A place with a mission that no one go hungry in Mississauga. Volunteering at this place makes me feel happy and a sense of satisfaction of serving the society. I have seen how TMFB is helping those in need through various means even during the COVID-19 pandemic. The staff and volunteers are very friendly and happy to help.

One of my favourite places to donate. I've donated with other orgs before and received slew of marketing mail from other NGOs (environmental orgs I'm looking at you for re-selling my data!) I've only received mail from Mississauga Food Banks which is great. I really love how they can stretch a dollar to feed more people and I know there's an immediate impact to the community around me. Looks like it's also a great place to volunteer which I'll be looking into in the future.

This is a donation place who receive the food that people do not need but can use, then they will share for everyone who needs. Inside, they grow up their own plants to supply for donation. People here are friendly and kind. Amazing place.

Unlike some non profits which offer only value added but not essential services for their own employment, food banks really help the community by offering real goods to people in need. Then Missisaauga food bank is one of the best out there that takes care of its community.

For the not so positive comments about expired food, we need to understand that food banks run on donations and have to deal with storage and logistics, the onus lies on the receiver to check if the food is in good condition. Actually many dry food items are eligible way past expiry dates.

For people who complain, let me ask - would you prefer fundings to go to those non profits that pay their executive team millions of dollars a year? Or to employment services that the consultants get good pay to help you get minimum wage job? Not all non profits deserve praises. We should at least be grateful that food banks are there to help so no one in our neighborhood will go hungry!

Great place that accept donations and give it to other food banks in the area. They do have emergency boxes ready for anyone who need food. All are welcome, it s a walk in service, so you don t need an appointment. Keep up the great work for the community . God bless you.

The initiative is very good and beneficial , unfortunately I have received foods expired as far back as 3yrs prior.
This is helping and killing us at the same time .
This was sad because I believed in the initiative , therefore I never checked other produce until I saw the 2017 expired rice . This was not just a singular occurence as many of produce received had similar issues .

They are very friendly and no matter who you are they help as much as possible, so Thank you to everyone working or volunteering there for their services and kind greetings. Unlike some people in other food banks they don't embarrass you in this pandemic for approaching them temporarily. So Thaanks a loooooot for even helping those people who used to donate before but are in need themselves now.

I wasn't expecting what I received as I live alone, but I'm thankful for what I was given! Potatoes, broccoli, eggs, two packages of pasta, instant oatmeal, yogurt, a lot of milk, sour cherry jam, real meat, apples, small snacking tomatoes, six cans of tuna and five cans of mixed beans. Going to go on the Internet to find the recipie for Jamacian beans and rice.

With warmest regards,
Pauline

About The Mississauga Food Bank

The Mississauga Food Bank is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community of Mississauga for over 30 years. It is the central food bank in Mississauga, providing food for over 400,000 meals each month through a network of 50+ member agencies. The organization's mission is to eliminate hunger in the community by providing nutritious food to those in need.

The Mississauga Food Bank operates on a simple principle: no one should go hungry. They believe that access to healthy and nutritious food is a basic human right and work tirelessly towards ensuring that everyone in the community has access to it. The organization provides emergency food assistance to individuals and families who are struggling with hunger due to various reasons such as job loss, illness, or other unforeseen circumstances.

One of the unique aspects of The Mississauga Food Bank is its focus on providing fresh and healthy food options. They understand that many people who rely on their services may have limited access to fresh produce due to financial constraints or lack of transportation. To address this issue, they have implemented several programs such as their Fresh Produce Program which provides fresh fruits and vegetables directly from local farmers.

In addition to their emergency food assistance programs, The Mississauga Food Bank also offers several other initiatives aimed at addressing hunger in the community. Their Community Kitchen program teaches individuals how to cook healthy meals on a budget while also promoting social interaction among participants. They also offer nutrition education classes which provide information about healthy eating habits and how they can be incorporated into daily life.

The organization relies heavily on donations from individuals, corporations, and other organizations within the community. Without these donations, they would not be able to provide essential services such as emergency food assistance or run their various programs aimed at addressing hunger in the community.

If you are interested in supporting The Mississauga Food Bank's mission of eliminating hunger within our community there are several ways you can get involved! You can make a donation online through their website or participate in one of their fundraising events throughout the year such as their annual Thanksgiving Drive or Holiday Drive.

In conclusion, The Mississauga Food Bank plays an essential role within our community by providing emergency food assistance while also working towards eliminating hunger altogether through various initiatives aimed at promoting healthy eating habits among participants. Their commitment towards ensuring everyone has access to nutritious foods makes them an invaluable resource for those struggling with poverty-related issues within our city!
