior that is pure art. Even the bathrooms have supposedly been heralded the second best in the country. The main hall itself is small and cozy. It's a raised stage, as many of them are, so the front row puts you at eye level with the performers' feet. But depending what you're there to see, they're still not bad seats. The decor; the friendly, if aged staff; and the full bar all make this place amazing.
Great venue, great shows. Be careful when choosing your seating some views very ubstructed.
Layer. It's biggest drawback is you don't know whether it will be hot or cold.
This is a wonderful old and historic theater and the perfect spot for an evening of entertainment. The staff was very friendly. The quality of the production (White Christmas) was superb. We had a very pleasant evening and look forward to returning in the near future.
Great ambiance and great facilities and great staff!
What's not to like? Classy old theatre, very well restored and maintained. Friendly volunteers helping everyone, great selection of shows at fair prices, etc. Wonderful experience every time we go.
Great place for a concert & I'm sure a play or movie. Downstairs bar & upstairs concession. The bathroom situation, a couple of stalls would help, otherwise a gem of a place!
Grand old theater. I saw the Warren Miller film here. It was comfortable but very loud as you might expect.
My mother and I both thought that the seats were kind of small, but otherwise we had a wonderful time (we attended the Bohemian Rhapsody singalong)
Beautiful old theater which brings in national acts in an intimate setting, as well as showing independent movies you don't get to see in national chain theaters. A cultural bright spot in seacoast New Hampshire. I'm grateful this place is around. Check it out!
Beautiful venue! Was worried because so many ticket options offered "limited or obstructed views" but once inside I saw there wasn't a bad seat in the house. I look forward to more performances here!
I went to a concert here, and it was wicked awesome- the employees were cool, and the opening act was bumpin. My only complaint was that the performer didnt show up for 30 minutes- so I left. But the opening act was really, really good. The sound system and performers that they have are really talented
Very nice quaint place to experience music concerts.
